Electronic Security Systems in Academic Libraries: A Case Study of Three University Systems in South-West Nigeria.
This study examines the effectiveness of electronic security systems in academic libraries with a focus on selected university libraries in South-West Nigeria. The study is to find out what electronic security systems are in use in academic libraries, how library materials are removed illegally, and to ascertain the effectiveness of the electronic devices in the libraries. A survey method was used for the study. Descriptive and inferential statistics of frequency counts and percentages were used to analyze data gathered through the survey. One hundred and nine (109) copies of the questionnaire were distributed. Eighty-one (81) copies (74%) were duly completed and retrieved from the respondents. A participant observation method was also employed to measure how effective the electronic security devices are. The study unveils that academic libraries have suffered adversely from security issues and other anti-social menaces and that the installation of electronic security devices would drastically curb the situation

A Study of E-Cheating Habit of Students in Three Selected Universities in Nigeria.
Several studies have emerged on examination misconduct in Nigeria, but „e-cheating‟ habit of
students, a new form of examination fraud is yet to be given adequate attention in the literature. This
study is provoked to address this problem not only in the country but also in academic scholarship.
Using three selected Universities samples, the study examines methods which students are using in
engaging ICTs to perpetuate examination misconduct. Relying on raw data of one hundred and ninetynine
(199) students retrieved, the study attempted to uncover if a significant difference exists in echeating
habit between ICT-compliant students and other students in rubrics not science-oriented. It
equally tried to discover if there is a significant difference in e-cheatng habit between male and female
students. Drawing on the recorded data in each institution, the study reported five ICT tools associated
with examination misconduct. Using chi-square (X2) to test the hypotheses, the study reported a
significant difference between ICT-complinat students and other students in rubrics not scienceoriented.
Finally, it revealed a significant difference in e-cheating habit between male and female
students

Information and Communication Technology (ICT), has added value to the services provided by Nigerian libraries. This study employed a survey research method on the use of ICT in Nigerian libraries: a case study of Covenant University library. The respondents were students and faculty of the university. The findings show that Covenant University library, has an abundance of computers connected to the internet with web based Millennium software. The students and faculty make use of online public access (OPAC) to locate materials on the shelves. The study reveals several reasons for using the internet by both faculty and student respondents. But the lowest ICT usage was electronic databases. The faculty respondents with the highest frequency of 40 (80%) use the internet to up-date knowledge while the highest student respondents 177 (76.7%) use the internet to complete projects.
