    Compound Control of Electromagnetic Linear Actuator Based on Fuzzy Switching

    Due to the motion control system of electromagnetic linear actuator (EMLA) is a nonlinear system with poor controllability, single control strategy has been difficult to meet the requirements of its control. A compound control strategy based on inverse system control (ISC) and proportional-integral (PI) is designed in this paper. Switching between two algorithms, which is based on the fuzzy rules, prevents the control algorithm to jitter and jump. System model is build under Matlab/Simulink to do simulation analysis. The designed controller is integrated into the system simulation model and the system software of digital signal processor (DSP) controller. Simulation and test results show that the compound control strategy using fuzzy switching rules achieves the smooth transition of two control algorithms, and the goal of any position location, and continuous adjustment in 0~4mm lift. Positioning accuracy is up to ± 0.02mm, while the response time is less than 10ms

    Multi-mode soft switching control for variable pitch of wind turbines based on T-S fuzzy weighted

    Variable pitch control is an effective way to ensure the constant power operation of the wind turbines over rated wind speed. The pitch actuator acts frequently with larger amplitude and the increasing mechanical fatigue load of parts of wind turbines affects the output quality of generator and damages the service life of wind turbines. The existing switching control methods only switch at a certain threshold, which can result in switch oscillation. In order to deal with these problems, a multi-mode soft switching variable pitch control strategy was put forward based on Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy weighted to accomplish soft switch, which combined intelligent control with classical control. The T-S fuzzy inference was carried out according to the error and its change rate, which was used to smooth the modal outputs of fuzzy control, radial basis function neuron network proportion integration differentiation (RBFNN PID) control and proportion integration (PI) control. This method takes the advantages of the three controllers into consideration. A multi-mode soft switch control model for variable pitch of permanent magnet direct drive wind turbines was built in the paper. The simulation results show that this method has the advantages of three control modes, switch oscillation is overcome. The integrated control performance is superior to the others, which can not only stabilize the output power of wind turbines but also reduce the fatigue load

    This paper presents an efficient and effective method to determine optimal switching instants of fuzzy switching systems such that both the ripple magnitude and energy of the fuzzy switching systems are minimized. The method is based on optimal switching control techniques, where an optimal enhancing control method is used. This method has several advantages over the traditional methods. Firstly, it does not require the process of linearization. Secondly, it guarantees to achieve optimality. For illustration, a practical example of an optimal pulse width modulated fuzzy control of a switched-capacitor DC/DC power converter is presented

    Fuzzy Control Strategy for an Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment Process

    In this paper, a fuzzy control strategy (FCS) for an anaerobic wastewater treatment process is proposed in order to reject large disturbances on input substrate allowing a high methane production. This strategy is composed of: i) a state observer, which is based on a principal components analysis (PCA) and Takagi-Sugeno (TS) algorithm; it is designed to estimate variables hard to measure: biomass and substrate, ii) proportional-integral (PI) controllers based on a combination of the L/A(logarithm/antilogarithm) and fuzzy approaches; these controllers have variable gains and are designed to regulate bicarbonate in the reactor by two control actions: a base supplying (binc) and dilution rate (D) changes, iii) a TS supervisor which detects the process state, selects and applies the most adequate control action, allowing a smooth switching between open loop and closed loop. Applicability of the proposed structure in a completely stirred tank reactor (CSTR) is illustrated via simulations. The obtained results show that the process works in open loop in presence of small disturbances. For large disturbances, the supervisor allows the control actions to be applied avoiding washout; after that, the process returns to open loop operation. In general, the FCS improves the performances of the anaerobic process and is feasible for application in real processes, since the control scheme shows a good compromise between efficiency and complexity

    Nonlinear Analysis and Control of Interleaved Boost Converter Using Real-Time Cycle to Cycle Variable Slope Compensation

    Switched-mode power converters are inherently nonlinear and piecewise smooth systems that may exhibit a series of undesirable operations that can greatly reduce the converter's efficiency and lifetime. This paper presents a nonlinear analysis technique to investigate the influence of system parameters on the stability of interleaved boost converters. In this approach, Monodromy matrix that contains all the comprehensive information of converter parameters and control loop can be employed to fully reveal and understand the inherent nonlinear dynamics of interleaved boost converters, including the interaction effect of switching operation. Thereby not only the boundary conditions but also the relationship between stability margin and the parameters given can be intuitively studied by the eigenvalues of this matrix. Furthermore, by employing the knowledge gained from this analysis, a real-Time cycle to cycle variable slope compensation method is proposed to guarantee a satisfactory performance of the converter with an extended range of stable operation. Outcomes show that systems can regain stability by applying the proposed method within a few time periods of switching cycles. The numerical and analytical results validate the theoretical analysis, and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach

    A more general class of stochastic nonlinear systems with irreducible homogenous Markovian switching are considered in this paper. As preliminaries, the stability criteria and the existence theorem of strong solutions are first presented by using the inequality of mathematic expectation of a Lyapunov function. The state-feedback controller is designed by regarding Markovian switching as constant such that the closed-loop system has a unique solution, and the equilibrium is asymptotically stable in probability in the large. The output-feedback controller is designed based on a quadratic-plus-quartic-form Lyapunov function such that the closed-loop system has a unique solution with the equilibrium being asymptotically stable in probability in the large in the unbiased case and has a unique bounded-in-probability solution in the biased case
