Exploring the properties of the phases of QCD matter - research opportunities and priorities for the next decade
This document provides a summary of the discussions during the recent joint
QCD Town Meeting at Temple University of the status of and future plans for the
research program of the relativistic heavy-ion community. A list of compelling
questions is formulated, and a number of recommendations outlining the greatest
research opportunities and detailing the research priorities of the heavy-ion
community, voted on and unanimously approved at the Town Meeting, are
presented. They are supported by a broad discussion of the underlying physics
and its relation to other subfields. Areas of overlapping interests with the
"QCD and Hadron Structure" ("cold QCD") subcommunity, in particular the
recommendation for the future construction of an Electron-Ion Collider, are

The Role of Lattice QCD in Searches for Violations of Fundamental Symmetries and Signals for New Physics
This document is one of a series of whitepapers from the USQCD collaboration.
Here, we discuss opportunities for Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (LQCD) in the
research frontier in fundamental symmetries and signals for new physics. LQCD,
in synergy with effective field theories and nuclear many-body studies,
provides theoretical support to ongoing and planned experimental programs in
searches for electric dipole moments of the nucleon, nuclei and atoms, decay of
the proton, - oscillations, neutrinoless double- decay
of a nucleus, conversion of muon to electron, precision measurements of weak
decays of the nucleon and of nuclei, precision isotope-shift spectroscopy, as
well as direct dark matter detection experiments using nuclear targets. This
whitepaper details the objectives of the LQCD program in the area of
Fundamental Symmetries within the USQCD collaboration, identifies priorities
that can be addressed within the next five years, and elaborates on the areas
that will likely demand a high degree of innovation in both numerical and

Understanding information needs of Australian business organisations
Over the past decade, universities have used repositories as channels
to create access to research outputs. Increasingly government and
universities are seeking to optimise the impact of their research,
particularly to improve public policy. This study looks at the impact
of access to research from the perspective of business associations
and researchers. It finds that business organisations value trusted
timely, relevant research. Accessibility and peer-reviewed research
outputs are highly valued but little used. Barriers to use of the research
include availability (material not openly accessible), discoverability
(ranking on search engines) and knowledge by trusted mediators and
connectivity (presentation as part of a cohort of scholarly knowledge).
Barriers for researchers include lack of rewards and recognition for
research outputs focused on these organisations. The theories used in
the study include triple helix, Kautto-Koivula and Huhtaniemi’s model
for knowledge and competence management and actor network
theory. The study concludes that significant work is required to
improve the accessibility and discoverability of research. In particular,
the search paradigm is insufficient to provide optimal awareness of

Planning the Future of U.S. Particle Physics (Snowmass 2013): Chapter 6: Accelerator Capabilities
These reports present the results of the 2013 Community Summer Study of the
APS Division of Particles and Fields ("Snowmass 2013") on the future program of
particle physics in the U.S. Chapter 6, on Accelerator Capabilities, discusses
the future progress of accelerator technology, including issues for high-energy
hadron and lepton colliders, high-intensity beams, electron-ion colliders, and

Comprehensive Intellectual Capital Management As A Supplement For Knowledge Based Theory And Resource Based Theory
The purpose of this study was to analyze the concept of integration of Intellectual Capital and Knowledge Management that can improve and update by the Resource Based Theory (RBT) and Knowledge Based Theory (KBT). The research method is qualitative interpretive approach and grounded theory research. The study states that the concept of integration of IC and KM can improve and update the RBT and KBT as the basic theory of IC and KM must be adapted to the conditions of pharmaceutical companies in Indonesia. Thus there are changes in the concept of improving and updating RBT and KBT be complementary role RBT and KBT. The management model that is used to supplement the role of RBT and KBT is a Comprehensive Intellectual Capital Management ( CICM ) model because it is very complete and comprehensive as well as an integration or combination of IC and KM
