A Survey Study on the Independence and the Openness of the Will be Teacher
Having the ability to be independent and open-minded is essential for the will be teachers, with this ability they indicated as long life learner. This is survey study
which involved 300 students of Education and Teacher Training Faculty of University Kanjuruhan of Malang as the research subject. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire that consisted of 40 questions. The validity of the instrument is tested by using Cronbach Alpha test. Based on the data analysis it is found that the level of students‘ independence is considered high, yet the level of openness is mediocre. It is suggested that the students should be given learning activity that requires them to discover, design, evaluate, create a product and then present it in a discussion forum. Besides, it is necessary to give students more room to practice and develop themselves to be open-minded through activities in both classroom and extracurricular
