Este artigo revisita o problema da famosa peça de vestuário de O Capuchinho Vermelho (AT333). Depois de pôr de parte a afirmação de Delarue de que o chaperon rouge é um traçoacessório, sem relação com o tema, considera-se a relação entre os textos literários e os folclóricos, assim como o ponto sobre a difusão cultural, para sugerir a necessidade de, no campo do folclore, tomar em linha de conta traduções simbólicas. Ao examinar quer os textos literários quer algumas versões orais de “O Capuchinho Vermelho”, assim como dados que estão fora do âmbito dos contos, sugiro que, através dos séculos e dos géneros, existe um modelo simbólico coerente subjacente ao encontro de lobos com meninas de vermelho

Yet the Cape Verdean story remains relatively unknown despite its relevance to world history and ongoing processes of globalization. Nevertheless, Cape Verdeans refuse to be rendered "statistically insignificant" in the American imagination. Can the University of Maine afford to concede to its regional competitors? A 21st century road map for postsecondary language education

The University of Maine Flagship Match program is designed to recruit students from neighboring states and offset enrollment declines. However, language faculty retrenchment at the university a decade ago, combined with the effective double-degree programs with languages, STEM, and other subjects that other regional flagships offer and recent changes in New England’s K–12 graduation options, makes it harder for UMaine to attract high-performing students. If the university wants to compete with others in New England and attract students who focus on global professional issues, it has an opportunity it cannot afford to miss. Exploring Literary Landscapes: From Texts to Spatiotemporal Analysis through Collaborative Work and GIS

This article argues that the study of literary representations of landscapes can be aided and enriched by the application of digital geographic technologies. As an example, the article focuses on the methods and preliminary findings of LITESCAPE.PT—Atlas of Literary Landscapes of Mainland Portugal, an on-going project that aims to study literary representations of mainland Portugal and to explore their connections with social and environmental realities both in the past and in the present. LITESCAPE.PT integrates traditional reading practices and ‘distant reading’ approaches, along with collaborative work, relational databases, and geographic information systems (GIS) in order to classify and analyse excerpts from 350 works of Portuguese literature according to a set of ecological, socioeconomic, temporal and cultural themes. As we argue herein this combination of qualitative and quantitative methods—itself a response to the difficulty of obtaining external funding—can lead to (a) increased productivity, (b) the pursuit of new research goals, and (c) the creation of new knowledge about natural and cultural history. As proof of concept, the article presents two initial outcomes of the LITESCAPE.PT project: a case study documenting the evolving literary geography of Lisbon and a case study exploring the representation of wolves in Portuguese literature
