    Transformational Leadership and IS Extended Use-The Mediating Role of Job Autonomy and Moderating Role of IT Innovativeness

    Drawing upon transformational leadership and job characteristics theory, this study develops a research model to examine the impact mechanism of direct supervisor’s leadership behaviors on employees’ extended use of information systems. A field survey was conducted in China and empirical data was collected from 299 employees from both IT and non-IT industries. Structural equation modelling analysis results suggest that transformational leadership is positively associated with employees’ perception of job autonomy, which in turn promote IS extended use. Specifically, IT innovativeness is identified as a significant moderator that strengthens the relationship between transformational leadership and IS extended use. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed in the final section

    Impact factors for business system success

    In most organizations, knowledge sharing is often lacking when it comes to business systems success. This paper investigates factors affecting business systems success in Saudi organisations. Data were collected from private organisations in Saudi Arabia and Partial Least Square approach has been applied to analyse the data. The results show that organisational culture influence knowledge sharing towards business systems success. In addition, both intrinsic motivation and perceived usefulness has positive influence on business system success. This indicates that business system success is built upon the concept of knowledge sharing and user motivation

    THE IMPACT OF MOTIVATIONAL FACTORS ON ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING: A STUDY ON EDUCATION SECTOR OF PAKISTAN

    The main purpose of this study is to investigate the motivational factors that affect the organizational learning in the education sector of Pakistan. Self-administrated questionnaire with 5 point Likert scale is used for primary data collection and research journals and articles are used for secondary data collection. The sample size of the study is consisted of hundred academic employees of different educational institutes of Lahore. SPSS is used for measuring the relationships between variables and interpretations of their relationship. Organizational learning mainly depends upon peer cooperation motivational factor. As the peer cooperation increases in an organization, it leads the organization towards learning. Peer cooperation has  a strong effect on organizational learning as a motivational factor in the education sector. A high level of peer cooperation in any organization helps in enhancing its learning. Furthermore, according to data analysis all other motivational factors used in this study i.e. working condition, recognition and reward has very small or no effect on learning of any organization. So, we can conclude that, among four different motivational factors i.e. peer cooperation, working condition, recognition and rewards, only peer cooperation has a strong relationship with organizational learning as compared to other factors

    IMPLEMENTATION KNOWLEDGE AND THE ASSIMILATION OF ENTERPRISE INFORMATION SYSTEMS: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY

    Based on the organizational learning perspective, we present an empirical model to explain the assimilation of complex enterprise systems. We conceptualize systems implementation capability of organizations in terms of two types of knowledge – artifactual knowledge and inter-unit coordination knowledge. We propose that these knowledge dimensions are directly related to the degree of assimilation of enterprise systems. Further, considering that assimilation of IT innovations is steeped in the institutional environment, we also consider the moderating effects of mimetic and normative institutional pressures on the relationship between implementation knowledge and the degree of assimilation. Analysis of survey responses from ERP implementations in seventy-seven organizations reveals support for our main hypotheses that both the implementation knowledge dimensions directly affect assimilation. We also confirm that while mimetic institutional pressures positively moderate the impact of ERP-specific artifactual knowledge on assimilation, normative influences positively moderate the effect of ERP-specific coordination knowledge on assimilation. However, surprisingly mimetic pressures negatively moderate the impact of ERP-specific coordination knowledge on assimilation. The negative moderation suggests that organizations with greater interunit coordination knowledge are more ‘mindful’ towards ERP assimilation and therefore mimetic pressures play a lesser role in affecting assimilation levels. Our findings offer interesting implications for theory and practice

    Enterprise Systems Implementation and their Impact on Employee Job Outcomes. A review of the literature, synthesis, and framework

    Enterprise Systems (ESs) integrate business processes to enhance organizational effectiveness. Organizations make huge investments in procuring and implementing ESs to effectively manage their resources to achieve strategic decision-making and improve operational excellence. Irrespective of the investments, it has become increasingly difficult to reap the full benefits of the systems being implemented. ESs implementation is a massive change event in organizations and in employees’ work routines that affect their day-to-day business activities impacting their job outcomes. To this end, the primary aim of this systematic literature review (SLR) is to synthesize the prior literature that explored the association between ESs implementation and employee job outcomes. Accordingly, our review study systematically analysed fifty empirical studies to identify themes that received substantial attention in the prior literature. The SLR uncovered key gaps, unearthed six themes, identified potential research areas, and proposed a comprehensive framework depicting the current research profile and potential avenues linking ESs and employee job outcomes. Our review provides significant implications for practice and research through the proposed comprehensive framework. We further suggest that ESs implementors need to consider job outcomes as crucial parameters during and post-implementation as successful implementation provides a strategic advantage to organizations and benefits employees

    Organizational learning and its role in user assimilation in the case of an ERP project : a suggestion for improved learning guidelines

    Digitalization and the adoption of technological solutions characterize many current trends across organizations. A widespread example of this is the use of ERP systems to streamline business processes and improve efficiency. Most ERP-related literature focuses on challenges and best practices in the implementation phase of the system’s life cycle, with less emphasis on the reasons affecting the actual usage and assimilation of ERP systems. Evidence suggests that organizational learning is crucial for the successful user assimilation of ERP systems. However, limited research has focused on understanding the factors affecting individual level learning in training design for ERP projects. This master's thesis investigates the role of organizational learning and factors influencing individual level learning in ERP system users. The study utilizes qualitative research methods, including interviews with a subgroup of a case organization. The findings suggest that organizational culture, motivation, perceived usefulness, social factors, and learning enjoyment impact the assimilation and acceptance of ERP systems. The study also identifies best practices for ERP training, including the use of a learning plan, diverse learning approaches and effective assessment of training methods. The results provide practical recommendations for organizations to improve their training strategies and contribute to the broader academic discourse on ERP system assimilation signalling the need for future research in this domain

    Transformational Leadership and Digital Creativity: The Mediating Roles of Creative Self-Efficacy and Ambidextrous Learning

    Drawing insights from social cognitive theory and organizational learning theory, this study aims to uncover themediating mechanisms between direct manager’s transformational leadership behaviors and employees’ digital creativity in the context of digital technology. We conducted a field survey in China and collected data from 234 employees who utilized digital technologies to support daily work. Structural equation modelling analysis results showed that employees’ creative self-efficacy and two learning activities (exploitation vs. exploration) effectively transmitted the influence of transformational leadership ondigital creativity. Our study not only contributes to the understanding on effective use of digital technologies, but also provides practical insights for managers in the big data era

    Impact of Institutional Pressures on Absorptive Capacity of a Firm and Web 2.0 Assimilation

    We investigate a theoretical model that combines two streams of research in IT adoption. The first is the institutional theoryperspective, which provides the institutional pressures that induce a firm to align itself with the members of the institution ofwhich it is a part. The second is the learning perspective on organization, which has been used to study firm characteristicsthat promote technology assimilation; it provides the mediating factor of absorptive capacity. In this study we empiricallystudy the role of institutional factors as they are mediated by absorptive capacity in the assimilation of Web 2.0 technologies.Linear structural equation model using formative constructs are developed. [103209]. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.compind.2020.103209This study assesses the effect of some extended Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) capabilities (Collaboration, Analytics, Web-portals, Add-ons) and ERP use on ERP value. The research conducted, followed a mixed-methods approach using an exploratory study (Delphi) and the resource-based view of the firm to understand the ERP capabilities and develop three competing models surrounding these capabilities, ERP use, and ERP value, and then a confirmatory study using a large-scale survey of firms in Germany, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, to test these models. Results suggest that the moderation model best explains the relationships, while the additive model highlights the direct effects of both ERP capabilities and ERP use on ERP value in an interesting way. Results highlight that the role of ERP use is more critical when moderating ERP capabilities and ERP value, as well as when additive to ERP capabilities, than when mediating between ERP capabilities and ERP value. The practical value of the study lies in the fact that this investigation provides new knowledge on how some extended ERP capabilities may positively influence value from investment, and together with ERP use, provide business value.authorsversionpublishe
