    Strategic Management Model with Lens of Knowledge Management and Competitive Intelligence: A Review Approach

    Purpose: First purpose of this study is to discuss the synergic and separate use of knowledge and intelligence, via knowledge management and competitive intelligence, in each stage of strategic management process. Second purpose is to discuss the implications of each stage of strategic management process for knowledge management and competitive intelligence and vice versa. Methodology/Design/Approach: A systematic literature review was performed within timeframe of 2000 to 2016. Extracted information from reviewed studies was synthesized and integrated in strategic management model of Fred David. Findings: A strategic management model with lens of knowledge management and competitive intelligence is proposed. Each stage of knowledge management process has implications for knowledge management and competitive intelligence and vice versa. In addition, synergic and separate use of knowledge and intelligence results in effective decision making leading to competitive advantage. Research Limitations: Learning curve of knowledge management and competitive intelligence and being limited to use of Fred David model are among key limitations. Practical Implications: Experts of knowledge management, competitive intelligence, and strategic management can use this study to gain competitive advantage based on knowledge and information resources. Organizations should have knowledge management function as well as competitive intelligence to support the strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation. Social Implications: Readers can take a view that how they can manage their knowledge and information resources from a strategic perspective? Originality/Value:. Nowadays, artificial intelligence has been applied to all walks of life, and the field of competitive sports is no exception, such as VR video technology, artificial intelligence for competition and player data analysis, artificial intelligence equipment to help players train, artificial intelligence to develop tactics, etc. But artificial intelligence has also brought about problems such as disrupting game viewing, making intellectual competitive sports meaningless, and threatening the status of industry practitioners. Many people worry that artificial intelligence will bring many uneliminated negative effects to competitive sports, but this is not the case. By referring to news and literature, conducting online questionnaires and interviews with industry practitioners, after discussion and analysis, conclusions were reached. Artificial intelligence has brought innovation and influence on the competitive sports industry. The positive impact it brings far exceeds the risks and problems. At the same time, these negative problems can be solved by artificial control. Likewise, the thesis aims to measure the satisfaction level of the decision-maker when making decisions based on competitive intelligence. Based on an extensive literature review, some hypotheses appear to support a survey addressing competitive intelligence issues.     Supply chain intelligence in business organizations: a Malaysian perspective

    The business environment has become more competitive due to advancements in technology and globalisation. Emphasising intelligence as a means for dealing with such circumstances, this study examined the role of supply chain intelligence (SCI), which embraces the process of competitive intelligence (CI) in the operations of a supply chain management (SCM). The integration is needed to ensure that this actionable information from CI has a 360-degree view of business activities amongst supply chains. What exactly is supply chain intelligence? How does supply chain intelligence influence business competitiveness in Malaysia? How does supply chain intelligence help businesses to achieve competitive advantages? This paper examined the contribution of supply chain intelligence on business competitiveness by: a) identifying and validating the dimension of supply chain intelligence components, and b) examining the levels of supply chain intelligence usage by businesses. A focus group was employed as a preliminary study to validate the supply chain intelligence components, and subsequently, for the development of the questionnaire for the survey in the study. The results contribute to the literature by emphasising the use of systematic intelligence in supply chain integration to improve business competitiveness

    Top managers networking influence on competitive intelligence practices : the case of hi-tech SMBs

    This paper aims at studying and measuring the influence of SMEs’ top decision makers’ social capital on competitive intelligence practices. To do so, a literature review of both competitive intelligence and social capital fields led us to construct a conceptual model based on four hypotheses. Methodological details of the test model using a PLS approach are outlined Data from 193 questionnaires filled out by high-tech French SMEs, are analysed through a PLS regression. A re-sampling procedure with the construct level change option and 250 re-samples is run. The results provide support for the four hypotheses and so contribute toward improving efficiency of competitive intelligence practices in four fields.peer-reviewe

    Competitive Intelligence and Improving Patronage of the Twenty First Century Academic Libraries in Nigeria

    The paper discussed the employment of competitive intelligence for improving patronage of the 21st century academic libraries. It explored literature on; the concept of competitive intelligence, characteristics of the twenty first century academic library, attributes of competitive advantage in academic libraries and competitive intelligence activities in Nigerian academic libraries. It was discovered that funds and the necessary skill-sets were required for an academic library to develop to the point of having a competitive edge over other libraries. Also literature revealed that only few libraries especially private university libraries were already treading the path of gaining the competitive advantage for attracting increased patronage. The paper concluded that having competitive advantage is a function of better application of knowledge gained through competitive intelligence as a major factor for staying relevant and be able to attract the 21st century academic sophisticated library clientele. Also adequate provision of funds for innovation and upscale facilities and services is key to attracting patrons. Therefore, it was recommended that library and information science professionals should seek ways of generating funds apart from library subventions and be knowledgeable about their users, they should be sensitive to their environment as well as brace up to the changes taking place in their internal and external environments by acquiring relevant skill-sets and deploy both traditional, non-traditional (ICT) and creative/innovative methods to meet the highly specialized information needs of users thereby attracting more patrons while they strive to acquire some facilities that beautify and make the environment inviting and conducive

In this study the relationship between competitive intelligence and organizational flexibility has been investigated. The findings suggest that there is the positive relationship between competitive intelligence with significant organizational flexibility.
