Automating Society: Taking Stock of Automated Decision-Making in the EU. BertelsmannStiftung Studies 2019
Imagine youâre looking for a job. The company you are applying to says you can have a much easier application process if you provide them with your username and password for your personal email account. They can then just scan all your emails and develop a personality profile based on the result. No need to waste time filling out a boring questionnaire and, because itâs much harder to manipulate all your past emails than to try to give the âcorrectâ answers to a questionnaire, the results of the email scan will be much more accurate and truthful than any conventional personality profiling. Wouldnât that be great? Everyone winsâthe company looking for new personnel, because they can recruit people on the basis of more accurate profiles, you, because you save time and effort and donât end up in a job you donât like, and the company offering the profiling service because they have a cool new business model
Even If Faith
But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.â (Job 23:10, NIV)
âBut even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.ââ (Daniel 3:18, NIV)
God may not always save us from the fire, but He will be with us through the fire
Internal College of Engineering Expense Distribution Report Instructions
When creating an instructional document, you will end up with a detailed record that outlines a step-by-step process resulting from all the of your trials and knowledge you experienced during that undertaking. I found that I learned more about myself during this process than I did about the results of activity itself. I will no longer look at training resources the same. This simple document, which could range between one page to hundreds of pages is the result of someoneâs experiences. What the document doesnât tell you is that someone most likely spent hours of research, hundreds of actions, or steps, while testing their theories and overcoming their failures, all to save you time. You now get to benefit from their success and learn how to complete that task using the knowledge of your predecessors, we should feel privileged every time we use a job aid that allows us to do our job best
Students Loans: Borrow Wisely, August 2022
There is no one best repayment plan. The fixed plan is the default for federal loan repayment, but donât take that as a recommendation. Itâs an automatic pre-selection that doesnât take your situation into account. A graduated payment plan makes sense if you can count on your income rising steadily during your repayment period. An income-based plan might be best if you donât plan to enter a high-paying job. It also provides some buffer if you donât land a job right away, and your loan might be forgiven after a specified time. A shorter repayment plan will cost
more each month for now but will save you money in the long term

Use Your Time Efficiently
There are only 24 hours a day. No matter how hard we try we cannot make more. Time cannot be found, spent or saved it can only be used. Time may be used wisely to gain many desired satisfactions, or it may be used unwisely with few pleasant results. If we want to use time wisely and save effort, we must be willing to admit there is room for improvement. We must also be willing to change from the old in the rut way to a new way of doing our job. Each of us sets our own pattern of housekeeping. Changing times call for changing patterns. We change our clothing styles-why not our working styles. The way you do your work has a direct relationship to the length of your working day and how you feel at the end of that day. Can you improve the way of doing your work so that you can get it done satisfactorily and keep well and strong doing it? We are sure you can. Why not study your tasks to see whether you could do them in a shorter, better, and easier way. Those who make a practice of planning are likely to accomplish more. This is not guess work. Many studies have shown that homemakers with the ability to manage well do accomplish greater goals

Dearest One--
This morning I got up at 7:30. I just couldnât sleep; so I wrote three more letters--one to Martha Altman, to Ethel Laufman & a V-Mail to Sylvan Laufman. Under separate cover Iâm sending you my letters from Ethel & Martha.
By the time I had breakfast, read the paper & talked to Mom it was almost noon. So, I decided to really clean drawers--& boy, I âwent to townâ & got rid of a lot of useless stuff.
Then, I had lunch & started to clean the 3rd floor which took me until after four, but I really did a swell job! Your Mom called about that time to say that Sanf had the car fixed & I wouldnât have to call for them. So, I picked up grandma, Sadie, Max & Maxâs uncle, Mr. Zimmerman--heâs 70 & visited them for 3 days. Heâs from St. Louis, a grand, old gent! Sadie was her usual âbitchyâ self--couldnât make up her mind whether or not to eat with us, etc.
However, Sadie & your Mom âhit it offâ as they both cry on each otherâs shoulders.
Sanf & Soph both worked today at their respective jobs. Of course, Sanf could come with the folks, but Sophie couldnât--she was just too busy! Doesnât that sound exactly like her?
Well, your folks stayed until 10:30, & drove Dad to the Rapid, so that he could catch his train for Chicago. Gosh, the house seems very empty with him! I think every home must have a man!!
Mom got quite disgusted with your family. She didnât prepare very much cause she knows they are small eaters; but gosh darn, after all she did prepare something & they ate nothing. I wish you could see the leftovers.
Sanf got quite a âkickâ out of my new picture, âThe Turtle Baby,â altho Iâd like to rename it âI Am the World.â Sanf looks good--even if he went to a party & only had 2 hrs. sleep last night.
Oh, yes, I gave him this New York girlâs address & he said he would write. Also, while Mort was home, he went out with Elaine Stromsburg (a passive from Ukâs sorority--about 18 or 19) & he had a swell time, so I suggested that Sanf call her up. Mainly, sheâs a lot of fun!
I read Sanf parts from your letters that I thought he would enjoy. He was very appreciative.
Your Mom came up to see my place & didnât seem at all enthused. I was surprised, since almost everyone who has seen it has been impressed or, at least, enthusiastic [sic] about my ideas.
By the way, your Pop & my Mom seem to have enjoyed a long talk together this evening. Heâs so much more understanding than your Mom!
Itâll be good to have the big car to take to work this week. Iâll save me a lot of time. (I only hope our car comes back from the garage soon.
My sweets--I miss you so very much. It seems Iâll just never get âmy fill of you.â I adore you, my precious. I guess I just live from one letter to the next, & then, finally, you will be here. The news is rather encouraging, but, according to the general public, I must be pessemistic [sic]! By the way--how do you feel about Genâ. Stillwellâs [sic] recall from China?[1] What do you make of it?
Our front steps have been contaminated. I found some Dewy [sic] âfloatersâ[2] on the steps!
Sweetheart--I do hope youâve gotten lots of mail from me by now! Also, honey, Iâm not asking you a lot of questions about your work, cause Iâm sure you know Iâm interested & you will write what you may!
All my love always,
Edith

[1] On October 19, 1944, U.S. Army General Joseph W. Stilwell had been recalled from his command in China by President Roosevelt and replaced by General Albert C. Wedemeyer.
[2] Edith is probably referring to campaign leaflets calling for the election of Republican presidential candidate, Thomas E. Dewey
My Path To Pharmacy
Do you like action? Do you enjoy problem-solving? Would it intrigue you to be a part of a field where you will be learning throughout your entire life? Iâm an emergency room pharmacist and I love my job. I always knew that I wanted to be a pharmacist. I made my decision freshman year of high school when I did community service in the pharmacy at the local hospital. After graduating high school in 2001, I nurtured my interest by working as a pharmacy tech for years while i was an undergrad. Life after high school... is always full of surprises. I was almost derailed a couple of times (I will give you advice on how to avoid this) but I graduated from NSU in 2006 with my B.S. in Biology, then went on to pharmacy school. I graduated from NSU COP in 2010, finished a year of residency with a focus on emergency medicine and was hired as an emergency department pharmacist. I then worked on a clinical toxicology certificate through the University of Florida for a couple of years so I can be more helpful in drug overdoses and poisonings. I moved to California a couple of years ago and here I am, I really feel like I am living the dream, working a job that puts a silly smile on my face pretty much every single day. When I think about going to work, I actually get super excited. If you think about it, pretty much every situation in the emergency room is treated with medications and I am thus a part of every single patient that comes through our doors. From therapeutic recommendations to dose adjustments to helping determine how to best give a medication and what to look out for, I can say that I help save lives, every day. Selecting, dosing and giving medications can be incredibly stressful to non-pharmacists. Itâs really great to be part of the emergency department and the emergency room staff is always so appreciative to have us there. If you have a thirst for action, can keep your calm in stressful situations and enjoy solving problems with an enthusiastic, diverse team of people, think about being an emergency department pharmacist. Youâll never be bored, I promise
