Design and fabrication of foldable chair

    Get PDF
Idea to design and fabricate a foldable chair is come from a supervisor that gives a task and a title for this project. To design and fabricate this foldable chair it must compare with the other product that available in market. To make sure the idea to design and fabricate the foldable chair is not used and in old idea, the information about current design for foldable chair must search or get from the internet. Form there the information and idea to design and fabricate a foldable can be created. It includes many things about foldable chair design that wanted to know. Whole of the project involve various methods like the concept design, the designing and also the fabrication process. Beside that in this project can bring a motivation and experience to conduct the various type of machine, train to work under the pressure, and also soft skill ability like time management, planning the task, negotiation skill and sell Out the idea especially during work progress presentation

ConfBits: A Web Based Conference Management System

    Get PDF
ConfBits is a Web-based Conference Management System (CMS) developed to aid effective organization and management of professional, academic and technical conferences. The web based application is an object-oriented and multi-conferences platform that is made up of four major actors which are authors, reviewers, administrators (otherwise known as Program Committee (PC) chair) and participants. Conference organizers in any Anglophone country can subscribe to the platform via the Internet to access and utilize the different features which include; abstract and full paper submissions, assignment of papers to reviewers, sending email notifications to authors and reviewers, participants management and conference program scheduling. The prototype of the platform is already deployed on the Internet and the trial Universal Resource Locator (URL) is www.cucms.com.ng. From our review of existing online CMSs, ConfBits (although still at a prototype stage) is the first of such system from a developing clime. We hope the platform will serve to bridge the hitherto wide digital divide between the developed and developing nations especially with respect to scholarly online content

Abstract: Sedentary is a behavior that has the potential to cause health problems. Sedentary behavior increases the chances of gaining weight or obesity in a person. The majority of UHAMKA students show this behavior because students' daily activities such as attending lectures, doing assignments, playing online games, watching, or looking for entertainment on the internet and mass media are carried out by sitting or being silent for hours. Community service activities consist of a series of health promotion activities aimed at increasing knowledge about the dangers of sedentary and increasing physical activity using the chair aerobics method. These activities consist of health education through health seminars and the habituation of chair aerobics in the lecture process through playing chair aerobics movement videos. The community partnered is the Faculty of Health Sciences UHAMKA and targeted 77 students. The results of the evaluation of results using the pre-post one group design method showed success in the form of increasing sedentary knowledge and physical activity (18.29%) and students' intention to do physical activity (1.14%). Besides that, it can have an impact on changes in student habits to do chair aerobics during lecture hours or physical activities such as climbing stairs, walking, and others

The Effect of Office Chair Backrest Design on the Body\u27s Metabolic Response to Office Work

Most office chairs have a backrest that is wider at the shoulders than at the hips. Recently, a new office chair was developed that has a backrest that is narrower at the shoulders and wider at the hips (upwardly tapered backrest). The upwardly tapered backrest should allow users to increase their ventilatory efficiency, compared to a conventional, wide backrest. This new backrest design will hypothetically allow a user to retract their scapulae, increase expansion of the chest cavity, thus allowing the lungs more space to expand. Specific measures of improved ventilatory efficiency are an increase in tidal volume (Vt - liters/breath) and a decrease in respiratory rate (RR - breaths/min). Ventilatory and cardiovascular metabolic variables were measured from 31 office workers sitting in 2 chairs (conventional and upwardly tapered). The Cortex Metamax 3B system (Leipzig, Germany) was used to measure VO2 , RR, Vt and heart rate (HR - beats per min). Each participant performed 8 tasks in each chair. The tasks included typing, searching the internet, creating a spreadsheet, and watching a movie. Physiologic data were collected throughout testing. The subjects were blinded to which chair the test chair was. Results indicated no significant differences in users\u27 RR and Vt between the two chairs, but the users did have a significantly lower HR when they sat in the chair with the upwardly tapered backrest (3 to 7 bpm less). Heart rate has been shown to be a risk factor of heart disease, and thus the test chair could reduce the impact of a risk factor of heart disease in office workers. Analysis of subjective assessment data did not show any overall preference for either chair
