Context:  Owing to the technological breakthrough in the worldwide productive systems, generated by the 4.0 revolution, it is compulsory to make sweeping changes to logistics both nationally and internationally to allow supply chains to enhance their performance and their response time. Hence, the concept of Logistics 4.0 was born. Although many developed countries have implemented the principles of Logistics 4.0, there is still a breach in its study and application worldwide. This article explores the challenges and tendencies in the implementation of Logistics 4.0. Method: Articles published from 2015 to 2021 in the databases of Scopus, Science Direct, Taylor and Francis and Google Scholar, were analyzed by a systematic literature review. The explored publications were found using the search terms: (("logistics 4.0") OR ("supply chain 4.0") OR ("industry 4.0" AND ("logistics" OR "supply chain"))) and ((“blockchain” OR “IoT” OR “Cyber Physical Systems” OR “Big Data”) AND “logistics”) in title, abstract and keywords. Results: It was proposed a conceptualization of Logistics 4.0 including definition, objectives, characteristics, and most representative technologies in its implementation. Likewise, the main challenges and trends that industries could face in the implementation of Logistics 4.0 within logistics systems, and supply chains were identified. Conclusions: Logistics 4.0 is a novelty term that has aroused the interest of researchers, governments, and companies worldwide, due to its promising benefits in reducing response times and increasing flexibility and collaboration in supply chains. However, the lack of a common framework for its study and adoption has hindered its integration in companies and supply chains, specially in those located in developing countries, which must face technical, social, economic, and legal barriers for the implementation of logistics 4.0.Contexto:  Debido a los avances tecnológicos en los sistemas productivos globales generados por la revolución 4.0, se ha vuelto necesario hacer cambios profundos a la logística para que las cadenas de suministro puedan mejorar su desempeño y tiempos de respuesta.

4.0 technologies in city logistics: an empirical investigation of contextual factors

Industry 4.0 technologies, originally developed in the manufacturing sector, can be purposefully implemented to improve City Logistics (CL) processes by automatizing some of their operational tasks and enabling real-time exchange of information, with the ultimate goal of providing better interconnection among the actors involved. This work aims to identify the main social and economic contextual drivers for investing in the application of Industry 4.0 technologies to urban logistics. To this end, a dataset based on the primary collection of 105 CL projects exploiting the main 4.0 technologies has been built. After that, a regression model has been completed including potential economic, strategic, and demographic determinants of investments in CL 4.0. According to the obtained outcomes, Gross Domestic Product, Foreign Direct Investments, R&D Expenditure, Employment Rate, and Number of Inhabitants are significant contextual factors for the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies in last mile logistics. The study might support academicians to investigate novel application fields of Industry 4.0 technologies. Also, it can serve as a roadmap for orienting the investments of private organizations and public entities to promote CL innovation and digitalization. Moreover, Industry 4.0 technology providers might find this study interesting to uncover prospective business sectors and markets. Future research efforts will analyse the impacts of internal business factors on CL 4.0 and the satisfaction levels of urban logistics stakeholders

The development and deployment of Artificial intelligence (AI) in organizations is of growing interest to the Information systems (IS) discipline. This can be approached from a sociotechnical perspective contributing to managing the unintended outcomes of AI while extending AI use boundaries. This paper presents the findings from a systematic literature review on organizational maturity and readiness for AI development and development. A key result is that extant research has lost sight of AI systems\u27 humanistic and ethical aspects, and principles related to responsible AI are not sufficiently defined. This is a hurdle because principles for responsible AI are fundamental for AI development and deployment ensuring long-term benefits. Drawing from the literature review findings, we provide a conceptual maturity model with two main dimensions (responsible and instrumental), twelve conditions and thirty factors. The maturity and readiness factors for responsible AI are deduced from synthesizing 35 articles in related literature. Specifically, the paper identified six capabilities for responsible AI: AI model, Cooperative AI, ethical awareness, laws & regulations, data governance and continuous improvement; six instrumental capabilities were also identified: strategic alignment, technology, culture, data management, financial and human resource management

PURPOSE: The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the use of Logistics 4.0 tools and a change in the behavior of drivers to more ecological and safer. We analyze the social acceptance of the intelligent tools implemented in vehicles, and identify a possible research gap in this area.DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: In this article, a systematic review is used for the quantitative and qualitative assessment of publications available in two digital databases – WoS and Scopus. The review allows verifying whether there is a significant research gap within the analyzed problem.FINDINGS: In the article, is indicated that the digital databases of publications contain only 26 full-text papers relating to the analyzed research problem, which confirms the hypothesis of the existence of a research gap.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The practical implications of this publication include the need to refine research on the social aspect and the readiness of drivers to implement and use intelligent transport systems with benefits for reduction of the environmental impact and increased safety.ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The importance of the Smart City tools and their use as part of increasing the safety and environmental friendliness of driving is a key factor in changing driver behavior. The pro-ecological policy of the European Union imposes a change in the style of driving. Only 26 related publications have been identified, thus this paper contributes to the literature by proving in-depth analysis of the problem under consideration. This article was funded by Poznan University of Technology, Faculty of Engineering Management [project number: 504101/0812/SBAD/4177].peer-reviewe
