    DC motor speed control with the presence of input disturbance using neural network based model reference and predictive controllers

    In this paper we describe a technical system for DC motor speed control. The speed of DC motor is controlled using Neural Network Based Model Reference and Predictive controllers with the use of Matlab/Simulink. The analysis of the DC motor is done with and without input side Torque disturbance input and the simulation results obtained by comparing the desired and actual speed of the DC motor using random reference and sinusoidal speed inputs for the DC motor with Model Reference and Predictive controllers. The DC motor with Model Reference controller shows almost the actual speed is the same as the desired speed with a good performance than the DC motor with Predictive controller for the system with and without input side disturbance. Finally the comparative simulation result prove the effectiveness of the DC motor with Model Reference controller

    Discipline formation in information management is investigated through a case study of the origi-nation and development of information services for scientific and technical information in Australia. Particular reference is made to a case of AESIS, a national geoscience, minerals and petroleum reference database coordinated by the Australian Mineral Foundation. This study pro-vided a model for consideration of similar services and their contribution to the discipline. The perspective adopted is to consider information management at operational, analytical and strate-gic levels. Political and financial influences are considered along with analysis of scope, perform-ance and quality control. Factors that influenced the creation, transitions, and abeyance of the service are examined, and some conclusions are drawn about an information management disci-pline being exemplified by such services

    Full- & Reduced-Order State-Space Modeling of Wind Turbine Systems with Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Generator

    Wind energy is an integral part of nowadays energy supply and one of the fastest growing sources of electricity in the world today. Accurate models for wind energy conversion systems (WECSs) are of key interest for the analysis and control design of present and future energy systems. Existing control-oriented WECSs models are subject to unstructured simplifications, which have not been discussed in literature so far. Thus, this technical note presents are thorough derivation of a physical state-space model for permanent magnet synchronous generator WECSs. The physical model considers all dynamic effects that significantly influence the system's power output, including the switching of the power electronics. Alternatively, the model is formulated in the (a,b,c)(a,b,c)- and (d,q)(d,q)-reference frame. Secondly, a complete control and operation management system for the wind regimes II and III and the transition between the regimes is presented. The control takes practical effects such as input saturation and integral windup into account. Thirdly, by a structured model reduction procedure, two state-space models of WECS with reduced complexity are derived: a non-switching model and a non-switching reduced-order model. The validity of the models is illustrated and compared through a numerical simulation study.Comment: 23 pages, 11 figure

    Guaranteeing Input Tracking For Constrained Systems: Theory and Application to Demand Response

    A method for certifying exact input trackability for constrained discrete time linear systems is introduced in this paper. A signal is assumed to be drawn from a reference set and the system must track this signal with a linear combination of its inputs. Using methods inspired from robust model predictive control, the proposed approach certifies the ability of a system to track any reference drawn from a polytopic set on a finite time horizon by solving a linear program. Optimization over a parameterization of the set of reference signals is discussed, and particular instances of parameterization of this set that result in a convex program are identified, allowing one to find the largest set of trackable signals of some class. Infinite horizon feasibility of the methods proposed is obtained through use of invariant sets, and an implicit description of such an invariant set is proposed. These results are tailored for the application of power consumption tracking for loads, where the operator of the load needs to certify in advance his ability to fulfill some requirement set by the network operator.     Tracking technical refinement in elite performers: The good, the better, and the ugly

    This study extends coaching research examining the practical implementation of technical refinement in elite-level golfers. In doing so, we provide an initial check of precepts pertaining to the Five-A Model and, examine the dynamics between coaching, psychomotor, biomechanical and psychological inputs to the process. Three case studies of golfers attempting refinements to their already well-established techniques are reported. Kinematic data were supplemented with intra-individual movement variability and self-perceptions of mental effort as measures of tracking behaviour and motor control. Results showed different levels of success in refining technique and subsequent ability to return to executing under largely subconscious control. In one case, the technique was refined as intended but without consistent reduction of conscious attention, in another, both were successfully apparent, whereas in the third case neither was achieved. Implications of these studies are discussed with reference to the process’ interdisciplinary nature and importance of the initial and final stages

    Abstract. This study aims to develop a standard job analysis and human resource competency model for Islamic Micro Finance Institutions (Baitul Maal wat Tamwil), so it could be a reference for others, providing a standard professional human resources management on MFIs. This research is a field study designed as a survey, through the method of interviewing job holders and the supervisor with direct observation of the activities of field staffs. The data was analysed in the form of a verbal description of qualitative data. The main activity of the staff of MFIs is to encourage the low economic community through the activities of saving and financing. MFIs main characteristic is the principle of being directly in the field thus forming networks through regular meetings and maintaining a reliable service. MFIs personnel competency model consists of a cluster model based on teamwork/collaboration, customer focus, and communication competencies; technical cluster includes technical expertise and managing work competencies; and personal cluster is integrity, achievement orientation, and self-control competencies.Keywords: Baitul Mal Wattamwi, competency model, job description, job specification, micro finance institutio
