Factors Influencing Perceptions Toward Social Networking Websites in China
Based on an online national survey of 503 respondents, this study empirically investigates factors influencing perceptions toward social networking websites (SNWs) in China. More specifically, user demographics and media\ud
characteristics were examined. While income was found to be a significant predictor of usersâ attitude toward SNWs, gender, age, educational level and marital status were insignificant, suggesting that demographic divides may be\ud
diminishing when it comes to online social media in China. Both perceived risk and enjoyment were found to have significant positive effects. Managerial implications were discussed
Latent segmentation of older adults in the use of social networks and e-banking services
Introduction. This study analyses heterogeneity in the online behaviour of elderly people.
Previous research has centred on the socio-demographic segmentation of the elderly regarding
their Internet use.
Method. The novelty that this study adds is in determining this segmentation through variables
that have been especially chosen for studies of the elderly and which are related to their
utilitarian use of e-banking, compared to the more hedonic nature of using online social
networks.
Analysis. The sample was collected using 474 students over 55 years old enrolled in a class of
experience in a University in the South of Europe (Spain). We use a latent class cluster model
which is appropriate in situations of a posterior segmentation.
Results. In dealing with such behaviour in situations of the elderly using these technologies, we
have detected the presence of five groups or segments with highly differentiated use-related
profiles concerning the variables analysed: venturesomeness, technology anxiety and selfconfidence
in information and communication technologies use.
Conclusion. We discover the existence of heterogeneity in the behaviour of the elderly
regarding services available in Internet. The results support the idea proposed. The stereotype of
the elderly cut off from technology is mistaken, as is shown by the different segments found

Towards successful e-Payment systems: An empirical identification and analysis of critical factors
This research aims to explore the factors relating to e-payment system to be implemented where electronic processes enable the facilitation of online transactions. A secondary analysis revealed six factors which are argued to be âcriticalâ for customer adoption of these systems. The findings were further augmented by an online survey of 155 respondents where the perceived importance of the critical factors were correlated through: security, trust, perceived advantage, assurance seals, perceived risk and usability. The results demonstrate that three of the critical factors were necessary (security, advantage, web assurance seals) and three were relatively sufficient (perceived risk, trust and usability) through customer intentions to adopt an e-payment system. The study provides a valid overall awareness that these critical factors are important in designing a successful e-payment system
A relational view of Psychological Empowerment and Sense of Community in academic contexts: a preliminary study
Scholars need to pay attention to understand the factors that shape the interactions between individuals and social groups. Constructs like Psychological Sense of Community (PSoC) and Psychological Empowerment (PE) are powerful constructs used to evaluate the antecedents and the consequences of individual attachment to social settings. In parallel, recent advances in network analysis show that the position occupied within whole networks and ego-centric networks are relational factors that affect the subjective perception of membership to social groups. Studies that are conducted in organizational and community settings show strong associations between PSoC and PE. However, these connections have rarely been evaluated within natural settings such as the classroom context. On the other hand, although the theoretic basis of PSoC and PE claims that both processes are formed in a relational way, there are few studies that empirically evaluate the effects of social connectedness on the emergence of PSoCâreferred to the classroomâand PE referred to academic-task development. The aim of this research is to determine the effects that the position occupied in formal and informal exchange networks induce on PSoC and PE dimensions. Sixty-four students enrolled in a master degree program (women = 68.8%, Mean age = 26.09, SD = 3.88) participated in this cross-sectional study. Multivariate analyses and network analyses were performed to test the hypotheses under study. The main research finding is that PSoC and PE are synergistic constructs that mutually shape to each other. In relational terms, by sending several nominations in informal networks, it is possible to generate notable impacts on some PSoC dimensions, while receipt of a wide number of nominations in formal contact networks is associated with high levels of PE. In addition, individuals who present high levels of PE are located in the core of formal exchange networks. These results are discussed in order to design actions to increase PSoC and PE in postgraduate academic settings

Couldn't or Wouldn't? the Influence of Privacy Concerns and Self-Efficacy in Privacy Management on Privacy Protection
Sampling 515 college students, this study investigates how privacy protection, including profile visibility, self-disclosure, and friending, are influenced by privacy concerns and efficacy regarding one's own ability to manage privacy settings, a factor that researchers have yet to give a great deal of attention to in the context of social networking sites (SNSs). The results of this study indicate an inconsistency in adopting strategies to protect privacy, a disconnect from limiting profile visibility and friending to self-disclosure. More specifically, privacy concerns lead SNS users to limit their profile visibility and discourage them from expanding their network. However, they do not constrain self-disclosure. Similarly, while self-efficacy in privacy management encourages SNS users to limit their profile visibility, it facilitates self-disclosure. This suggests that if users are limiting their profile visibility and constraining their friending behaviors, it does not necessarily mean they will reduce self-disclosure on SNSs because these behaviors are predicted by different factors. In addition, the study finds an interaction effect between privacy concerns and self-efficacy in privacy management on friending. It points to the potential problem of increased risk-taking behaviors resulting from high self-efficacy in privacy management and low privacy concerns.Radio-Television-Fil
Research in multi-cultural relationship building
This study aims to explore the âmissing gap' between the values of an Accounting firm and the preference shown by Maaori on how they would like to be approached when wanting to build a trusted relationship within a business sense. This study makes use of qualitative approaches in which data is collected primarily through interviews and analysed to produce results and recommendations. The study found that Maaori would like to be approached in a way that makes sense to them and also identifies with their cultural proceedings. It also provides insight into how important trust is when establishing a relationship with Maaori. The study recommends that further studies conducted should interview a wider variety of focus groups to add different elements to this research and that FIRM A's small business department's offerings do not align with what Maaori want so need to be rethought to adapt to Maaor expectations
NOWADAYS ONLINE CONSUMERS' RIGHTS AND INTERESTS. CASE STUDY- THE ROMANIAN EDUCATED ONLINE YOUNG CONSUMER
The digital age brought along the appearance of a new type of consumer, the online consumer. Taking into consideration the serious security threats of the virtual market, the purpose of this article is to emphasize several significant aspects related to online consumerâs rights and interests, with a special interest on the educated online young consumers in Romania. We used desk and field research and carried out an online exploratory, quantitative survey, with the questionnaire as the main instrument, the valid number of the responses being 394 (all less than thirty years old, educated, online consumers from Romania). Related to this sample survey, the studyâs findings clearly indicate that the level of information regarding their online rights and interests is average towards small, and their confidence in the security protection of the online shopping is situated at a low level of confidence. The relevance of the research for practice is given by the topic under discussion. Our study is valuable due to the used methodology and the updated gathered data regarding Romanian educated online young consumersâ perception on their rights and interests.generation Y online consumer, online consumerâs rights and interests, Romanian educated online consumers.
