Estonia stayed fifty years under the communist regime. This paper explores the transformation of Estonian organizations within the framework of the Leavitt's model of change where the process is analyzed from the perspective of four organizational elements: people, organizational goals, structure, and technology. In respect with the people the role of individuals is emphasized as well as the polarization of mindsets is discussed. The new era forced to clarify the organizational task because of market economy. The organizational structure does not change as fast as the other elements do and hierarchy considered being important. The formalization tactics (personnel selection and training) have gained new meaning in the process of transformation of organizations. The technology has varied due to the twofold possibilities- advantage to introduce the new informational technology and the usage of the old fashion machinery. Change of the society led to the change of organizations, which had the transformational nature. There was shown that all the elements of the organizations had the pressure to find new forms of existence

Food, passion and marginalised young people : technologies of the self in Jamie\u27s kitchen

A passion for food that is understood in certain ways – slow, organic, not industrialised – plays a central role in the drama of the successful and popular Jamie’s Kitchen (2002) and Jamie’s Kitchen Australia (2006). Large parts of the drama in these shows revolve around an apparent lack of passion that is displayed by the marginalised, unemployed young people that are the central characters in this story. In this paper I examine the ways in which these accounts of food, passion, and the training of marginalised young people expose some of the challenges and opportunities faced by marginalised young people as they seek to transition into the uncertain and risky labour markets of 21st century capitalism. I argue that Michel Foucault’s (1988) concept of technologies of the self enables us to understand passion, and its particular manifestations in Jamie’s Kitchen, and in the training of marginalised young people, as a powerful technology of self transformation. The drama of Jamie’s Kitchen suggests that as a technology of the self passion for food promises to provide precarious, possibly temporary, forms of salvation, meaning and purpose for the young people engaged in the Fifteen Foundation’s social enterprise transitional labour market program

In addition to the current challenges in production technology due to the shift from conventional powertrains towards electrified drive technologies, the disruptive transformation of mobility confronts OEMs and suppliers with major personnel challenges, which include new requirement profiles for prospective skilled workers. In order to meet the personnel requirements of industry and ensure the high quality of vocational training in Germany nonetheless, the current training concepts must be strengthened by the targeted integration of specific contents and be geared holistically to the needs of new occupational profiles. This paper presents a methodological approach for deriving current deficits in vocational education and training through the systematic analysis of framework curricula and the targeted survey of teachers working at German vocational schools as well as the derived training program to support the qualification of trainees. In order to obtain a training concept of high didactic quality, the approach is based on pedagogical methods to provide the best possible support and to convey the learning objectives related to professional, social, methodical, and personal skills. With the newly conceived “Training Factory Stator Production” at the wbk Institute of Production Science of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, a program for the training and further education of trainees, skilled employees and engineers will be introduced using the example of producing stators with hairpin technology, to support especially small and medium-sized companies in the personnel transformation process

Surgical training in the UK and Ireland has faced challenges following the implementation of the European Working Time Directive and postgraduate training reform. The health services are undergoing a digital transformation; digital technology is remodelling the delivery of surgical care and surgical training. This review aims to critically evaluate key issues in laparoscopic general surgical training and the digital technology such as virtual and augmented reality, telementoring and automated workflow analysis and surgical skills assessment. We include pre-clinical, proof of concept research and commercial systems that are being developed to provide solutions. Digital surgical technology is evolving through interdisciplinary collaboration to provide widespread access to high-quality laparoscopic general surgery training and assessment. In the future this could lead to integrated, context-aware systems that support surgical teams in providing safer surgical care

Technology is a strong ally the transformation and adaptation of new knowledge, through the use of technology environments as virtual learning environments and virtual reality environments can be made more dynamic learning. This work is part of the training of teachers who work in vocational courses so that they can work with people with disabilities and insert them into the labor market, adapting their job according to your needs. For this we used technological resources that assist in training and make this more dynamic training, adapting to Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs). The technological environment developed as well as the selected learning objects were made available to participants. Questionnaires regarding usability and functionality were performed, allowing to generate an overview of the training provided to these teachers
