The Future of Librarianship in Science and Technology Libraries
Librarians, especially subject specialists in academic sci-tech libraries, appear to be facing a very perilous predicament. Two of their major job responsibilities, developing subject collections and providing face-to-face reference service, are in rapid decline. Budget cuts, publisher packages for books and a transition to cost-per-use evaluations for journal subscriptions all clearly diminish the need for active collection development. Meanwhile, because of changes in information-gathering habits, users increasingly approach reference librarians as a last resort

Auditing scholarly journals published in Malaysia and assessing their visibility
The problem with the identification of Malaysian scholarly journals lies in
the lack of a current and complete listing of journals published in Malaysia.
As a result, librarians are deprived of a tool that can be used for journal
selection and identification of gaps in their serials collection. This study
describes the audit carried out on scholarly journals, with the objectives (a)
to trace and characterized scholarly journal titles published in Malaysia, and
(b) to determine their visibility in international and national indexing
databases. A total of 464 titles were traced and their yearly trends, publisher
and publishing characteristics, bibliometrics and indexation in national,
international and subject-based indexes were described
Criteria for Evaluating Journals in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and the Life Sciences
The purpose of this paper was to identify existing criteria that may be considered in evaluating journals in the scholarship of teaching and learning in agriculture, natural resources, and the life sciences. This can assist faculty authors and evaluators of promotion and tenure cases to explain indicators of the quality of the publications. The commonly accepted criteria are: peer review; acceptance rate; longevity; open access availability; inclusion in indexing/abstracting services; citation analysis; and expert opinion. These data were collected for a representative set of journals which indicated that: acceptance rates for the journals varied widely; most of the journals existed for at least 10 years; most of the journals did not have an ISI impact factor or Eigenfactor TM Score; the ERIC database was the predominant indexing resource; and there were no published lists of journals in these subjects compiled from expert opinion
The Use of Academic Library Resources and Services by Undergraduate in Ibadan North Local Government of Nigeria
Libraries provide resources for knowledge acquisition, recreation, personal interests and inter-personal relationships for all categories of users. It enables the individual to obtain spiritual, inspirational, and recreational activities through reading, and therefore the opportunity of interacting with the society’s wealth and accumulated knowledge. This study examined the undergraduate students’ use of University library services and resources. It was affirmed the undergraduate utilized the University Libraries as learning centre. This was shown by the massive turn out to patronize the library services and resources weekly
