    Building a Mobile Advertising System for Target Marketing

    Mobile advertising has become one of the most exciting new technological frontiers in advertising area in recent years. The ubiquitous nature of mobile phones makes it possible for advertisers to target users effectively. This paper proposes a targeted mobile advertising system (TMAS) that works as a platform to provide consumers personalized ads based on the consumers’ contextual and preference. The platform allows shops to provide contextual and time-sensitive ads and consumers to locate ads and promotion information using their smart phone. A demonstration is conducted to show the validity of the key process in the TMAS

    Living Innovation Laboratory Model Design and Implementation

    Living Innovation Laboratory (LIL) is an open and recyclable way for multidisciplinary researchers to remote control resources and co-develop user centered projects. In the past few years, there were several papers about LIL published and trying to discuss and define the model and architecture of LIL. People all acknowledge about the three characteristics of LIL: user centered, co-creation, and context aware, which make it distinguished from test platform and other innovation approaches. Its existing model consists of five phases: initialization, preparation, formation, development, and evaluation. Goal Net is a goal-oriented methodology to formularize a progress. In this thesis, Goal Net is adopted to subtract a detailed and systemic methodology for LIL. LIL Goal Net Model breaks the five phases of LIL into more detailed steps. Big data, crowd sourcing, crowd funding and crowd testing take place in suitable steps to realize UUI, MCC and PCA throughout the innovation process in LIL 2.0. It would become a guideline for any company or organization to develop a project in the form of an LIL 2.0 project. To prove the feasibility of LIL Goal Net Model, it was applied to two real cases. One project is a Kinect game and the other one is an Internet product. They were both transformed to LIL 2.0 successfully, based on LIL goal net based methodology. The two projects were evaluated by phenomenography, which was a qualitative research method to study human experiences and their relations in hope of finding the better way to improve human experiences. Through phenomenographic study, the positive evaluation results showed that the new generation of LIL had more advantages in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.Comment: This is a book draf

    An approach to rollback recovery of collaborating mobile agents

    Fault-tolerance is one of the main problems that must be resolved to improve the adoption of the agents' computing paradigm. In this paper, we analyse the execution model of agent platforms and the significance of the faults affecting their constituent components on the reliable execution of agent-based applications, in order to develop a pragmatic framework for agent systems fault-tolerance. The developed framework deploys a communication-pairs independent check pointing strategy to offer a low-cost, application-transparent model for reliable agent- based computing that covers all possible faults that might invalidate reliable agent execution, migration and communication and maintains the exactly-one execution property

    Collaborative system: higher education search engine

    Malaysian universities or colleges has been one of the main attractive educational destinations to foreigners for the last decade. Malaysian educational institutions are recognized in opening doors of knowledge that fulfill student’s lives with skills, awareness and enthusiasm. There are over 20 public universities and 60 private colleges that offer a complete range of programs leading to highly regarded and internationally recognized qualifications. Despite the vast information made available by these institutions on their websites, majority of potential students face challenges in choosing the right program, courses and university that suits their needs. This research study the innovative method which could be developed and leveraged by the educational industries, specifically the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) in close collaboration with these universities and colleges, in using search engine comparator technology whereby assisting potential students in making selection. The study raises awareness of relevant collaboration initiatives that could be adopted and replicated to facilitate students and parents in making well-informed decision

    Information systems (IS) research has always been one of the leading applied research areas in the investigation of technology-related phenomena. Meanwhile, for the past 10 years, artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed every aspect of society more than any other technological innovation. Thus, this is the right time for IS research to foster more quality and high-impact research on AI starting by organizing the cumulated body of knowledge on AI in IS research. We propose a framework called AI capability framework that would provide pertinent and relevant guidance for conducting IS research on AI. Since AI is a fast-evolving phenomenon, this framework is founded on the main AI capabilities that shape today’s fast-moving AI ecosystem. Thus, it is crucial that such a framework engages both AI research and practice into a continuous and evolving dialogue

    Multi-Agent System for Decision Support in Enterprises

    Business decisions must rely not only on organisation’s internal data but also on external data from competitors or relevant events. This information can be obtained from the Web but must be integrated with the data in an organisation’s Data Warehouse (DW). In this paper we discuss the agent-based integration approach using ontologies. To enable common understanding of a domain between people and application systems we introduce business rules approach towards ontology management. Because knowledge in organisation’s ontologies is acquired from business users without technical knowledge simple user interface based on ontology restrictions and predefined templates are used. After data from internal DW, Web and business rules are acquired; agent can deduce new knowledge and therefore facilitate decision making process. Tasks like information retrieval from competitors, creating and reviewing OLAP reports are autonomously performed by agents, while business users have control over their execution through knowledge base in ontology. The approach presented in the paper was verified on the case study from the domain of mobile communications with the emphasis on supply and demand of mobile phones and its accessories
