A design recording framework to facilitate knowledge sharing in collaborative software engineering

This paper describes an environment that allows a development team to share knowledge about software artefacts by recording decisions and rationales as well as supporting the team in formulating and maintaining design constraints. It explores the use of multi-dimensional design spaces for capturing various issues arising during development and presenting this meta-information using a network of views. It describes a framework to underlie the collaborative environment and shows the supporting architecture and its implementation. It addresses how the artefacts and their meta-information are captured in a non-invasive way and shows how an artefact repository is embedded to store and manage the artefacts

The illegal settlements in Belgrade vs. taming city growth: case study of Belgrade

The paper will explore the genesis and growth of illegal settlements in Serbian capital, with the aim to present the specificity of informal housing areas and to offer a possible approach for taming its further growth. Serbia is, like some other Balkan countries, facing the problems of incoherent urban and regional development, of tackling the urban growth and of deficit of integrated urban strategies. On the other hand, specific problems of Serbia are related to the possibilities of integration of special socio-economic groups, such as low income citizens. This pressure of these problems is most visible in Belgrade since it deals with the demographic pressure and growth for a long time. As a consequence of this pressure many previously agriculture areas at the fringes of the city have become illegal settlements. On one hand, the paper will discuss spatial distribution and overall impact of illegal housing settlements in Belgrade territory, related to the sustainable urban growth and sustainable urban land use. One the other hand, it will offer the methodological framework given as the choice of aspects that should be treated in the process of integration of illegal settlements, while regulatory framework will point out the issues related to the shaping of settlements as liveable places. Conclusion remarks will emphasize the benefits and constraints of the chosen path for the integration process

EMIL RADOK AND THE TAMING OF DEMONS: THE CZECH INVENTOR OF THE MULTI-SCREEN SHOW IN CANADIAN EXILE In the Cold War era Canada was one of the main destinations of anti-Communist exile where many Czechs (and Slovaks) from the film domain found asylum. In particular, the strong wave of refugees following the 1968 Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia found a relatively benign milieu here, as the Canadian film industry and education system was developing rapidly at the time. The generous acceptance of Czech film exiles(1) was a reflection of the world-wide response to the Czechoslovak "film miracle" of the 60s and specifically also to that country's successful presentation at EXPO 1967 in Montréal.(2) Probably the most distinct Czech "mark" in the history of Canadian audio-visual culture was made by the experimental work of Emil Radok who had become famous as the founder and representative of the so-called multi-screen show.
