    Enabling Quality-Driven Scalable Video Transmission over Multi-User NOMA System

    Recently, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has been proposed to achieve higher spectral efficiency over conventional orthogonal multiple access. Although it has the potential to meet increasing demands of video services, it is still challenging to provide high performance video streaming. In this research, we investigate, for the first time, a multi-user NOMA system design for video transmission. Various NOMA systems have been proposed for data transmission in terms of throughput or reliability. However, the perceived quality, or the quality-of-experience of users, is more critical for video transmission. Based on this observation, we design a quality-driven scalable video transmission framework with cross-layer support for multi-user NOMA. To enable low complexity multi-user NOMA operations, a novel user grouping strategy is proposed. The key features in the proposed framework include the integration of the quality model for encoded video with the physical layer model for NOMA transmission, and the formulation of multi-user NOMA-based video transmission as a quality-driven power allocation problem. As the problem is non-concave, a global optimal algorithm based on the hidden monotonic property and a suboptimal algorithm with polynomial time complexity are developed. Simulation results show that the proposed multi-user NOMA system outperforms existing schemes in various video delivery scenarios.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures.     USING FILTERS IN TIME-BASED MOVIE RECOMMENDER SYSTEMS

    On a very high level, a movie recommendation system is one which uses data about the user, data about the movie and the ratings given by a user in order to generate predictions for the movies that the user will like. This prediction is further presented to the user as a recommendation. For example, Netflix uses a recommendation system to predict movies and generate favorable recommendations for users based on their profiles and the profiles of users similar to them. In user-based collaborative filtering algorithm, the movies rated highly by the similar users of a particular user are considered as recommendations to that user. But users’ preferences vary with time, which often affects the efficacy of the recommendation, especially in a movie recommendation system. Because of the constant variation of the preferences, there has been research on using time of rating or watching the movie as a significant factor for recommendation. If time is considered as an attribute in the training phase of building a recommendation model, the model might get complex. Most of the research till now does this in the training phase, however, we study the effect of using time as a factor in the post training phase and study it further by applying a genre-based filtering mechanism on the system. Employing this in the post training phase reduces the complexity of the method and also reduces the number of irrelevant recommendations

    Large-Scale MIMO Detection for 3GPP LTE: Algorithms and FPGA Implementations

    Large-scale (or massive) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is expected to be one of the key technologies in next-generation multi-user cellular systems, based on the upcoming 3GPP LTE Release 12 standard, for example. In this work, we propose - to the best of our knowledge - the first VLSI design enabling high-throughput data detection in single-carrier frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA)-based large-scale MIMO systems. We propose a new approximate matrix inversion algorithm relying on a Neumann series expansion, which substantially reduces the complexity of linear data detection. We analyze the associated error, and we compare its performance and complexity to those of an exact linear detector. We present corresponding VLSI architectures, which perform exact and approximate soft-output detection for large-scale MIMO systems with various antenna/user configurations. Reference implementation results for a Xilinx Virtex-7 XC7VX980T FPGA show that our designs are able to achieve more than 600 Mb/s for a 128 antenna, 8 user 3GPP LTE-based large-scale MIMO system. We finally provide a performance/complexity trade-off comparison using the presented FPGA designs, which reveals that the detector circuit of choice is determined by the ratio between BS antennas and users, as well as the desired error-rate performance.Comment: To appear in the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processin

    The objective of the study was to know the effect of the utilization of information technology (in term of diversity of information technology utilization and the extent of information technology utilization) toward user atisfaction of accounting information system using the task complexity as the moderating variable. This research used survey method by using questioners to gather data. The samples of this research were 44 middle and lower managers from banking industry in Bengkulu city. To test the effect of the interaction between the utilization of information technology and task complexity toward user satisfaction of accounting information system used multiple regression analysis. The research showed that the diversity and the extent of information technology had the positive significant effect toward the user satisfaction of accounting information system. The interaction between the diversity of information technology utilization and task complexity significantly influenced the user satisfaction of accounting information system, and the interaction between the extent of information technology utilization and task complexity also significantly influenced the user satisfaction of accounting information system
