On the generation of sequential unitary gates from continuous time Schrodinger equations driven by external fields
In all the various proposals for quantum computers, a common feature is that
the quantum circuits are expected to be made of cascades of unitary
transformations acting on the quantum states. A framework is proposed to
express these elementary quantum gates directly in terms of the control inputs
entering into the continuous time forced Schrodinger equation.Comment: 10 page
Switching Quantum Dynamics for Fast Stabilization
Control strategies for dissipative preparation of target quantum states, both
pure and mixed, and subspaces are obtained by switching between a set of
available semigroup generators. We show that the class of problems of interest
can be recast, from a control--theoretic perspective, into a
switched-stabilization problem for linear dynamics. This is attained by a
suitable affine transformation of the coherence-vector representation. In
particular, we propose and compare stabilizing time-based and state-based
switching rules for entangled state preparation, showing that the latter not
only ensure faster convergence with respect to non-switching methods, but can
designed so that they retain robustness with respect to initialization, as long
as the target is a pure state or a subspace.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figure
Multi-Qubit Joint Measurements in Circuit QED: Stochastic Master Equation Analysis
We derive a family of stochastic master equations describing homodyne
measurement of multi-qubit diagonal observables in circuit quantum
electrodynamics. In the regime where qubit decay can be neglected, our approach
replaces the polaron-like transformation of previous work, which required a
lengthy calculation for the physically interesting case of three qubits and two
resonator modes. The technique introduced here makes this calculation
straightforward and manifestly correct. Using this technique, we are able to
show that registers larger than one qubit evolve under a non-Markovian master
equation. We perform numerical simulations of the three-qubit, two-mode case
from previous work, obtaining an average post-measurement state fidelity of
, limited by measurement-induced decoherence and dephasing.Comment: 22 pages, 9 figures. Comments welcom
