    Enhanced suffix arrays as language models: Virtual k-testable languages

    In this article, we propose the use of suffix arrays to efficiently implement n-gram language models with practically unlimited size n. This approach, which is used with synchronous back-off, allows us to distinguish between alternative sequences using large contexts. We also show that we can build this kind of models with additional information for each symbol, such as part-of-speech tags and dependency information. The approach can also be viewed as a collection of virtual k-testable automata. Once built, we can directly access the results of any k-testable automaton generated from the input training data. Synchronous back- off automatically identies the k-testable automaton with the largest feasible k. We have used this approach in several classification tasks

    To support the programming of Wireless Sensor Networks, a number of unconventional programming models have evolved, in particular the event-based model. These models are non-intuitive to programmers due to the introduction of unnecessary, non-intrinsic complexity. Component-based languages like Insense can eliminate much of this unnecessary complexity via the use of active components and synchronous channels. However, simply layering an Insense implementation over an existing event-based system, like TinyOS, while proving efficacy, is insufficiently space and time efficient for production use.     Multi-core Code Generation from Polychronous Programs with Time-Predictable Properties (ACVI 2014)

With the rising importance of multi-core processors in safety-critical embedded systems or cyber-physical systems (CPS), there is a growing need for model-driven generation of multi-threaded code for multi-core systems. This paper proposes a build method of timepredictable system on multi-core, based on synchronous-model development. At the modeling level, the synchronous abstraction allows deterministic time semantics. Thus synchronous programming is a good choice for time-predictable system design. At the compiler level, the verified compiler from the synchronous language SIGNAL to our intermediate representation (S-CGA, a variant of guarded actions) and to multi-threaded code, preserves the time predictability. At the platform level, we propose a time-predictable multi-core architecture model in AADL (Architecture Analysis and Design Language), and then we map the multi-threaded code to this model.     Synchronous coordination systems allow the exchange of data by logically indivisible actions involving all coordinated entities. This paper introduces behavioural automata, a logically synchronous coordination model based on the Reo coordination language, which focuses on relevant aspects for the concurrent evolution of these systems. We show how our automata model encodes the Reo and Linda coordination models and how it introduces an explicit predicate that captures the concurrent evolution, distinguishing local from global actions, and lifting the need of most synchronous models to involve all entities at each coordination step, paving the way to more scalable implementations

    In this article, solutions in the field of synchronous technology of the computer-aided design of complex systems on the example of the integral structure are discussed. The main attention is paid to the methods of conceptual and functional and logical design using the tools of visual presentation. The data transfer problem between the levels of design models have been analyzed. To synchronize design models at the system level, a hexagonal conceptual model is proposed for the visual presentation of information about the integrated structures and the VI-XML language – for the implementation of the synchronous modeling environment
