Imposed Switching Frequency Direct Torque Control of Induction Machine Using Five Level Flying Capacitors Inverter

The paper proposes a new control structure for sensorless induction motor drive based on a five-level voltage source inverter (VSI). The output voltages of the five-level VSI can be represented by nine groups. Then, the amplitude and the rotating velocity of the flux vector can be controlled freely. Both fast torque and optimal switching logic can be obtained. The selection is based on the value of the stator flux and the torque. This paper investigates a new control structure focused on controlling switching frequency and torque harmonics contents. These strategies, called ISFDTC, indeed combines harmoniously both these factors, without compromising the excellence of the dynamical performances typically conferred to standard DTC strategies. The validity of the proposed control technique is verified by Matlab/Simulink. Simulation results presented in this paper confirm the validity and feasibility of the proposed control approach and can be tested on experimental setup.Peer reviewe

Self-consistent simulation of plasma scenarios for ITER using a combination of 1.5D transport codes and free-boundary equilibrium codes

Self-consistent transport simulation of ITER scenarios is a very important tool for the exploration of the operational space and for scenario optimisation. It also provides an assessment of the compatibility of developed scenarios (which include fast transient events) with machine constraints, in particular with the poloidal field (PF) coil system, heating and current drive (H&CD), fuelling and particle and energy exhaust systems. This paper discusses results of predictive modelling of all reference ITER scenarios and variants using two suite of linked transport and equilibrium codes. The first suite consisting of the 1.5D core/2D SOL code JINTRAC [1] and the free boundary equilibrium evolution code CREATE-NL [2,3], was mainly used to simulate the inductive D-T reference Scenario-2 with fusion gain Q=10 and its variants in H, D and He (including ITER scenarios with reduced current and toroidal field). The second suite of codes was used mainly for the modelling of hybrid and steady state ITER scenarios. It combines the 1.5D core transport code CRONOS [4] and the free boundary equilibrium evolution code DINA-CH [5].Comment: 23 pages, 18 figure

Multimode laser cooling and ultra-high sensitivity force sensing with nanowires

Photo-induced forces can be used to manipulate and cool the mechanical motion of oscillators. When the oscillator is used as a force sensor, such as in atomic force microscopy, active feedback is an enticing route to enhancing measurement performance. Here, we show broadband multimode cooling of −23-23 dB down to a temperature of 8±18 \pm 1~K in the stationary regime. Through the use of periodic quiescence feedback cooling, we show improved signal-to-noise ratios for the measurement of transient signals. We compare the performance of real feedback to numerical post-processing of data and show that both methods produce similar improvements to the signal-to-noise ratio of force measurements. We achieved a room temperature force measurement sensitivity of <2×10−16< 2\times10^{-16} N with integration time of less than 0.10.1 ms. The high precision and fast force microscopy results presented will potentially benefit applications in biosensing, molecular metrology, subsurface imaging and accelerometry.Comment: 16 pages and 3 figures for the main text, 14 pages and 5 figures for the supplementary informatio
