The aim of the paper is to analyze relationship between Fiat Automobile Industry supplier network, its geographical distribution and influence on regional development, and make comparison to similar situation in Italy and Czech Republic during automobile industry development. The industry in mentioned countries had and still have significant state support through subsides, taxes reliefs and employment programs, especially in regions defined as underdeveloped. The research results related with Italy and Czech Republic are opposite, because state supporting programs in Czech Republic gave positive results in automobile industry development and its relation with regional development. The regions with state supporting programs developed specific economy structure which resulted in their better position within national economy. On the other hand, case of Italy and its supporting programs showed inefficiency of state in regional development because most of the regions, after auto industry closing, experienced fall in GDP, employment and exports. The results of research showed consistency with Italian results, because found out strong concentration within Sumadija region along with low level of export orientation, making such region highly dependable on Fiat automobile industry. On the other hand, within Vojvodina region, such supplier network has been developed with export oriented suppliers, included in international automobile industry value chain, making the region more flexible and more resistant on future FIAT strategic decisions

The discrepancies between research activities and the national strategic policy of development and science and technology impact on less useful results of research and abandoned government policies/programs. One of the causes is the absences of media which that can build interactions between researchers/academics, governmennt and business entities. Therefore, it needs a social network that can help interaction and collaboration between the three types of users. The purpose of this study is to determine the technical features required in the proposed social network site. This research is done by observation method and literature study based on user centric approach. This research produces social networking features based on user types, ie researchers / academics, government, and business entities. Recomendation features for researchers / academics focus on the needs of researchers. While the government and business entities have features related to supporting research activities and utilize the results of research

Board 57: Identifying and Disseminating Transformative Professional Development of STEM Undergraduates Who Perform Outreach: Progress in Year 1

To teach STEM content to K-12 students and to recruit talented and diverse K-12 students into STEM, many outreach programs at universities in the United States rely on STEM undergraduates. While the design of such outreach typically focuses on the K-12 students who are taught or recruited, an important but often overlooked consideration is the effect of the outreach on the professional development of the STEM undergraduates themselves. This proposed EAGER project seeks to determine which outreach programs in the United States provided the most transformative professional development of the participating STEM undergraduates. This project then seeks to capture the essence what practices in those programs provided transformative professional development. Next, the project seeks to disseminate these practices to a network of institutions doing outreach. Supporting this project is the NSF EArly-concept Grant for Exploratory Research (EAGER) program. In this first year of the project, we performed a systematic review of literature and university websites with follow-up survey data to identify outreach programs that may be transformative for STEM undergraduates. This review yielded a matrix of about 100 college-based outreach programs. We then invited these programs to attend one of the following workshops: a March workshop held at Tufts University in Boston or an April workshop held at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Nine institutions sent representatives to the Boston workshop, and five institutions sent representatives to the Lincoln workshop. In addition, we held conference calls to gather information from an additional six institutions. The purpose of the workshops and conference calls was two-fold: (1) determine best practices for outreach that used STEM undergraduates, and (2) determine what in those programs provided the most transformative development of the participating STEM undergraduates. This paper presents preliminary results from these workshops and conference calls

The Radio of Republic Indonesia (Radio Republik Indonesia - RRI) is the oldest and the only government's radio which has visions to embody Indonesia public broadcasting as the extensive network radio, character development of nation, and as the world class radio. RRI has a very extensive network, from Aceh to Papua, but not many young people are interested listening to the RRI. The basic reasons of that case are the RRI image as radio news and radio for the older. Solution to overcome the matter is creating talk show programs like “Breakout” and “Kimchi” in PRO 2 RRI Semarang. Those programs are addressed to young people as the listener target. Thus, the paramount expectation by creating those programs is to increase the listener of RRI PRO 2 Semarang, in particular the young people. During the execution of those programs, the author acts as creative director who has the responsibility to make the programs more interesting by making earcatcher, voxpop, quiz and poster in supporting the process of buzzing in media social. Result of the post-production questionnaire shows that through the production of "Breakout" and "Kimchi" talk show, we succeed to increase the number of PRO 2 RRI listeners. At first the program "Kimchi" was only 8% of the initial data we collect but then increased to 67%. While the program "Breakout" which was initially 28%, then increased to 65%. Another finding is the program "Kimchi" increased more than in the "Breakout". In addition, culinary theme is the theme that most interests the listener. It is proven from the success of both talk show program that resulted from the combination of right buzzing, interesting material such as voxpop and earcatcher, good cooperation between broadcasters and sources, and a quiz with prizes
