    This paper reports on the third Early Aspects: Aspect-Oriented Requirements Engineering and Architecture Design Workshop, which has been held in Lancaster, UK, on March 21, 2004. The workshop included a presentation session and working sessions in which the particular topics on early aspects were discussed. The primary goal of the workshop was to focus on challenges to defining methodical software development processes for aspects from early on in the software life cycle and explore the potential of proposed methods and techniques to scale up to industrial applications

    A design pattern is used as a static reusable component of object oriented design in the many patterns catalogue. The regular design pattern does not show any collaboration of shared resource between patterns in the software design. But generative design pattern is a new design pattern that shows the relationship and shared resources between them. The generative design pattern is considered a dynamic and active design, which creating new design as a result of collaboration and resource usage between two designs. This paper will demonstrate benefit and the structure of generative pattern. It also demonstrates the creation of a desktop application for modeling generative design pattern. The Java language creates the desktop application. The application provides many features, for instance, users can place drawing objects such as class, Interface and Abstract Class object. The users also can draw different connection line between these objects, such as simple, inheritance, composition lines. This project shows the implementation details techniques of drawing objects and their connection. It also provides an open source code that many novice developers can understand and analysis for further development. The application source code gives the developers new ideas and skills in object oriented programming and graphical user interface in Java language

    Aspect-oriented modelling and analysis of information systems

    In this paper we introduce an approach of aspect-oriented modelling and analysis of information systems. First we give an overview of the concepts of Aspect Oriented Programming and provide an outlook to model aspect-oriented programs. On the basis of this introduction, we describe a method of using aspects at the modelling level and weaving them into a single integrated model. Finally, we extend this framework with the automatic construction of analysis models based on separate aspect models. In our example, fault tolerance structures are modelled by aspects and the analysis model is a dependability model that is used to determine the non-functional properties of the system like reliability and availability. In this way the separate design of the functionality and the dependability is supported and the design decisions concerning fault tolerance can be analysed on the basis of the dependability model

    A Framework for Evaluating Model-Driven Self-adaptive Software Systems

    In the last few years, Model Driven Development (MDD), Component-based Software Development (CBSD), and context-oriented software have become interesting alternatives for the design and construction of self-adaptive software systems. In general, the ultimate goal of these technologies is to be able to reduce development costs and effort, while improving the modularity, flexibility, adaptability, and reliability of software systems. An analysis of these technologies shows them all to include the principle of the separation of concerns, and their further integration is a key factor to obtaining high-quality and self-adaptable software systems. Each technology identifies different concerns and deals with them separately in order to specify the design of the self-adaptive applications, and, at the same time, support software with adaptability and context-awareness. This research studies the development methodologies that employ the principles of model-driven development in building self-adaptive software systems. To this aim, this article proposes an evaluation framework for analysing and evaluating the features of model-driven approaches and their ability to support software with self-adaptability and dependability in highly dynamic contextual environment. Such evaluation framework can facilitate the software developers on selecting a development methodology that suits their software requirements and reduces the development effort of building self-adaptive software systems. This study highlights the major drawbacks of the propped model-driven approaches in the related works, and emphasise on considering the volatile aspects of self-adaptive software in the analysis, design and implementation phases of the development methodologies.     An Aspect-Oriented Approach for Spatial Concerns in Web Applications

    The growing availability of on-line geographical information, since the advent of open map servers in the 2000s, originated a new generation of Web applications, those which combine “conventional” Web functionality with typical features of traditional Geographic Application System (GIS). The rapid growth in number and complexity of Web applications with geo-referenced data together with the need to support fast requirements change, demands for increased modularity. The volatility of some of these changing requirements, both in the scope of their geographic nature or in the period of time in which they are valid, stresses the importance of the applications’ modularity. A solution is to take into consideration the crosscutting nature of these requirements and decouple their realization from “conventional” requirements in separate software modules. This paper proposes an end-to-end Aspect-Oriented approach to deal with spatial requirements from the early stages of applications development throughout to implementation. A significant contribution of this approach is the characterization of the most common spatial requirements in Web-GIS applications.     Aspect-Oriented Business Process Modeling Approaches: An assessment of AOP4ST

    Aspect-oriented business process modeling (AOBPM) is an emerging discipline which has recently attracted the attention of researchers and professionals. In 2014, Amin Jalali reviewed the state of the art of AOBPM and proposed a framework to assess the available approaches. We have developed AOP4ST, an aspect-oriented process for the software development life cycle, which includes the business process modeling as its first phase, and which follows the Jalali’s recommendations. In this paper, we present the assessment of the AOP4ST’s business modeling capability by comparing it with all of the original proposals assessed by Jalali’s framework. Finally, we present ongoing work for the improvement of our approach on its AOBPM capabilities and its ability to detect and separate concerns at early stages of the development.Sociedad Argentina de Informática e Investigación Operativ

    AMBIENT-PRISMA: Distribution and Mobility in Aspect-Oriented Software Architectures

    This thesis presents a framework called Ambient-PRISMA for describing and developing distributed and mobile software systems in an abstract way. Ambient-PRISMA enriches an aspect-oriented software architecture approach called PRISMA with concepts of Ambient Calculus (AC). Ambient Calculus (AC) is a formalism that provides primitives to describe distribution and mobility characteristics in an abstract way. It introduces a concept called ambient which is a bounded place where computation happens. This enrichment is performed by extending the PRISMA metamodel, and Aspect-Oriented Architecture Description Language (AOADL).
