JuxtaLearn D3.2 Performance Framework
This deliverable, D3.2, for Work Package 3 incorporating the pedagogy from WP2 and orchestration factors mapped in D3.1 reviews aspects of performance in the context of participative video making. A framework for developing and implementing an online learning community
Developing online learning communities is a promising pedagogical approach in online learning contexts for adult tertiary learners, but it is no easy task. Understanding how learning communities are formed and evaluating their efficacy in supporting learning involves a complex set of issues that have a bearing on the design and facilitation of successful online learning experiences. This paper describes the development of a framework for understanding and developing an online learning community for adult tertiary learners in a New Zealand tertiary institution. In accord with sociocultural views of learning and practices, the framework depicts learning as a mediated, situated, distributed, goal-directed, and participatory activity within a socially and culturally determined learning community. Evidence for the value of the framework is grounded in the findings of a case study of a semester-long fully online asynchronous graduate course. The framework informs our understanding of appropriate conditions for the development and conduct of online learning communities. Implications are presented for the design and facilitation of learning in such contexts
Physicality and Cooperative Design
CSCW researchers have increasingly come to realize that material work setting and its population of artefacts play a crucial part in coordination of distributed or co-located work. This paper uses the notion of physicality as a basis to understand cooperative work. Using examples from an ongoing fieldwork on cooperative design practices, it provides a conceptual understanding of physicality and shows that material settings and co-workerâs working practices play an important role in understanding physicality of cooperative design
Context-based access control for ridesharing service
The paper describes a context-based access control model for a ridesharing service. Ridesharing is a shared use of a car by the driver and one or more passengers for a joint trip. The service is based on the smart space concept. For this purpose the Smart-M3 platform is used. Currently the Smart-M3 platform doesn't have an appropriate access control mechanism meeting the following requirements: supporting a flexible, descriptive and well-defined policy language and taking into consideration the context information. Therefore, the usage of the context-based access control model has been proposed. This model is built as a combination of the role-based and attribute-based access control models. It uses roles, which are assigned dynamically based on the user's context, and meets the requirements to the access control in the smart space. An analysis of information transfer through the ridesharing service modules is used for defining the user's context. The model has been implemented within an access control broker, which controls the access to the smart space resources
