Collaborative Learning and Knowledge Transfer in Consciousness Society

    Get PDF
Starting from the expression "workplace learning†which states that the use of personal computers at work or at school reflects learning activities and work activities which are interchangeable at individual level, this paper presents collaborative models dedicated to processes of teaching, learning, assessment and research in education. One of the most important activities is represented by computer supported collaborative learning (CSCL) which, from its occurrence, presented a special interest for researchers in informatics. CSCL is based on human-computer interaction (HCI) and on computer supported cooperative work (CSCW). CSCL promotes in turn the development of computer supported collaborative research (CSCR). Information and communications technologies represent not only a media support but, most of all, a mean for accessing resources worldwide. The development of the information technology and of the information society brought benefits both to the traditional form of education, and to the distance education represented by the assisted instruction. The evolution of the information society led to the emergence of the society based on knowledge which represents an intermediary step between information society and consciousness society, who wants to be a moral society. This article highlights the transfer of data, information and knowledge (explicit and implicit) during assisted instruction processes along with the possibility to create collaborative content in consciousness society.CSCW, CSCL, CSCR Assisted Instruction, Consciousness Society

With the increasing social demand for information, computer network communication is also developing. The development of social economic and cultural activities in the information age cannot be separated from the support of computer network communication. In today's society, the network has penetrated into all fields of society, and the application scope of computer network communication technology has expanded significantly, providing a strong support for the development of emerging industries and social and economic progress. The development of computer network has brought great convenience to people's life. The integration of computer network technology and communication technology will meet people's needs to a greater extent. Therefore, computer network communication will be the trend of the new era, and the integration of the two is of great significance to the development of computer network. This paper analyzes the development status of computer network communication in the new period, introduces the development trend of computer network communication in the new period, and lays a good foundation for the improvement of computer network communication technology

Secure web application development and global regulation

    Get PDF
The World Wide Web (WWW) has been predominantly responsible for instigating radical paradigm transformations in today’s global information rich civilizations. Many societies have basic operational economical components that depend on Web enabled systems in order to support daily commercial activities. The acceptance of E-commerce as a valid channel for conducting business coupled with societal integration and dependence on Web enabled technology has instigated the development of local, national, and global efforts to regulate criminal activities on the World Wide Web. This paper makes two contributions. The first contribution is the high-level review of the United States and United Kingdom legislation that has developed from the escalation and integration of the World Wide Web into society. The second contribution is the support for the idea that legislative compatibility, in concert with an organization’s policy compatibility, needs to be acknowledged in secure Web application development methodologies

This book is the final report of the ECLAC-IDRC project Observatory for the Information Society in Latin American and the Caribbean (OSILAC), Third Phase”. OSILAC III is a cooperating project between the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Division of Production, Productivity and Management, ECLAC-UN, which aims at understanding the dynamics of the ICT evolution and revolution and producing evidence on its potential to support socio-economic development, particularly in developing countries. As such, microdata analysis drawn from National Household Surveys and National Innovation Surveys in Latin America were used in the framework of the project in the attempt to reach those objectives Both statistical information sources provide attractive potentialities in order to investigate not only determinants of innovation activities and technology diffusion, but also its economic impacts.ICT, Innovation, Productivity

Supporting strategic cultural change: The Strathclyde learning technology initiative as a model

    Get PDF
This paper describes the strategies being developed at the University of Strathclyde in response to the vision in the Dearing Report of a learning society in which Communication and Information Technology (C&IT) is central to students' learning experiences. The Strathclyde Learning Technology Initiative aims to support strategic change in the development and use of new learning technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of teaching and learning within the University. In order for a major cultural shift in teaching and learning to take effect there are three main areas that need to be addressed: (i) many academics still work within a traditional teaching framework and believe that these methods can simply be transferred to the Web, (ii) students who have been taught in a traditional teaching environment need support in acquiring new learning skills for an electronic learning environment, and (iii) new methods of learning and teaching can only be successfully integrated within the environment of a supporting infrastructure and institutional climate. These key elements are further explored, drawing on the lessons learned from the implementation of the Initiative, and suggestions are made for ways of surmounting the barriers to the uptake of C&IT perceived by academics

The Information Society and the International Technology Transfer

    Get PDF
The subject of this paper, based on the existing technologies, and on the wide frequency internet-access, is an analysis of the international technology transfer process using the e-learning concept, using traditional and modern methods and techniques and the IT&C technologies and leading to the understanding of the knowledge and abilities of this field. This paper points out the importance of the international technology transfer both between countries or firms, but also the essential role of the superior academic teaching in the workforce production. They should handle this international transfer and should also create a new technology that would eventually make the object of an international transfer and may serve the development of our society. Thus, central issue to this paper is the development of the information and communication science and technology that could create a new range of products and services, due to a more rapid innovation process. Managers should thus permanently consider exploiting the knowledge potential in order to ensure the competitive advantages and to increase productivity. A positive impact application amongst youngsters should consist in an interactive virtual environment, where participants could support the development of technological programs launched by the big companies in the field of high-tech.technology transfer, eficiency, e-learning
