    Performance Measurement System Based on Supply Chain Operations Reference Model: Review and Proposal

    Current study provides a performance measurement system (PMS) based on Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) adapted for the service sector. A systematic literature review was conducted on 16 performance measurement systems, which included 44 performance indicators and various performance metrics. Performance indicators and metrics were sorted according to conceptual similarities and then related to the five management processes intrinsic to SCOR model (plan, source, make, deliver and return). Indicators researched in a review of the literature were classified into six groups, namely, financial, velocity, sustainability, quality, resource utilization and customer services. The proposed PMS fills a gap in literature by forwarding a tool for the evaluation of the supply chain performance within the service sector

    Sustainability adoption through buyer supplier relationship across supply chain: A literature review and conceptual framework

    AbstractThe sustainability of an entire supply chain and the final product is affected by the sustainability performance of each partner in the chain. The buyer-supplier relationship plays an important role in improving sustainability of the supply chain. This paper aims to provide a systematic review of existing literature on the adoption of sustainability practices through supply relationships. To this end, a structured literature review has been carried out that analyzes published research, evaluates contributions, and summarizes the results. The authors selected only those papers that discussed sustainability practices adoption and relationship management in the supply chain. An in-depth analysis of the supply chain and its processes reveals that a buyer-supplier relationship should be determined on the basis of the capability and capacity of the partner (supplier). In cases where the supplier firm lacks capability or capacity, the focal firm may decide to help or extend support. The buyer-supplier relationship starts with selecting suppliers based on their sustainability standards. In order to give a better understanding of the mechanisms active, and processes involved in the development of a sustainable supply chain, the authors offer a conceptual model.     Lean Supply Chain Management: Insights from bibliometric analysis and literature review

    The covid-19 pandemic has impacted many countries and with it arose a growing concern of organizations about the vulnerability and low resilience of global supply chains. The incorporation of lean manufacturing in the supply chains enables the systematic reduction of activities that do not add value in an organization and within a chain could improve business performance, which can be widely extended between areas. Thus, this paper aims to investigate the advancement of knowledge about the lean supply chain through bibliometric indicators of scientific production and literature review. Among the research results, the number of publications increased over the years (1996-2021), and the countries that published the most on the topic are Brazil (46 documents), Malaysia (42), and the United States of America (40). The most applied tool was the Value Stream Mapping (VSM). As for future research, there is a need to propose more applied and comprehensive research; study the impact of lean on the supply chain; evaluate the Lean Supply Chain implementation process, and study the relationship between sustainability and Lean Supply Chain Management

    A methodology to select suppliers to increase sustainability within supply chains

    [EN] Sustainability practice within supply chains remains in an early development phase. Enterprises still need tools that support the integration of sustainability strategy into their activity, and to align their sustainability strategy with the supplier selection process. This paper proposes a methodology using a multi-criteria technique to support supplier selection decisions by taking two groups of inputs that integrate sustainability performance: supply chain performance and supplier assessment criteria. With the proposed methodology, organisations will have a tool to select suppliers based on their development towards sustainability and on their alignment with the supply chain strategy towards sustainability.     Lean and green – a systematic review of the state of the art literature

    The move towards greener operations and products has forced companies to seek alternatives to balance efficiency gains and environmental friendliness in their operations and products. The exploration of the sequential or simultaneous deployment of lean and green initiatives is the results of this balancing action. However, the lean-green topic is relatively new, and it lacks of a clear and structured research definition. Thus, this paper’s main contribution is the offering of a systematic review of the existing literature on lean and green, aimed at providing guidance on the topic, uncovering gaps and inconsistencies in the literature, and finding new paths for research. The paper identifies and structures, through a concept map, six main research streams that comprise both conceptual and empirical research conducted within the context of various organisational functions and industrial sectors. Important issues for future research are then suggested in the form of research questions. The paper’s aim is to also contribute by stimulating scholars to further study this area in depth, which will lead to a better understanding of the compatibility and impact on organisational performance of lean and green initiatives. It also holds important implications for industrialists, who can develop a deeper and richer knowledge on lean and green to help them formulate more effective strategies for their deployment

    Examining sustainability performance in the supply chain: The case of the Greek dairy sector

Copyright @ 2013 Elsevier B.V.This paper evaluates the sustainability performance of the Greek dairy chain and the performance of its individual members by using key indicators in relation to efficiency, flexibility, responsiveness and product quality. We assessed the importance of these indicators based on the relevant perceptions of key members of this chain. A structured questionnaire was developed where nineteen sustainability-related issues were examined. Two hundred and fifty three members of the Greek dairy supply chain responded including breeders, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and catering companies. Our findings illustrate the immediate need for improvement in many key sustainability performance indicators. They also show the critical role of large dairy manufacturers who are the “sustainability performance champions” in this chain and are the driving force for the implementation of many sustainability initiatives.European Unio

    Performance measurement : challenges for tomorrow

    This paper demonstrates that the context within which performance measurement is used is changing. The key questions posed are: Is performance measurement ready for the emerging context? What are the gaps in our knowledge? and Which lines of enquiry do we need to pursue? A literature synthesis conducted by a team of multidisciplinary researchers charts the evolution of the performance-measurement literature and identifies that the literature largely follows the emerging business and global trends. The ensuing discussion introduces the currently emerging and predicted future trends and explores how current knowledge on performance measurement may deal with the emerging context. This results in identification of specific challenges for performance measurement within a holistic systems-based framework. The principle limitation of the paper is that it covers a broad literature base without in-depth analysis of a particular aspect of performance measurement. However, this weakness is also the strength of the paper. What is perhaps most significant is that there is a need for rethinking how we research the field of performance measurement by taking a holistic systems-based approach, recognizing the integrated and concurrent nature of challenges that the practitioners, and consequently the field, face

    Quantifying the Sustainability of Products and Suppliers in Food Distribution Companies

    [EN] Supplier evaluation is a relevant task of supply chain management where multicriteria methods make great contributions to manufacturing industries. This is not the case in food distribution companies, which have a key role in providing safe and affordable food to society. The purpose of this research is to measure the sustainability of products and suppliers in food distribution companies through a multiple criteria approach. Firstly, the system proposed provides indicators to qualify products and assess the food quality, using the compensatory Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) model. Secondly, these indicators are included in supplier evaluation, which takes economic, environmental, and social criteria into account. MAUT and Preference Ranking Organisation Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE), a non-compensatory method, are used for supplier evaluation. This approach has been validated for fresh food in a supermarket chain, mainly using historical data. Partial indicators, such as food safety scores, together with global indicators of suppliers, inform the most appropriate decisions and the most appropriate relations between companies and providers. Poor performance in food safety can lead to the disqualification of some suppliers.
