Multiuser MIMO-OFDM Systems using Subcarrier Hopping
Recently space division multiple access (SDMA) assisted multiple-inputâmultiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems invoking multiuser detection (MUD) techniques have attracted substantial research interest, which is capable of exploiting both transmitter multiplexing gain and receiver diversity gain. A new scheme referred to here as slowsubcarrierhopping (SSCH) assisted multiuser SDMA-OFDM, is proposed. It is shown that, with the aid of the so-called uniform SSCH (USSCH) pattern, the multiuser interference (MUI) experienced by the high-throughput SDMA-OFDM system can be effectively suppressed, resulting in a significant performance improvement. In the investigations conducted, the proposed USSCH-aided SDMA-OFDM system was capable of outperforming a range of SDMA-OFDM systems considered, including the conventional SDMA-OFDM system dispensing with the employment of frequency-hopping techniques. For example, at an Eb/N0 value of 12 dB, the proposed USSCH/SDMA-OFDM system reduced the bit error ratio (BER) by about three orders of magnitude, in comparison to the conventional SDMA-OFDM system, while maintaining a similar computational complexity
Weighted Max-Min Resource Allocation for Frequency Selective Channels
In this paper, we discuss the computation of weighted max-min rate allocation
using joint TDM/FDM strategies under a PSD mask constraint. We show that the
weighted max-min solution allocates the rates according to a predetermined rate
ratio defined by the weights, a fact that is very valuable for
telecommunication service providers. Furthermore, we show that the problem can
be efficiently solved using linear programming. We also discuss the resource
allocation problem in the mixed services scenario where certain users have a
required rate, while the others have flexible rate requirements. The solution
is relevant to many communication systems that are limited by a power spectral
density mask constraint such as WiMax, Wi-Fi and UWB
Resource Allocation for Outdoor-to-Indoor Multicarrier Transmission with Shared UE-side Distributed Antenna Systems
In this paper, we study the resource allocation algorithm design for downlink
multicarrier transmission with a shared user equipment (UE)-side distributed
antenna system (SUDAS) which utilizes both licensed and unlicensed frequency
bands for improving the system throughput. The joint UE selection and
transceiver processing matrix design is formulated as a non-convex optimization
problem for the maximization of the end-to-end system throughput (bits/s). In
order to obtain a tractable resource allocation algorithm, we first show that
the optimal transmitter precoding and receiver post-processing matrices jointly
diagonalize the end-to-end communication channel. Subsequently, the
optimization problem is converted to a scalar optimization problem for multiple
parallel channels, which is solved by using an asymptotically optimal iterative
algorithm. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed resource allocation
algorithm for the SUDAS achieves an excellent system performance and provides a

Fairness Evaluation in Cooperative Hybrid Cellular Systems
Many method has been applied previously to improve the fairness of a wireless communication system. In this paper, we propose using hybrid schemes, where more than one transmission scheme are used in one system, to achieve this objective. These schemes consist of cooperative transmission schemes, maximal ratio transmission and interference alignment, and non-cooperative schemes, orthogonal and non-orthogonal schemes used alongside and in combinations in the same system to improve the fairness. We provide different weight calculation methods to vary the output of the fairness problem. We show the solution of the radio resource allocation problem for the transmission schemes used. Finally, simulation results is provided to show fairness achieved, in terms of Jain's fairness index, by applying the hybrid schemes proposed and the different weight calculation methods at different inter-site distances
