To analyze e-commerce adoption behavior of Z generation in Mongolia. The effects of personal innovativeness, perceived usefulness, social influence and perceived risk on intention through the mediation role of attitude were specifically examined. In order to achieve the purpose of the research, a survey was conducted on consumers who experienced online shopping malls from October 21, 2020 to November 2, 2020. A total of 332 effective questionnaires were collected and the data were analyzed by using the SPSS and Smart PLS 3.3 programs. The current study reveals an individual’s perceptions of the usefulness of personal innovativeness and social influence, which were important factors towards the adoption of e-commerce. Individuals who have a higher degree of perceived risk have a higher preference to try products without a prior evaluation. Marketers who intend to expand into developing markets such as Mongolia are advised to consider consumer generation and attitudes towards adopting new technology. The study enhances our perception about young generation in Mongolia, whose behavior and action are similar to those young people, who live in a developed country. Background: The rapid increase in the adoption of the internet in developing countries and the growth of citizen-centric e-government technologies has sparked interest in electronic voting (e-voting) systems. E-voting systems enable voters to participate in elections remotely, using internet-based technologies. In 2020, the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa stated its intention to introduce e-voting to lower the costs of voting, improve electoral transparency and efficiency, and to improve overall voter participation. There is, however, little research to explain the factors that could potentially influence voters, particularly young people (18-35 years) who are a growing voting demographic with a declining interest in electoral participation. Objective: The primary objective of this research is to investigate the factors that influence the intention of young people to adopt electronic voting in South Africa. Secondarily, the study seeks to investigate how South African youth perceive e-voting. Research methodology: Using a deductive approach, a conceptual model with constructs from the technology acceptance model (TAM), the theory of planned behaviour (TPB), and the diffusion of innovation theory (DOI) is proposed. An online survey is used to collect data (n = 412) from South African youth between the ages of 18 – 35 years. Key Findings: Structural equation modelling and factor analysis applied on a pretested and pre-validated quantitative survey reveal that technology stickiness, access to ICT, skills in ICT, attitude towards ICT, relative advantage and political affiliation positively impact the intention to use e-voting. Eighty-one (81%) percent of respondents agree that they will use e-voting should it become available. Value of the study: The study contributions are twofold. First, the research proposes an empirically tested theoretical framework to assess the intentions of youths to participate in e-voting and second, the study the study makes recommendations for policymakers regarding the e-voting perceptions of young people

Background and Objective: Explosion in information technology knowledge and utilization among young people, referred to as digital natives, seems less explored in the health sector and training. This study was aimed to assess awareness, attitude and expectations of physiotherapy students on telerehabilitation. Methods: This cross-sectional survey employed systematic probability sampling technique to recruit 200 physiotherapy students. A self-developed questionnaire which was tested for its face and content validity was used to obtain data. Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Alpha level was set at p < 0.05. Results: The mean age of the respondents was 21.2 ± 2.04 years. There was higher prevalence of moderate awareness (43%) and positive attitude towards telerehabilitation (39%). Majority of the respondents (62%) had high expectation towards future telerehabilitation products and services. There was significant association between level of awareness of telerehabilitation and age (X2 = 7.119; p = 0.001). Discussion: The responding students in this study are by age in the class of digital natives, who should be conversant with technology. This could account for the higher moderate level of awareness of telerehabilitation. However, the higher rates of negative attitude towards telerehabilitation could be attributed to prevailing barriers to its utilization in Nigeria. Nonetheless, a large percentage of the students had high expectations for the future of telerehabilitation. Conclusion: Nigerian physiotherapy students have moderate awareness and high expectation for future telerehabilitation applications. However, a larger number of them hold negative attitude towards it use

Modern technology has hit the world with a bug and Kenya has not been spared. Modern technology devices and applications use has gone up tremendously in last ten years with the adoption by both the young and the old growing day by day. People have incorporated technology in the way they communicate, entertain, learn and even how they socially relate with one another. Such a massive technology has brought with it challenges and opportunities. This study was aimed at critically analyzing impacts of the modern technology on the students’ social relationship in Kenyan schools. The researchers therefore sought to critically analyze the use of modern technology, the attitude of the students towards modern technology and the pros and cons of modern technology on students’ social relationships in Kenyan schools. The methodology used was qualitative in nature. The study also employed critical analysis design which was non-interactive, where the researchers analyzed critically the available literature to back up the methodology. The finding of the study may be of great importance to all students since they may be made aware of how modern technology impacts on their social relationships. The study concluded that technology needs to be backed by face- to- face interaction in order to establish and maintain strong and meaningful social relationships. The study had the following recommendations: That students should strike a balance between times spend interacting with technology and face- to- face interactions with friends and families. Teachers should provide opportunities that allow more interactions among students on face-to-face basis in order to encourage development of social and communication skills. A meta-analysis of global youth environmental knowledge, attitude and behavior studies

    Get PDF
There is a considerable body of literature on research on environmental knowledge, attitude and action. A lot of research has occurred on the primary and secondary school populations and the general population. However, much less emphasis has been placed on studies that concern post-compulsory education students in the range from 16 to 18 years old. The purpose of this review was to give an overview of environmental knowledge, attitude and action research with a particular emphasis on youth. The findings of a majority of studies reported a positive attitude towards the environment and a variety of levels of environmental knowledge. Behavior was not extensively studied. A number of studies found that females had a more positive attitude towards the environment than males. The majority of studies indicate that the main sources of environmental information for youth are television, books, newspapers, schools and friends. The main environmental problems mentioned by students were air pollution, water pollution, the loss of biological diversity and “population increase in the big cities” and hazardous waste. Most studies used quantitative techniques to gather data. The most commonly used instrument was a questionnaire with multiple choice questions and a Likert type scale particularly to measure attitudes. Considering the mainly quantitative nature of these studies, more appropriate sampling strategies, contextualized research instruments and statistical analysis should have been carried out to ensure more robust statistical findings.peer-reviewe

Teaching science and technology at primary school level: theoretical and practical considerations for primary school teachers' professional training.

    Get PDF
This paper focuses on the importance of starting science and technology education at a young age and at the consequential importance of providing primary school teachers with enough professional background to be able to effectively incorporate science and technology into their teaching. We will discuss a large-scale program in The Netherlands that is aimed at the professionalization of elementary school teachers in the field of science and technology. Theoretical and practical considerations will be provided for the three pillars that ideally should be included in teacher training programs in this domain: (1) Primary school teachers’ knowledge of and competency in scientific concepts and scientific reasoning; (2) Primary school teachers’ attitude towards science (in terms of cognitive, affective, and behavioural dimensions of attitude); and (3) Primary school teachers’ pedagogical competency to enhance inquiry-based learning

The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between brand awareness, attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control and purchase intention towards halal cosmetics among Muslim women in Indonesia. The questionnaires were distributed to 304 Muslim women at Medan, Banda Aceh, and DKI Jakarta within end of January until early February 2019. To investigate the relationships between factors; the structural equation modelling (SEM-PLS) version 2.0 was used to analysed the data. The finding of this study has found that two components of TPB (attitude, perceived behavioural control) and brand awareness are positively related with purchase intention towards halal cosmetics, while subjective norm is found to be insignificant. The result shows that positive attitude is the most important factor to increase consumer purchase intention toward halal cosmetics. The result of this study provides information to cosmetics’ firm that Muslim women with high brand awareness, attitude and perceived behavioral control will have high purchase intention toward halal cosmetic products. The findings of this study contribute valuable information to scholars, policy makers and firms in order to understand Muslim customers in Indonesia.
