Ethical sourcing : an analysis of the literature and implications for future research

The purpose of this study is to present a rigorous, focused review on how this field of ethical sourcing research has grown and evolved over the decades, providing implications for future research. We combine two research methodologies in this study: a systematic literature review and a citation network analysis. The former is used as a scientific tool to select the most relevant ethical sourcing articles, while the latter is then applied as a research technique to analyse these selected articles. Such a combined approach allows for a rigorous investigation into this field of research in a more scientific and objective way. Based on this approach, we identify (1) distinctive features of ethical sourcing studies such as growth trends and content issues; (2) important articles that have played a significant role in developing this field; (3) evolutionary paths that show how its knowledge has been created and transferred; (4) emerging trends that have received growing attention in the recent literature; (5) main research areas that underlie the entire ethical sourcing studies; and (6) major implications that need to be pursued in future research. The results of this study provide not only the current status of the literature but also the patters of evolution in this field of research, thus contributing to the existing literature

Effects of Financial Education and Financial Literacy on Creative Entrepreneurship: A Worldwide Research

The limited attention given to financial education in the development of student competencies can undermine the decision making of individuals in their adulthood. This circumstance has been widely studied in the literature, where the effect of financial literacy on creative entrepreneurship is influenced. The objective of this study is to analyze global research trends on the effect of financial education and financial literacy with the creativity of individual entrepreneurship. For this, a bibliometric analysis was carried out on 665 documents related to the subject of study during 1990–2018 period. The results show the most influential journals, authors, institutions, countries, and areas of knowledge on this scientific research. This work detects the main trends and patterns to offer a vision of the relationship between financial education and creative entrepreneurship. It should be noted that this research area has become a relevant field of study in education, finance, business, and management issues

Sustainability in Software Engineering

The intersection between software engineering re- search and the problems related to sustainability and green IT has been the subject of increasing attention. In spite of that, we observe that sustainability is still not clearly defined, or understood, in the field of software engineering. This lack of clarity leads to confusion about e.g. what is relevant to measure or the research implications over time or space. This paper provides an overview of how the research so far has defined sustainability, and how this definition has been used to guide which research areas. To this end, we carried out a systematic mapping study for selecting, classifying and analyzing relevant publications. Big Data as a Technology-to-think-with for Scientific Literacy

This research aimed to identify indications of scientific literacy resulting from a didactic and investigative interaction with Google Trends Big Data software by first-year students from a high-school in Novo Hamburgo, Southern Brazil. Both teaching strategies and research interpretations lie on four theoretical backgrounds. Firstly, Bunge's epistemology, which provides a thorough characterization of Science that was central to our study. Secondly, the conceptual framework of scientific literacy of Fives et al. that makes our teaching focus precise and concise, as well as supports one of our methodological tool: the SLA (scientific literacy assessment). Thirdly, the "crowdledge" construct from dos Santos, which gives meaning to our study when as it makes the development of scientific literacy itself versatile for paying attention on sociotechnological and epistemological contemporary phenomena. Finally, the learning principles from Papert's Constructionism inspired our educational activities. Our educational actions consisted of students, divided into two classes, investigating phenomena chose by them. A triangulation process to integrate quantitative and qualitative methods on the assessments results was done. The experimental design consisted in post-tests only and the experimental variable was the way of access to the world. The experimental group interacted with the world using analyses of temporal and regional plots of interest of terms or topics searched on Google. The control class did 'placebo' interactions with the world through on-site observations of bryophytes, fungus or whatever in the schoolyard. As general results of our research, a constructionist environment based on Big Data analysis showed itself as a richer strategy to develop scientific literacy, compared to a free schoolyard exploration.Comment: 23 pages, 2 figures, 8 table

Recent Trends in Digital Library Publications: A Scientometric Analysis

The study seeks to illustrate the most current trends in digital library research via the use of scientometrics. The study of scientific networks is important in many scientific domains. A social network with many nodes and connections serves as the foundation for scientific network research. Nodes include authors, publications, and journals, while linkages include citations, cocitations, and coauthorship. Data was collected from the Scopus abstracting and citation database for the period of ten years from 2012 to 2021. The most relevant 1957 documents were chosen from the collection, and selected documents were analyzed using Biblioshny and VOSviewer. The research showed that digital library productivity is rising annually, the United States of America dominates the production of scholarly production on digital libraries, and research is increasingly focused on digital resource and digital collection development. However, artificial intelligence, deep learning, machine learning, big data, and other related areas of study have emerged as the most recent research trends in digital library research. Special Collection 2: Determinants of Diverging Trends in Mortality is a set of papers stemming from the first seminar of the Committee on Emerging Health Threats (CEHT) of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), "Determinants of Diverging Trends of Mortality". The seminar was held in Rostock (Germany) from 19-21 June 2002. The seminar encouraged studies on adverse mortality trends and widening mortality differentials between and within countries. Thirteen contributions were submitted to the journal Demographic Research and went through peer review. They were published, along with an introduction, on 16 April 2004 as the journal’s second “special collection†of material on a common topic. This short summary of the collection has been added to Volume 10 in order to include full details of the collection in the current running volume as well. Research Trend of Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) in Physics Learning Through Bibliometric Analysis in 2011-2020 using Scopus Database and the Contribution of Indonesia

Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) are controversial topics that have a scientific basis and important to society. This study aims to analyze the trends of SSI research publications from 2011-2020, visualize SSI research trends and how Indonesian researchers contribute to SSI research. This study was conducted on April 18, 2021, using bibliometric analysis. Data obtained is 225 data and taken by using Scopus database with "socio-scientific issues in physics" as the keyword from 2011 until 2020. After that, the data mapping was carried out using VOS Viewer software. Based on the result research, it can be concluded that the most topic in SSI research is related to scientific literacy, argumentation, and global warming. The visualization result shows that SSI has many effects on science learning, especially to improve argumentation skills. From 35 countries, Indonesia became the largest contribution research documents in SSI by placing two representative institutions: Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Indonesia also contributed the most prolific SSI writer, Widodo became the most prolific writer

Cooperation in R&D as a leading indicator of innovative activity growth

Purpose: The article is focused on new trends in cooperation activity in research and development in the manufacturing industries of Russia. Various types of cooperation are considered, special attention is paid to research organizations and universities. Design/Methodology/Approach: In the context of this issue, it seems necessary to consider the conceptual framework and information basis for the analysis of scientific activity, to study the problems of scientific and technical cooperation, based on the works of foreign and domestic scientists and to develop indicators of cooperative activities. Finding: Authors proposed to rank the regions of Russia by the level of cooperation activity based on a specially developed hidden indicator. Comparison of the results obtained with regional layers of the costs of R&D suggests that joint research and development activities are typical for those regions that pay considerable attention to development of science. Ranking regions of Russia in terms of cooperative activity allowed identifying the leaders and outsiders of this process. Practical implications: The results of the study can be used in the development of measures of regional development of the country in the implementation of R&D. Public survey instruments for business administration using social network analysis and big data

Purpose: The subject matter of this research is closely intertwined with the scientific discussion about the necessity of developing and implementing practice-oriented means of measuring social well-being taking into account the intensity of contacts between individuals. The aim of the research is to test the toolkit for analyzing social networks and to develop a research algorithm to identify sources of consolidation of public opinion and key agents of influence. The research methodology is based on postulates of sociology, graph theory, social network analysis and cluster analysis. Design/Methodology/Approach: The basis for the empirical research was provided by the data representing the reflection of social media users on the existing image of Russia and its activities in the Arctic, chosen as a model case. Findings: The algorithm allows to estimate the density and intensity of connections between actors, to trace the main channels of formation of public opinion and key agents of influence, to identify implicit patterns and trends, to relate information flows and events with current information causes and news stories for the subsequent formation of a "cleansed" image of the object under study and the key actors with whom this object is associated. Practical Implications: The work contributes to filling the existing gap in the scientific literature, caused by insufficient elaboration of the issues of applying the social network analysis to solve sociological problems. Exploring trends in environmental pollution and hazardous chemical waste reporting

In contemporary society, environmental pollution and hazardous chemical waste are pressing concerns. This study investigates reporting trends related to environmental pollution and hazardous chemical waste in twelve scientific journals and daily newspapers. Notably, we found that the year 2013 marked a significant peak with the highest number of articles on these topics. Understanding the publishing and reporting trends of these subjects is pivotal for informed public education and underscores the significant influence of scientific research in shaping media reporting. As the global community faces increasing environmental challenges, accurate and scientific-based reporting is essential for fostering public awareness and facilitating effective solutions
