    Application of fuzzy AHP in selection of accounting elective courses in undergraduate and graduate level

In this study selection criteria of accounting elective courses in business undergraduate and accounting graduate education are determined from the viewpoint of students. For this purpose survey consisting of course selection main criteria and sub-criteria was designed and conducted with final year students in business administration undergraduate and accounting graduate level students via four different fuzzy ranking methods.     The Assessment of the Usability of Digital Educational Resources: An interdisciplinary analysis from two systematic reviews

    Producción CientíficaInternational reports analyzing current and future educational trends with an emphasis on technologies applied to education declare the importance of the design and application of digital educational resources. Guaranteeing its usability allows obtaining an adequate resource with a high pedagogical and technological quality. The objective of this paper is to analyze the empirical researches to determine if exists convergence between educational and computational researches on the assessment of the usability of digital educational resources. To fulfill the objective, the PRISMA protocol was used to carry out two systematic reviews and answer the two scientific questions. The results show that in few cases an adequate integration is achieved between: (1) the criteria for assessing usability as established by Software Engineering; (2) the methods and computational models to assess usability and, (3) the criteria established in pedagogical usability. Due to these shortcomings, a model for evaluating the usability of digital educational resources is proposed as future work. It concludes with the importance of interdisciplinary integration to assess the usability of digital educational resources

    The state of the art development of AHP (1979-2017): a literature review with a social network analysis

    Although many papers describe the evolution of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), most adopt a subjective approach. This paper examines the pattern of development of the AHP research field using social network analysis and scientometrics, and identifies its intellectual structure. The objectives are: (i) to trace the pattern of development of AHP research; (ii) to identify the patterns of collaboration among authors; (iii) to identify the most important papers underpinning the development of AHP; and (iv) to discover recent areas of interest. We analyse two types of networks: social networks, that is, co-authorship networks, and cognitive mapping or the network of disciplines affected by AHP. Our analyses are based on 8441 papers published between 1979 and 2017, retrieved from the ISI Web of Science database. To provide a longitudinal perspective on the pattern of evolution of AHP, we analyse these two types of networks during the three periods 1979–1990, 1991–2001 and 2002–2017. We provide some basic statistics on AHP journals and researchers, review the main topics and applications of integrated AHPs and provide direction for future research by highlighting some open questions

    Hybrid fuzzy analytical hierarchy process with fuzzy inference system on ranking stem approach towards blended learning in mathematics

    In the era of Education 4.0, blended learning has been selected as one of the transformational pedagogies for the teaching and learning process that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), a new norm that needs to be adopted by Malaysia. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the issue has been highlighted at most levels of study in the education field. However, limited knowledge of the implementation of 21st Century learning skills with Web 2.0 among teachers has made the students demotivated for their mathematics classroom. Moreover, dynamic changes in the standard curriculum have made the situation more challenging for teachers in selecting the appropriate STEM approach to ensure students are fully engaged. Inspired by the problem, this research used fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) concepts. A hybrid fuzzy MCDM model proposes a four stages process to rank and find the best implementation STEM approach in the mathematics classroom. The model is constructed by integrating the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) to determine the weights of STEM criteria and sub-criteria and the Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) to compute the best STEM approach in the mathematics classroom. The procedure involves exploring the issue associated with the selection problems, deriving decision criteria important weights, and ranking various alternatives with applied intuitive multiple centroids as a defuzzification method. The results showed hands-on activities as the best STEM approach while requisite knowledge is the important criterion with the greatest value of weights. Thus, the proposed model helps provide a clear picture for teachers in the implementation of STEM approach in Mathematics based on a comprehensive view and also lay a new foundation knowledge in fuzzy MCDM view, particularly in STEM education. Also, it helps the Ministry of Education (MoE) to achieve one of the initiatives in Wave 3 of the Malaysia Education Blueprint (2021-2025), which is to share the best practice in the classroom to cultivate a peer-led culture of professional excellence among teachers as the basis for improving the implementation and achievement of STEM at the national level

    Framework for evaluating and selecting mobile-learning applications using multi criteria decision making techniques

    The use of mobile learning (m-learning) applications in education has increased dramatically in recent years. M-learning applications are installed by users through a variety of mobile device distribution platforms. For a wide audience to accept them, these applications must be stable and of high quality. The decision to purchase m-learning applications needs systematic guidelines so that the appropriate one can be selected to provide a viable and effective solution to educational organizations. Usability in m-learning applications has been studied as a non-functional problem in several previous studies. In reality, Saudi tertiary institutions still lack a systematic, efficient, and well-defined framework for evaluating and selecting m-learning applications due to the lack of reliable m-learning application selection methods. Therefore, this study addresses this gap by proposing a framework to support and improve m-learning applications evaluation and selection process named as Mobile-Learning Application Evaluation and Selection Framework (MLA-ESF). MLA-ESF supports evaluation and selection of m-learning applications and integration of functional and non-functional requirements as well as addresses mismatch problems. In addition, the MLA-ESF is developed to assist and guide developers and educational organizations in selecting the required m-learning application in a more systematic and repeatable manner. Moreover, the MLA-ESF framework provides a guideline for future theoretical research, as well as being a practical and usable tool in real contexts. The study is conducted in four main phases: a survey and interview of decision-makers and users to identify the evaluation criteria, development of the framework based on the Evaluation Theory, development of a new decision-making technique by integrating Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP), Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and GAP Analysis (GA) to handle user requirements mismatches, and validation of the applicability and reliability of MLAESF using experts review, case study and yardstick validation. The study shows that the evaluated aspects of MLA-ESF namely, inputs, actions, outcomes, are feasible and demonstrate their potential and applicability to be applied in the real environment as 75% of the experts found it as useful, 66.7% find it easy to implement, and 75% find the techniques are adequate and sufficient

    Sanitary landfill site selection using GIS-based on a fuzzy multi-criteria evaluation technique: a case study of the City of Kraljevo, Serbia

    Adequate disposal of municipal solid waste (MSW) is one of Serbia’s most complex environmental challenges. The problem is more serious in urban areas, since large amounts of waste are disposed of in locations that do not comply with environmental, technical, and socio-economic standards. Such is the case for the city of Kraljevo, where about 116,000 inhabitants do not have a sanitary landfill facility. This research includes a multi-criteria analysis, conducted with the help of geographic information systems, to find a suitable landfill site location. After data collection, the first step was to process 15 environmental and socio-economic factors utilizing the fuzzy analytic-hierarchy process method. The second step comprised the visual analysis and selection of the ten most suitable locations from the synthetic convenience map. The third step involved the final ranking of sites by means of the fuzzy multi-objective analysis by ratio, plus the full multiplicative form method, based on four additional beneficial and non-beneficial criteria. The results show that sanitary landfill candidate site A4 is the most suitable location for constructing a sanitary landfill site due to its large area (569 ha) and relatively short distance from the urban zone (8 km). This study is the first to integrate geographic information systems and the fuzzy analytic-hierarchy process, multi-objective analysis by ratio, and the full multiplicative form algorithm for sanitary landfill selection. The results of the research can be used as a reference for safe waste disposal in the city of Kraljevo

    Enhancing the cosmetics industry sustainability through a renewed sustainable supplier selection model

    The cosmetics industry requires a long-term sustainable strategy to balance its continuously growing trend worldwide and its resources consumption. In this view, the suppliers' selection process is gaining more attention affecting products' overall sustainability. The objective of this contribution is hence to develop and validate the Cosmetics Sustainable Supplier Selection (C-SSS) model allowing the selection of sustainable suppliers for the cosmetic industry, evaluating them in an objective and balanced manner. The model was built relying on both scientific and grey literature, by incorporating the characteristics of existing SSS models usually used separately. The C-SSS enabled to integrate the EMM approach (to reduce the subjectivity), the ANP approach (to evaluate criteria interconnections), and the TOPSIS and ELECTRE models (to create a hybrid compensation model) to support managers in objectively selecting the most sustainable suppliers. The C-SSS model was applied and validated through an industrial use case in a cosmetics Italian company
