THE IMPACT OF STRATEGIC PURCHASING TO THE SUPPLIER INVOLVEMENT THROUGH COMMUNICATION, COORDINATION AND COLLABORATION IN SMAAL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES
In recent times, the theory of purchasing and supply operations has been widely studied under a variety of labels and for a number of reasons. Realizing competitive advantage from organizational alignment and relation to materials supply is for a form of backward integration. In the process, the manufacturing organization obeys demands from distributors; purchasing is in turn re-structured and managed to achieve improved customer value for manufacturing; thereafter, the process addresses the suppliers to the organization (external integration) typically involving supplier rationalization and the introduction of supplier evaluation systems. Based on previous research, there was finding that strategic purchasing has been impact to communication, coordination and collaboration with supplier which is increase supplier involvement. According to a survey 100 respondent which was conducted by means questionnaires and 94 completed questionnaires were returned. Six responses were considered incomplete and had to be discarded, and this left 86 valid responses. This study result are strategic purchasing has a positive significant effect to communication is 0.314; positive significant effect to coordination is 0.336; and positive significant effect collaboration is 0.365. Communication and Collaboration directly will bring significant contribution to supplier involvement, but coordination is not directly.

Supplier development practice: arising the problems of upstream delivery for a food distribution SME in the UK
The paper aims to emphasize on the impacts of the supplier development on reducing the defects in supplier quality for a food distribution smallâmedium sized enterprise (SME). An empirical study was conducted to measure the performance of the suppliers in three different key performance indicators of the outsourcing and supplierâs performance to arise the existing problems via information exchange, data collection and data analysis. It was found that supplier development through data and information exchange and better communication by any food distribution SME raises the problems more promptly. This can dramatically change the supplierâs behavior to improve the quality of the supplierâs service and products. It is suggested that more research is required to raise other key performance indicators and their related problems and to develop more improvement practices. Six sigma methodologies could be the potential good practices to be focused in future research studies. Supplier performance measurement, which encompasses data exchange and data collection, develops the systematic flow of information, which potentially improves the flow of goods and the whole food supply chain to address the final consumer satisfaction. The research took a novel approach in adopting some transport related key performance indicators of the food supply to the food distribution and retailing sector, which is almost a new approach in food industry
Application of Multi-Objective Optimization Based on Genetic Algorithm for Sustainable Strategic Supplier Selection under Fuzzy Environment
Purpose: The incorporation of environmental objective into the conventional supplier selection
practices is crucial for corporations seeking to promote green supply chain management (GSCM).
Challenges and risks associated with green supplier selection have been broadly recognized by
procurement and supplier management professionals. This paper aims to solve a Tetra âSâ (SSSS)
problem based on a fuzzy multi-objective optimization with genetic algorithm in a holistic supply
chain environment. In this empirical study, a mathematical model with fuzzy coefficients is
considered for sustainable strategic supplier selection (SSSS) problem and a corresponding model
is developed to tackle this problem.
Design/methodology/approach: Sustainable strategic supplier selection (SSSS) decisions are
typically multi-objectives in nature and it is an important part of green production and supply
chain management for many firms. The proposed uncertain model is transferred into
deterministic model by applying the expected value measure (EVM) and genetic algorithm with weighted sum approach for solving the multi-objective problem. This research focus on a multiobjective
optimization model for minimizing lean cost, maximizing sustainable service and
greener product quality level. Finally, a mathematical case of textile sector is presented to
exemplify the effectiveness of the proposed model with a sensitivity analysis.
Findings: This study makes a certain contribution by introducing the Tetra âSâ concept in both
the theoretical and practical research related to multi-objective optimization as well as in the study
of sustainable strategic supplier selection (SSSS) under uncertain environment. Our results
suggest that decision makers tend to select strategic supplier first then enhance the sustainability.
Research limitations/implications: Although the fuzzy expected value model (EVM) with
fuzzy coefficients constructed in present research should be helpful for solving real world
problems. A detailed comparative analysis by using other algorithms is necessary for solving
similar problems of agriculture, pharmaceutical, chemicals and services sectors in future.
Practical implications: It can help the decision makers for ordering to different supplier for
managing supply chain performance in efficient and effective manner. From the procurement and
engineering perspectives, minimizing cost, sustaining the quality level and meeting production
time line is the main consideration for selecting the supplier. Empirically, this can facilitate
engineers to reduce production costs and at the same time improve the product quality.
Originality/value: In this paper, we developed a novel multi-objective programming model
based on genetic algorithm to select sustainable strategic supplier (SSSS) under fuzzy
environment. The algorithm was tested and applied to solve a real case of textile sector in
Pakistan. The experimental results and comparative sensitivity analysis illustrate the effectiveness
of our proposed model.Peer Reviewe
The Determinates Of Selecting Accounting Software: A Proposed Model
Selecting the appropriate accounting software has become an important issue for many organizations. Selecting the wrong accounting software would be a great disaster, it might lead to major financial losses, and possibly even bankruptcy. Certain crucial factors such as usersâ current and future needs, business type, business size, features and attributes of accounting software, information technology infrastructure and environment, and vendor reliability should be taken into consideration before obtaining the software. The objective of this paper is to investigate, analyze and evaluate the main factors an organization should consider in its decision to select the appropriate accounting software. The paper introduces an integrated theoretical framework of the main factors affecting the selection of an appropriate accounting software package for an organization. The paper proceeds to introduce a proposed mathematical model of the determinants of selecting accounting software. The proposed model would help an organization to select the most appropriate accounting software that would satisfy its current and future needs for information and financial and non-financial reports
A Meta Analysis of Critical Success Factors for Computer Technology Projects
Project managers are continually in pursuit of a magic formula that will deliver a successful project. Companies arc interested in formulas for project success because billions of dollars arc wasted each year, in U.S.A. Information Technology projects alone. through poorly managed or failed projects. Failing projects arc not only bad for the individual project team members, but a failed project\u27s impacts emanate outward to cause companies to decline or die. In addition, the targeted customers who receive inferior products, late products, or no products at all (due to project failures) are significantly impacted as well. Because failed computer technology projects arc not isolated to the U.S.A., ultimately the entire world economy would be benefited by the identification of reliable critical success factors.
This study investigates, through a meta analysis of current research and literature, the existence of Critical Success Factors (CSFs) that influence the ability to deliver successful projects. Twenty-nine literature sources, from three different categories of literature (Researchers, Orgarizations, and Experts) were used as input to the analysis. The results obtained from the analysis yielded seventeen CSFs which contribute to the success of a project. Trust and Delegation
Due to imperfect transparency and costly auditing, trust is an essential component of
financial intermediation. In this paper we study a comprehensive sample of due diligence
reports from a major hedge fund due diligence firm. A routine feature of due diligence is
an assessment of integrity. We find that misrepresentation about past legal and regulatory
problems is frequent (21%), as is incorrect or unverifiable representations about other
topics (28%). Misrepresentation, the failure to use a major auditing firm and the use of
internal pricing are significantly related to legal and regulatory problems, indices of
operational risk. Due diligence (DD) reports are costly and are only performed when a
fund is seriously considered for investment. It is important to control for this conditioning
which would otherwise bias cross-sectional analysis. We find that DD reports are
typically issued on high return funds three months after the historical performance has
peaked. DD reports are also issued at the point of highest cash flow into the fund. This
pattern is consistent with return chasing behavior by institutional hedge fund investors
