Der Musicalfilm STORMY WEATHER von 1943 ist die erste Hollywoodproduktion, die ausschließlich schwarze Darsteller beschäftigte, darunter populäre Entertainer der damaligen Zeit wie Lena Horne, Bill „Bojangles“ Robinson, Fats Waller, Katherine Durnham und Cab Calloway. Schon allein dadurch nimmt das Werk eine besondere soziokulturelle Komponente ein; afroamerikanische Darsteller lösten sich allmählich vom Butler/Dienstmädchenklischee- der Ära schwarzer Charakterdarsteller wie Sidney Portier wurde ein Fundament errichtet (auch wenn STORMY WEATHER immer noch viele Stereotype bedient: abgesehen von den Hauptfiguren bezeugen viele der Charaktere ein kindliches, aufschneiderisches, faules, aber durchweg musikalisches Gemüt)

Weathering the storm- Fair weather versus stormy-weather governance in the euro area

Jean Pisani-Ferry and André Sapir believe that the euro has proved attractive as a fair-weather currency for countries and investors well beyond its borders. But it still remains to be seen if its governance is strong enough for it to succeed as a stormy-weather currency. The authors already detect, howevever, that the crisis shows the euro-area governance system lacks some crucial properties: speed of reaction, policy discretion and centralised decision-making.
