    A State-Space Approach to Parametrization of Stabilizing Controllers for Nonlinear Systems

    A state-space approach to Youla-parametrization of stabilizing controllers for linear and nonlinear systems is suggested. The stabilizing controllers (or a class of stabilizing controllers for nonlinear systems) are characterized as (linear/nonlinear) fractional transformations of stable parameters. The main idea behind this approach is to decompose the output feedback stabilization problem into state feedback and state estimation problems. The parametrized output feedback controllers have separation structures. A separation principle follows from the construction. This machinery allows the parametrization of stabilizing controllers to be conducted directly in state space without using coprime-factorization

    Adaptive Backstepping Control for Fractional-Order Nonlinear Systems with External Disturbance and Uncertain Parameters Using Smooth Control

    In this paper, we consider controlling a class of single-input-single-output (SISO) commensurate fractional-order nonlinear systems with parametric uncertainty and external disturbance. Based on backstepping approach, an adaptive controller is proposed with adaptive laws that are used to estimate the unknown system parameters and the bound of unknown disturbance. Instead of using discontinuous functions such as the sign\mathrm{sign} function, an auxiliary function is employed to obtain a smooth control input that is still able to achieve perfect tracking in the presence of bounded disturbances. Indeed, global boundedness of all closed-loop signals and asymptotic perfect tracking of fractional-order system output to a given reference trajectory are proved by using fractional directed Lyapunov method.     Linearized Asymptotic Stability for Fractional Differential Equations

    We prove the theorem of linearized asymptotic stability for fractional differential equations. More precisely, we show that an equilibrium of a nonlinear Caputo fractional differential equation is asymptotically stable if its linearization at the equilibrium is asymptotically stable. As a consequence we extend Lyapunov's first method to fractional differential equations by proving that if the spectrum of the linearization is contained in the sector \{\lambda \in \C : |\arg \lambda| > \frac{\alpha \pi}{2}\} where Îą>0\alpha > 0 denotes the order of the fractional differential equation, then the equilibrium of the nonlinear fractional differential equation is asymptotically stable
