    New results of global Mittag-Leffler synchronization on Caputo fuzzy delayed inertial neural networks

    This article is devoted to discussing the problem of global Mittag-Leffler synchronization (GMLS) for the Caputo-type fractional-order fuzzy delayed inertial neural networks (FOFINNs). First of all, both inertial and fuzzy terms are taken into account in the system. For the sake of reducing the influence caused by the inertia term, the order reduction is achieved by the measure of variable substitution. The introduction of fuzzy terms can evade fuzziness or uncertainty as much as possible. Subsequently, a nonlinear delayed controller is designed to achieve GMLS. Utilizing the inequality techniques, Lyapunov’s direct method for functions and Razumikhin theorem, the criteria for interpreting the GMLS of FOFINNs are established. Particularly, two inferences are presented in two special cases. Additionally, the availability of the acquired results are further confirmed by simulations

    Stability and Boundedness of Impulsive Systems with Time Delay

    The stability and boundedness theories are developed for impulsive differential equations with time delay. Definitions, notations and fundamental theory are presented for delay differential systems with both fixed and state-dependent impulses. It is usually more difficult to investigate the qualitative properties of systems with state-dependent impulses since different solutions have different moments of impulses. In this thesis, the stability problems of nontrivial solutions of systems with state-dependent impulses are ``transferred" to those of the trivial solution of systems with fixed impulses by constructing the so-called ``reduced system". Therefore, it is enough to investigate the stability problems of systems with fixed impulses. The exponential stability problem is then discussed for the system with fixed impulses. A variety of stability criteria are obtained and`numerical examples are worked out to illustrate the results, which shows that impulses do contribute to the stabilization of some delay differential equations. To unify various stability concepts and to offer a general framework for the investigation of stability theory, the concept of stability in terms of two measures is introduced and then several stability criteria are developed for impulsive delay differential equations by both the single and multiple Lyapunov functions method. Furthermore, boundedness and periodicity results are discussed for impulsive differential systems with time delay. The Lyapunov-Razumikhin technique, the Lyapunov functional method, differential inequalities, the method of variation of parameters, and the partitioned matrix method are the main tools to obtain these results. Finally, the application of the stability theory to neural networks is presented. In applications, the impulses are considered as either means of impulsive control or perturbations.Sufficient conditions for stability and stabilization of neural networks are obtained

    Qualitative Theory of Switched Integro-differential Equations with Applications

    Switched systems, which are a type of hybrid system, evolve according to a mixture of continuous/discrete dynamics and experience abrupt changes based on a switching rule. Many real-world phenomena found in branches of applied math, computer science, and engineering are naturally modelled by hybrid systems. The main focus of the present thesis is on hybrid impulsive systems with distributed delays (HISD). That is, studying the qualitative behaviour of switched integro-differential systems with impulses. Important applications of impulsive systems can be found in stabilizing control (e.g. using impulsive control in combination with switching control) and epidemiology (e.g. pulse vaccination control strategies), both of which are studied in this work. In order to ensure the models are well-posed, some fundamental theory is developed for systems with bounded or unbounded time-delays. Results on existence, uniqueness, and continuation of solutions are established. As solutions of HISD are generally not known explicitly, a stability analysis is performed by extending the current theoretical approaches in the switched systems literature (e.g. Halanay-like inequalities and Razumikhin-type conditions). Since a major field of research in hybrid systems theory involves applying hybrid control to problems, contributions are made by extending current results on stabilization by state-dependent switching and impulsive control for unstable systems of integro-differential equations. The analytic results found are applied to epidemic models with time-varying parameters (e.g. due to changes in host behaviour). In particular, we propose a switched model of Chikungunya disease and study its long-term behaviour in order to develop threshold conditions guaranteeing disease eradication. As a sequel to this, we look at the stability of a more general vector-borne disease model under various vaccination schemes. Epidemic models with general nonlinear incidence rates and age-dependent population mixing are also investigated.     Robust Exponential Stabilization of Stochastic Delay Interval Recurrent Neural Networks with Distributed Parameters and Markovian Jumping by Using Periodically Intermittent Control

    We consider a class of stochastic delay recurrent neural networks with distributed parameters and Markovian jumping. It is assumed that the coefficients in these neural networks belong to the interval matrices. Several sufficient conditions ensuring robust exponential stabilization are derived by using periodically intermittent control and Lyapunov functional. The obtained results are very easy to verify and implement, and improve the existing results. Finally, an example with numerical simulations is given to illustrate the presented criteria

    Survey on time-delay approach to networked control

    This paper provides a survey on time-delay approach to networked control systems (NCSs). The survey begins from a brief summary on fundamental network-induced issues in NCSs and the main approaches to the modelling of NCSs. In particular, a comprehensive introduction to time-delay approach to sampled-data and networked control is provided. Then, recent results on time-delay approach to event-triggered control are recalled. The survey highlights time-delay approach developed to modelling, analysis and synthesis of NCSs, under communication constraints, with a particular focus on Round-Robin, Try-once-discard and stochastic protocols. The time-delay approach allows communication delays to be larger than the sampling intervals in the presence of scheduling protocols. Moreover, some results on networked control of distributed parameter systems are surveyed. Finally, conclusions and some future research directions are briefly addressed

    Stability and stabilization of sampled-data control for lure systems

    Este trabalho apresenta um novo método para a análise de estabilidade e estabilização de sistemas do tipo Lure com controle amostrado, sujeitos a amostragem aperiódica e não linearidades que são limitadas em setor e restritas em derivada, em ambos contextos global e regional. Assume-se que os estados da planta estão disponíveis para medição e que as não linearidades são conhecidas, o que leva a uma formulação mais geral do problema. Os estados são adquiridos por um controlador digital que atualiza a entrada de controle em instantes de tempo discretos e aperiódicos, mantendo-a constante entre dois instantes sucessivos de amostragem. A abordagem apresentada neste trabalho é baseada no uso de uma nova classe de looped-functionals e em uma função do tipo Lure generalizada, que leva a condições de estabilidade e estabilização que são escritas na forma de desigualdades matriciais lineares (LMIs) e quasi-LMIs, respectivamente. Com base nestas condições, problemas de otimização são formulados com o objetivo de computar o intervalo máximo entre amostragens ou os limites máximos do setor para os quais a estabilidade assintótica da origem do sistema de dados amostrados em malha fechada é garantida. No caso em que as condições de setor são válidas apenas localmente, a solução desses problemas também fornece uma estimativa da região de atração para as trajetórias em tempo contínuo do sistema em malha fechada. Como as condições de síntese são quasi-LMIs, um algoritmo de otimização por enxame de partículas é proposto para lidar com as não linearidades envolvidas nos problemas de otimização, que surgem do produto de algumas variáveis de decisão. Exemplos numéricos são apresentados ao longo do trabalho para destacar as potencialidades do método.This work presents a new method for stability analysis and stabilization of sampleddata controlled Lure systems, subject to aperiodic sampling and nonlinearities that are sector bounded and slope restricted, in both global and regional contexts. We assume that the states of the plant are available for measurement and that the nonlinearities are known, which leads to a more general formulation of the problem. The states are acquired by a digital controller which updates the control input at aperiodic discrete-time instants, keeping it constant between successive sampling instants. The approach here presented is based on the use of a new class of looped-functionals and a generalized Luretype function, which leads to stability and stabilization conditions that are written in the form of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) and quasi-LMIs, respectively. On this basis, optimization problems are formulated aiming to compute the maximal intersampling interval or the maximal sector bounds for which the asymptotic stability of the origin of the sampled-data closed-loop system is guaranteed. In the case where the sector conditions hold only locally, the solution of these problems also provide an estimate of the region of attraction for the continuous-time trajectories of the closed-loop system. As the synthesis conditions are quasi-LMIs, a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed to deal with the involved nonlinearities in the optimization problems, which arise from the product of some decision variables. Numerical examples are presented throughout the work to highlight the potentialities of the method
