    Get PDF
This paper considers the H? filtering problem for stochastic singular fuzzy systems with timevarying delay. We assume that the state and measurement are corrupted by stochastic uncertain exogenous disturbance and that the system dynamic is modeled by Ito-type stochastic differential equations. Based on an auxiliary vector and an integral inequality, a set of delay-dependent sufficient conditions is established, which ensures that the filtering error system is e?t - weighted integral input-to-state stable in mean (iISSiM). A fuzzy filter is designed such that the filtering error system is impulse-free, e?t -weighted iISSiM and the H? attenuation level from disturbance to estimation error is belowa prescribed scalar.Aset of sufficient conditions for the solvability of the H? filtering problem is obtained in terms of a new type of Lyapunov function and a set of linear matrix inequalities. Simulation examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed filtering approach developed in this paper

Robust Fault Estimation for a Class of T-S Fuzzy Singular Systems with Time-Varying Delay via Improved Delay Partitioning Approach

    Get PDF
The problem of delay-dependent robust fault estimation for a class of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy singular systems is investigated. By decomposing the delay interval into two unequal subintervals and with a new and tighter integral inequality transformation, an improved delay-dependent stability criterion is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to guarantee that the fuzzy singular system with time-varying delay is regular, impulse-free, and stable firstly. Then, based on this criterion, by considering the system fault as an auxiliary disturbance vector and constructing an appropriate fuzzy augmented system, a fault estimation observer is designed to ensure that the error dynamic system is regular, impulse-free, and robustly stable with a prescribed H∞ performance satisfied for all actuator and sensor faults simultaneously, and the obtained fault estimates can practically better depict the size and shape of the faults. Finally, numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach

The official published version can be obtained from the link below. In this paper, the passivity and passification problems are investigated for a class of uncertain stochastic fuzzy systems with time-varying delays. The fuzzy system is based on the Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) model that is often used to represent the complex nonlinear systems in terms of fuzzy sets and fuzzy reasoning. To reflect more realistic dynamical behaviors of the system, both the parameter uncertainties and the stochastic disturbances are considered, where the parameter uncertainties enter into all the system matrices and the stochastic disturbances are given in the form of a Brownian motion. We first propose the definition of robust passivity in the sense of expectation. Then, by utilizing the Lyapunov functional method, the Itô differential rule and the matrix analysis techniques, we establish several sufficient criteria such that, for all admissible parameter uncertainties and stochastic disturbances, the closed-loop stochastic fuzzy time-delay system is robustly passive in the sense of expectation. The derived criteria, which are either delay-independent or delay-dependent, are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) that can be easily checked by using the standard numerical software. Illustrative examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and usefulness of the proposed results. This work was supported by the Teaching and Research Fund for Excellent Young Teachers at Southeast University of China, the Specialized Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education for New Teachers 200802861044, the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 60804028 and the Royal Society of the United Kingdom

A review of convex approaches for control, observation and safety of linear parameter varying and Takagi-Sugeno systems

    Get PDF
This paper provides a review about the concept of convex systems based on Takagi-Sugeno, linear parameter varying (LPV) and quasi-LPV modeling. These paradigms are capable of hiding the nonlinearities by means of an equivalent description which uses a set of linear models interpolated by appropriately defined weighing functions. Convex systems have become very popular since they allow applying extended linear techniques based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to complex nonlinear systems. This survey aims at providing the reader with a significant overview of the existing LMI-based techniques for convex systems in the fields of control, observation and safety. Firstly, a detailed review of stability, feedback, tracking and model predictive control (MPC) convex controllers is considered. Secondly, the problem of state estimation is addressed through the design of proportional, proportional-integral, unknown input and descriptor observers. Finally, safety of convex systems is discussed by describing popular techniques for fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control (FTC).Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

This paper is concerned with the passivity and passification problems of the stochastic discrete-time T-S fuzzy systems with delay. We first propose the definition of passivity in the sense of expectation. Then, by utilizing the Lyapunov functional method, the stochastic analysis combined with the matrix inequality techniques, a sufficient condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities is presented, ensuring the passivity performance of the T-S fuzzy models. Finally, based on this criterion, state feedback controller is designed, and several criteria are obtained to make the closed-loop system passive in the sense of expectation. The results acquired in this paper are delay dependent in the sense that they depend on not only the lower bound but also the upper bound of the time-varying delay. Numerical examples are also provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of our criteria. This work was supported in part by the Royal Society Sino–British Fellowship Trust Award of the U.K., by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 60804028, by the Specialized Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education for New Teachers in China under Grant 200802861044, and by the Teaching and Research Fund for Excellent Young Teachers at Southeast University of China

Direct Current (dc) microgrids due to their efficiency and energy savings are being deployed to provide power for servers in Internet of Things (IoT) data centers, in more electric aircrafts (MEA), electric ships and in rail systems round the word. In this paper, Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy inference method is used to establish a Lyapunov stability candidate for a 380 V ring bus dc microgrid modeled with Matlab. To determine suitability of using powerline communication (PLC) to monitor stability condition on the 380 V dc microgrid, impact of distortion caused by microgrid constant power loads (CPL) on signals transmitted over the dc microgrid PLC channel is examined. It is shown in this paper that while Lyapunov asymptotic stability is maintained on the dc bus, increasing CPL on the microgrid causes the dc microgrid PLC channel to experience growing signal distortion

Global stability of Clifford-valued Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy neural networks with time-varying delays and impulses

    Get PDF
summary:In this study, we consider the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model to examine the global asymptotic stability of Clifford-valued neural networks with time-varying delays and impulses. In order to achieve the global asymptotic stability criteria, we design a general network model that includes quaternion-, complex-, and real-valued networks as special cases. First, we decompose the nn-dimensional Clifford-valued neural network into 2mn2^mn-dimensional real-valued counterparts in order to solve the noncommutativity of Clifford numbers multiplication. Then, we prove the new global asymptotic stability criteria by constructing an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals (LKFs) and employing Jensen's integral inequality together with the reciprocal convex combination method. All the results are proven using linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the achieved results

This is the Post-Print version of the Article. The official published version can be accessed from the link below - Copyright @ 2012 IEEEThis paper is concerned with the network-based robust fault detection problem for a class of uncertain discrete-time Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy systems with stochastic mixed time delays and successive packet dropouts. The mixed time delays comprise both the multiple discrete time delays and the infinite distributed delays. A sequence of stochastic variables is introduced to govern the random occurrences of the discrete time delays, distributed time delays, and successive packet dropouts, where all the stochastic variables are mutually independent but obey the Bernoulli distribution. The main purpose of this paper is to design a fuzzy fault detection filter such that the overall fault detection dynamics is exponentially stable in the mean square and, at the same time, the error between the residual signal and the fault signal is made as small as possible. Sufficient conditions are first established via intensive stochastic analysis for the existence of the desired fuzzy fault detection filters, and then, the corresponding solvability conditions for the desired filter gains are established. In addition, the optimal performance index for the addressed robust fuzzy fault detection problem is obtained by solving an auxiliary convex optimization problem. An illustrative example is provided to show the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed design method. This work was supported in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 61028008, 60825303, 61004067, National 973 Project under Grant 2009CB320600, the Key Laboratory of Integrated Automation for the Process Industry (Northeastern University), Ministry of Education, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the U.K. under Grant GR/S27658/01, the Royal Society of the U.K., the University of Hong Kong under Grant HKU/CRCG/200907176129 and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany
