Stability Analysis of Integral Delay Systems with Multiple Delays
This note is concerned with stability analysis of integral delay systems with
multiple delays. To study this problem, the well-known Jensen inequality is
generalized to the case of multiple terms by introducing an individual slack
weighting matrix for each term, which can be optimized to reduce the
conservatism. With the help of the multiple Jensen inequalities and by
developing a novel linearizing technique, two novel Lyapunov functional based
approaches are established to obtain sufficient stability conditions expressed
by linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). It is shown that these new conditions are
always less conservative than the existing ones. Moreover, by the positive
operator theory, a single LMI based condition and a spectral radius based
condition are obtained based on an existing sufficient stability condition
expressed by coupled LMIs. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of

On Lyapunov-Krasovskii Functionals for Switched Nonlinear Systems with Delay
We present a set of results concerning the existence of Lyapunov-Krasovskii
functionals for classes of nonlinear switched systems with time-delay. In
particular, we first present a result for positive systems that relaxes
conditions recently described in \cite{SunWang} for the existence of L-K
functionals. We also provide related conditions for positive coupled
differential-difference positive systems and for systems of neutral type that
are not necessarily positive. Finally, corresponding results for discrete-time

Positive trigonometric polynomials for strong stability of difference equations
We follow a polynomial approach to analyse strong stability of linear
difference equations with rationally independent delays. Upon application of
the Hermite stability criterion on the discrete-time homogeneous characteristic
polynomial, assessing strong stability amounts to deciding positive
definiteness of a multivariate trigonometric polynomial matrix. This latter
problem is addressed with a converging hierarchy of linear matrix inequalities
(LMIs). Numerical experiments indicate that certificates of strong stability
can be obtained at a reasonable computational cost for state dimension and
number of delays not exceeding 4 or 5
Distributed state estimation in sensor networks with randomly occurring nonlinearities subject to time delays

The target plant is described by a set of differential equations disturbed by a Brownian motion and randomly occurring nonlinearities (RONs) subject to time delays. The RONs are investigated here to reflect network-induced randomly occurring regulation of the delayed states on the current ones. Through available measurement output transmitted from the sensors, a distributed state estimator is designed to estimate the states of the target system, where each sensor can communicate with the neighboring sensors according to the given topology by means of a directed graph. The state estimation is carried out in a distributed way and is therefore applicable to online application. By resorting to the Lyapunov functional combined with stochastic analysis techniques, several delay-dependent criteria are established that not only ensure the estimation error to be globally asymptotically stable in the mean square, but also guarantee the existence of the desired estimator gains that can then be explicitly expressed when certain matrix inequalities are solved. On delayed genetic regulatory networks with polytopic uncertainties: Robust stability analysis

By choosing to view this document, you agree to all provisions of the copyright laws protecting it.In this paper, we investigate the robust asymptotic stability problem of genetic regulatory networks with time-varying delays and polytopic parameter uncertainties. Both cases of differentiable and nondifferentiable time-delays are considered, and the convex polytopic description is utilized to characterize the genetic network model uncertainties. By using a Lyapunov functional approach and linear matrix inequality (LMI) techniques, the stability criteria for the uncertain delayed genetic networks are established in the form of LMIs, which can be readily verified by using standard numerical software. An important feature of the results reported here is that all the stability conditions are dependent on the upper and lower bounds of the delays, which is made possible by using up-to-date techniques for achieving delay dependence. Another feature of the results lies in that a novel Lyapunov functional dependent on the uncertain parameters is utilized, which renders the results to be potentially less conservative than those obtained via a fixed Lyapunov functional for the entire uncertainty domain. A genetic network example is employed to illustrate the applicability and usefulness of the developed theoretical results
Discrete time piecewise affine models of genetic regulatory networks
We introduce simple models of genetic regulatory networks and we proceed to
the mathematical analysis of their dynamics. The models are discrete time
dynamical systems generated by piecewise affine contracting mappings whose
variables represent gene expression levels. When compared to other models of
regulatory networks, these models have an additional parameter which is
identified as quantifying interaction delays. In spite of their simplicity,
their dynamics presents a rich variety of behaviours. This phenomenology is not
limited to piecewise affine model but extends to smooth nonlinear discrete time
models of regulatory networks. In a first step, our analysis concerns general
properties of networks on arbitrary graphs (characterisation of the attractor,
symbolic dynamics, Lyapunov stability, structural stability, symmetries, etc).
In a second step, focus is made on simple circuits for which the attractor and
its changes with parameters are described. In the negative circuit of 2 genes,
a thorough study is presented which concern stable (quasi-)periodic
oscillations governed by rotations on the unit circle -- with a rotation number
depending continuously and monotonically on threshold parameters. These regular
oscillations exist in negative circuits with arbitrary number of genes where
they are most likely to be observed in genetic systems with non-negligible

On almost sure stability of hybrid stochastic systems with mode-dependent interval delays
This note develops a criterion for almost sure stability of hybrid stochastic systems with mode-dependent interval time delays, which improves an existing result by exploiting the relation between the bounds of the time delays and the generator of the continuous-time Markov chain. The improved result shows that the presence of Markovian switching is quite involved in the stability analysis of delay systems. Numerical examples are given to verify the effectiveness
