Recurrent Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Wavelet Neural Network with Stable Learning Algorithm: Application to Model-Based Predictive Control
Fuzzy neural networks, with suitable learning strategy, have been demonstrated as an effective tool for online data modeling. However, it is a challenging task to construct a model to ensure its quality and stability for non-stationary dynamic systems with some uncertainties. To solve this problem, this paper presents a novel identification model based on recurrent interval type-2 fuzzy wavelet neural network (RIT2FWNN) with new learning algorithm. The model benefits from both advantages of recurrent and wavelet neural networks such as use of temporal data and fast convergence properties. The proposed antecedent and consequent parameters update rules are derived using sliding-mode-control-theory. To evaluate the proposed fuzzy model, it is utilized to design a nonlinear model-based predictive controller and is applied for the synchronization of fractional-order time-delay chaotic systems. Using Lyapunov stability analysis, it is shown that all update rules of the parameters are uniformly ultimately bounded. The adaptation laws obtained in this method are very simple and have closed forms. Some stability conditions are derived to prove learning dynamics and asymptotic stability of the network by using an appropriate Lyapunov function. The efficacy and performance of the proposed method is verified by simulation examples

Among different kinds of models for fuzzy systems, the so-called Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model has been quite popular due to its convenient and simple dynamic structure as well as its capability of approximating any smooth nonlinear function to any specified accuracy within any compact set. In terms of such a model, the performance analysis and the design of controllers and filters play important roles in the research of fuzzy systems. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the T-S fuzzy control and filtering problems with various network-induced phenomena. The network-induced phenomena under consideration mainly include communication delays, packet dropouts, signal quantization, and randomly occurring uncertainties (ROUs). With such network-induced phenomena, the developments on T-S fuzzy control and filtering issues are reviewed in detail. In addition, some latest results on this topic are highlighted. In the end, conclusions are drawn and some possible future research directions are pointed out. This work was supported in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grants 61134009, 61329301, 11301118 and 61174136, the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province of China under Grant BK20130017, the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities of China under Grant CUSF-DH-D-2013061, the Royal Society of the U.K., and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany

A review on analysis and synthesis of nonlinear stochastic systems with randomly occurring incomplete information

This is an open access article distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. In the context of systems and control, incomplete information refers to a dynamical system in which knowledge about the system states is limited due to the difficulties in modeling complexity in a quantitative way. The well-known types of incomplete information include parameter uncertainties and norm-bounded nonlinearities. Recently, in response to the development of network technologies, the phenomenon of randomly occurring incomplete information has become more and more prevalent. Such a phenomenon typically appears in a networked environment. Examples include, but are not limited to, randomly occurring uncertainties, randomly occurring nonlinearities, randomly occurring saturation, randomly missing measurements and randomly occurring quantization. Randomly occurring incomplete information, if not properly handled, would seriously deteriorate the performance of a control system. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the analysis and synthesis problems for nonlinear stochastic systems with randomly occurring incomplete information. The developments of the filtering, control and fault detection problems are systematically reviewed. Latest results on analysis and synthesis of nonlinear stochastic systems are discussed in great detail. In addition, various distributed filtering technologies over sensor networks are highlighted. Finally, some concluding remarks are given and some possible future research directions are pointed out. © 2012 Hongli Dong et al.This work was supported in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grants 61273156, 61134009, 61273201, 61021002, and 61004067, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the UK under Grant GR/S27658/01, the Royal Society of the UK, the National Science Foundation of the USA under Grant No. HRD-1137732, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of German
A genetic algorithm for the design of a fuzzy controller for active queue management
Active queue management (AQM) policies are those
policies of router queue management that allow for the detection of network congestion, the notification of such occurrences to the
hosts on the network borders, and the adoption of a suitable control
policy. This paper proposes the adoption of a fuzzy proportional
integral (FPI) controller as an active queue manager for Internet
routers. The analytical design of the proposed FPI controller is
carried out in analogy with a proportional integral (PI) controller,
which recently has been proposed for AQM. A genetic algorithm is
proposed for tuning of the FPI controller parameters with respect
to optimal disturbance rejection. In the paper the FPI controller
design metodology is described and the results of the comparison
with random early detection (RED), tail drop, and PI controller
are presented

This is an open access article distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. This paper presents an overview of the recent developments in the gain-scheduled control and filtering problems for the parameter-varying systems. First of all, we recall several important algorithms suitable for gain-scheduling method including gain-scheduled proportional-integral derivative (PID) control, H 2, H ∞ and mixed H 2 / H ∞ gain-scheduling methods as well as fuzzy gain-scheduling techniques. Secondly, various important parameter-varying system models are reviewed, for which gain-scheduled control and filtering issues are usually dealt with. In particular, in view of the randomly occurring phenomena with time-varying probability distributions, some results of our recent work based on the probability-dependent gain-scheduling methods are reviewed. Furthermore, some latest progress in this area is discussed. Observer-based H∞ control for systems with repeated scalar nonlinearities and multiple packet losses
This paper is concerned with the H∞ control problem for a class of systems with repeated scalar nonlinearities and multiple missing measurements. The nonlinear system is described by a discrete-time state equation involving a repeated scalar nonlinearity, which typically appears in recurrent neural networks. The measurement missing phenomenon is assumed to occur, simultaneously, in the communication channels from the sensor to the controller and from the controller to the actuator, where the missing probability for each sensor/actuator is governed by an individual random variable satisfying a certain probabilistic distribution in the interval [0 1]. Attention is focused on the analysis and design of an observer-based feedback controller such that the closed-loop control system is stochastically stable and preserves a guaranteed H∞ performance. Sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of admissible controllers. It is shown that the controller design problem under consideration is solvable if certain linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are feasible. Three examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed theoretical result
A fuzzy approach for the network congestion problem
In the recent years, the unpredictable growth of the Internet has moreover pointed out the congestion problem, one of the problems that historicallyha ve affected the network. This paper deals with the design and the evaluation of a congestion control algorithm which adopts
a FuzzyCon troller. The analogyb etween Proportional Integral (PI) regulators and Fuzzycon trollers is discussed and a method to determine the scaling factors of the Fuzzycon troller is presented. It is shown that
the Fuzzycon troller outperforms the PI under traffic conditions which are different from those related to the operating point considered in the design
