Spatio-temporal Texture Modelling for Real-time Crowd Anomaly Detection
With the rapidly increasing demands from surveillance and security industries, crowd behaviour analysis has become one of the hotly pursued video event detection frontiers within the computer vision arena in recent years. This research has investigated innovative crowd behaviour detection approaches based on statistical crowd features extracted from video footages. In this paper, a new crowd video anomaly detection algorithm has been developed based on analysing the extracted spatio-temporal textures. The algorithm has been designed for real-time applications by deploying low-level statistical features and alleviating complicated machine learning and recognition processes. In the experiments, the system has been proven a valid solution for detecting anomaly behaviours without strong assumptions on the nature of crowds, for example, subjects and density. The developed prototype shows improved adaptability and efficiency against chosen benchmark systems
Crowd anomaly detection for automated video surveillance
Video-based crowd behaviour detection aims at tackling challenging problems such as automating and identifying changing crowd behaviours under complex real life situations. In this paper, real-time crowd anomaly detection algorithms have been investigated. Based on the spatio-temporal video volume concept, an innovative spatio-temporal texture model has been proposed in this research for its rich crowd pattern characteristics. Through extracting and integrating those crowd textures from surveillance recordings, a redundancy wavelet transformation-based feature space can be deployed for behavioural template matching. Experiment shows that the abnormality appearing in crowd scenes can be identified in a real-time fashion by the devised method. This new approach is envisaged to facilitate a wide spectrum of crowd analysis applications through automating current Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV)-based surveillance systems
Wavelet-based Texture Model for Crowd Dynamic Analysis
Crowd event detection techniques aim at solving
real-world surveillance problems, such as detecting crowd
anomaly and tracking specific person in a highly dynamic
crowd scene. In this paper, we proposed an innovate
texture-based analysis method to model crowd dynamics
and us it to distinguish the crowd behaviours. To describe
complicated crowd scenes, homogeneous random features
have been deployed in the research for behavioural template
matching. Experiment results have shown that the anomaly
appearing in crowd scenes can be effectively and efficiently
identified by using the devised methods
Effective crowd anomaly detection through spatio-temporal texture analysis
Abnormal crowd behaviors in high density situations can pose great danger to public safety. Despite the extensive installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, it is still difficult to achieve real-time alerts and automated responses from current systems. Two major breakthroughs have been reported in this research. Firstly, a spatial-temporal texture extraction algorithm is developed. This algorithm is able to effectively extract video textures with abundant crowd motion details. It is through adopting Gabor-filtered textures with the highest information entropy values. Secondly, a novel scheme for defining crowd motion patterns (signatures) is devised to identify abnormal behaviors in the crowd by employing an enhanced gray level co-occurrence matrix model. In the experiments, various classic classifiers are utilized to benchmark the performance of the proposed method. The results obtained exhibit detection and accuracy rates which are, overall, superior to other techniques
Crowd Recognition System Based on Optical Flow Along with SVM classifier
The manuscript discusses about abnormalities in a crowded scenario. To prevent the mishap at a public place, there is no much mechanism which could prevent or alert the concerned authority about suspects in a crowd. Usually in a crowded scene, there are chances of some mishap like a terrorist attack or a crime. Our target is finding techniques to identify such activities and to possibly prevent them. If the crowd members exhibit abnormal behavior, we could identify and say that this particular person is a suspect and then the concerned authority would look into the matter. There are various methods to identify the abnormal behavior. The proposed approach is based on optical flow model. It has an ability to detect the sudden changes in motion of an individual among the crowd. First, the main region of motion is extracted by the help of motion heat map. Harris corner detector is used for extracting point of interest of extracted motion area. Based on the point of interest an optical flow is estimated here. After analyzing this optical flow model, a threshold value is fixed. Basically optical flow is an energy level of individual frame. The threshold value is forwarded to SVM classifier, which produces a better result with 99.71% accuracy. This approach is very useful in real time video surveillance system where a machine can monitor unwanted crowd activity.
