Blockchain-enabled Wireless IoT Networks with Multiple Communication Connections
Blockchain-enabled wireless network has been recognized as an emerging network architecture to be widely employed into the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems for establishing trust and consensus mechanisms without the involvement of a third party. However, the uncertainty and vulnerability of wireless channels among the IoT nodes may pose a serious challenge to facilitate the deployment of blockchain in wireless networks. In this paper, we first present a generic system model for blockchain enabled wireless networks with multiple communication connections, where the number of communication connections between a client IoT node and the blockchain full nodes can be any arbitrary positive integer to satisfy different security requirements. Based on the proposed spatial-temporal network model, we theoretically calculate the transmission successful probability and the required communication throughput to support a wireless blockchain network. Finally, simulation results validate the accuracy of our theoretical analysis
High Quality of Service on Video Streaming in P2P Networks using FST-MDC
Video streaming applications have newly attracted a large number of
participants in a distribution network. Traditional client-server based video
streaming solutions sustain precious bandwidth provision rate on the server.
Recently, several P2P streaming systems have been organized to provide
on-demand and live video streaming services on the wireless network at reduced
server cost. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) computing is a new pattern to construct
disseminated network applications. Typical error control techniques are not
very well matched and on the other hand error prone channels has increased
greatly for video transmission e.g., over wireless networks and IP. These two
facts united together provided the essential motivation for the development of
a new set of techniques (error concealment) capable of dealing with
transmission errors in video systems. In this paper, we propose an flexible
multiple description coding method named as Flexible Spatial-Temporal (FST)
which improves error resilience in the sense of frame loss possibilities over
independent paths. It introduces combination of both spatial and temporal
concealment technique at the receiver and to conceal the lost frames more
effectively. Experimental results show that, proposed approach attains
reasonable quality of video performance over P2P wireless network.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, journa
Predicting Performance of Channel Assignments in Wireless Mesh Networks through Statistical Interference Estimation
Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) deployments are poised to reduce the reliance on
wired infrastructure especially with the advent of the multi-radio
multi-channel (MRMC) WMN architecture. But the benefits that MRMC WMNs offer
viz., augmented network capacity, uninterrupted connectivity and reduced
latency, are depreciated by the detrimental effect of prevalent interference.
Interference mitigation is thus a prime objective in WMN deployments. It is
often accomplished through prudent channel allocation (CA) schemes which
minimize the adverse impact of interference and enhance the network
performance. However, a multitude of CA schemes have been proposed in research
literature and absence of a CA performance prediction metric, which could aid
in the selection of an efficient CA scheme for a given WMN, is often felt. In
this work, we offer a fresh characterization of the interference endemic in
wireless networks. We then propose a reliable CA performance prediction metric,
which employs a statistical interference estimation approach. We carry out a
rigorous quantitative assessment of the proposed metric by validating its CA
performance predictions with experimental results, recorded from extensive
simulations run on an ns-3 802.11g environment
