Analytic solution of nonlinear fractional Burgers-type equation by invariant subspace method
In this paper we study the analytic solutions of Burgers-type nonlinear
fractional equations by means of the Invariant Subspace Method. We first study
a class of nonlinear equations directly related to the time-fractional Burgers
equation. Some generalizations linked to the forced time-fractional Burgers
equations and variable-coefficient diffusion are also considered. Finally we
study a Burgers-type equation involving both space and time-fractional
derivatives
A rarefaction-tracking method for hyperbolic conservation laws
We present a numerical method for scalar conservation laws in one space
dimension. The solution is approximated by local similarity solutions. While
many commonly used approaches are based on shocks, the presented method uses
rarefaction and compression waves. The solution is represented by particles
that carry function values and move according to the method of characteristics.
Between two neighboring particles, an interpolation is defined by an analytical
similarity solution of the conservation law. An interaction of particles
represents a collision of characteristics. The resulting shock is resolved by
merging particles so that the total area under the function is conserved. The
method is variation diminishing, nevertheless, it has no numerical dissipation
away from shocks. Although shocks are not explicitly tracked, they can be
located accurately. We present numerical examples, and outline specific
applications and extensions of the approach.Comment: 21 pages, 7 figures. Similarity 2008 conference proceeding
Conservation laws, classical symmetries and exact solutions of the generalized KdV-Burgers-Kuramoto equation
For a generalized KdV-Burgers-Kuramoto equation we have studied conservation laws by using the multiplier method, and investigated its first-level and second level potential systems. Furthermore, the Lie point symmetries of the equation and the Lie point symmetries associated with the conserved vectors are determined. We obtain travellingwave reductions depending on the form of an arbitrary
function. We present some explicit solutions: soliton solutions, kinks and antikinks
The global picture of self-similar and not self-similar decay in Burgers Turbulence
This paper continue earlier investigations on the decay of Burgers turbulence
in one dimension from Gaussian random initial conditions of the power-law
spectral type . Depending on the power , different
characteristic regions are distinguished. The main focus of this paper is to
delineate the regions in wave-number and time in which self-similarity
can (and cannot) be observed, taking into account small- and large-
cutoffs. The evolution of the spectrum can be inferred using physical arguments
describing the competition between the initial spectrum and the new frequencies
generated by the dynamics. For large wavenumbers, we always have
region, associated to the shocks. When is less than one, the large-scale
part of the spectrum is preserved in time and the global evolution is
self-similar, so that scaling arguments perfectly predict the behavior in time
of the energy and of the integral scale. If is larger than two, the
spectrum tends for long times to a universal scaling form independent of the
initial conditions, with universal behavior at small wavenumbers. In the
interval the leading behaviour is self-similar, independent of and
with universal behavior at small wavenumber. When , the spectrum
has three scaling regions : first, a region at very small \ms1 with
a time-independent constant, second, a region at intermediate
wavenumbers, finally, the usual region. In the remaining interval,
the small- cutoff dominates, and also plays no role. We find also
(numerically) the subleading term in the evolution of the spectrum
in the interval . High-resolution numerical simulations have been
performed confirming both scaling predictions and analytical asymptotic theory.Comment: 14 pages, 19 figure
Symmetry analysis of time-fractional potential Burgers\u27 equation
Lie point symmetries of time-fractional potential Burgers\u27 equation are presented.
Using these symmetries fractional potential Burgers\u27 equation has been transformed into an ordinary differential equation of fractional order corresponding to the Erdélyi-Kober fractional derivative. Further, an analytic solution is furnished by means of the invariant
subspace method
