The influence of organizational culture on the outcome of an IS implementation
A number of information system (IS) studies have adopted organizational culture (OC) theory to investigate IS implementations. The studies highlight that members will reach consensus or agreement in the use of an IS but also experience inevitable tensions and ambiguities in the use of the IS. However, literature related to IS implementation/OC has rarely examined the influence that the saliency of specific cultural practices may have on the success or failure of IS implementations. Using a case study approach, we adopted the âsoft positivismâ research philosophy to collect data, underpinned by Martinâs (1992) integration and differentiation perspectives of OC to study organizational implementation of an IS. These perspectives served as interpretive lenses through which to explain how membersâ salient behaviors towards an IS evolved during the implementation process. A Network Perspective on Inter-Organizational Transfer of R&D Capabilities: A Study of International Joint Ventures in Chinese Automobile Industry
Multinational enterprises' transfer of R&D capabilities to their international joint ventures in the less developed countries has been an emerging phenomenon. The purpose of this study is to understand the transfer of R&D capabilities between organizations embedded in drastically different organizational contexts using a network perspective. We identified different networks involved in the R&D capability transfer process from the perspectives of source organization, recipient organization and the interface between them, and analyzed the impact of different attributes of these networks on the effectiveness of R&D capability transfer, based on the notion that R&D capabilities are largely collective knowledge.http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/39746/3/wp362.pd
Organizational Decision to Adopt Chatbot Technology: The Role of Organizing Vision and Technological Frame
This research project aims to explore the socio-cognitive determinants of the organizational adoption of artificial intelligence based chatbot by insurance companies. Technological frame and reception of organizing vision are used as conceptual foundations. A mixed method approach consisting of qualitative interviews and a quantitative questionnaire will serve as input to a Fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis. Main expected contribution is an understanding of the combined effect of technological frame and reception of organizing vision on organizational adoption of information technology
On the Potential of Business Process Management for Digital Entrepreneurship: Findings from a Literature Review
Digital ventures face significant organizational challenges when scaling, including increasing sales and employee numbers, that withdraw resources from working on their market offerings. While digital entrepreneurship literature stresses the importance of creating processes that balance structure and flexibility to deal with these challenges, business process management (BPM) literature focuses on improving pre-designed business processes. We reconcile these perspectives in a structured literature review to explore how BPM can support digital venturing. We identify synergies and tensions between BPM and digital entrepreneurship and propose three avenues for future research. These include exploring ambidextrous BPM in digital ventures, treating digital venturing as a business process, and developing capabilities for balancing flexibility and structure. We contribute to information systems research by critically reviewing the literature on BPM and digital entrepreneurship and providing potential areas for future investigation
CONSUMERIZATION OF IT â WHERE IS THE THEORY?
Consumerization of IT (CoIT) is a key trend affecting society at large, including organizations of all kinds. A consensus about the defining aspects of CoIT has not yet been reached. Some refer to CoIT as employees bringing their own devices and technologies to work, while others highlight different aspects. While the debate about the nature and consequences of CoIT is still ongoing, many definitions have already been proposed. In this paper, we review these definitions and what is known about CoIT thus far. To guide future empirical research in this emerging area, we also review several established theories that have not yet been applied to CoIT but in our opinion have the potential to shed a deeper understanding on CoIT and its consequences. We discuss which elements of the reviewed theories are particularly relevant for understanding CoIT and thereby provide targeted guidance for future empirical research employing these theories. Overall, our paper may provide a useful starting point for addressing the lack of theorization in the emerging CoIT literature stream and stimulate discussion about theorizing CoIT

Interorganizational Networks : the Issue of Global Sovereignty
One of the most striking phenomena of the past decade has been the internationalisation of service firms (Tersen and Bricout, 1996). Previously considered âun-exportableâ (Segal-Horn, 1993), they have proven day after day that they have the necessary characteristics to undertake an international development, and even a globalization of their offering systems (Vandermerwe, 1989 ; Campbell and Verbeke, 1994 ; Gadrey, 1994 ;). Retail banking and financial services are remarkable illustrations of this phenomenon (Michalet, 1985 ; Andreff, 1995). And bank cards in the first place. However, management scholars have been slow in reacting to this challenge. Focused on industry (and surprisingly enough on the automotive industry), the scholars have rather neglected the emerging field of international service firms. This Research gap has motivated our project on the international deployment of services. The field study we have selected is relative to the bank card organizations. This industry illustrates the functioning of service firms as political institutions. A striking example relates to the emergence and development of international standards bodies, specifically in the area of Internet payments. We are faced here with the construction of a transnational regulation. This paper brings twofold a contribution. On one hand, it enriches the interpretation of a very important, peculiar and potentially generic research object, through the lenses of the translation theory. On the other hand, it has key managerial implications regarding « political » strategies with regard to positioning as a regulatory institution. Discussion follows on the consequences of these agencies' activities for business enterprises.
15P. Applying Organisational Learning to User Requirements Elicitation
The aim of the paper is to determine the best method to capture the functional and non-functional requirements of software and to ensure that the acquired software is deemed suitable by the users. The paper compares the organisational learning approach to the traditional method of software requirements elicitation and adoption. We analysed the two approaches in a case study of a Bahamian horizontal construction company. The focus of the study is on how the stakeholders capture tacit knowledge during the processes of both approaches. The findings show that the organisational learning model was more effective in eliciting software requirements, especially in helping incorporate the tacit knowledge of requirements in a broad range of company stakeholders. The study also demonstrates the significance of tacit knowledge among company stakeholders, in particular during the construction cost estimation phase. In order to produce a more accurate estimate and ensure the user acceptance for the software throughout the company, the cost estimation phase must be incorporated with the requirements and the users must be involved throughout the software requirements elicitation and adoption process
