    Al'brekht's Method in Infinite Dimensions

    Get PDF
In 1961 E. G. Albrekht presented a method for the optimal stabilization of smooth, nonlinear, finite dimensional, continuous time control systems. This method has been extended to similar systems in discrete time and to some stochastic systems in continuous and discrete time. In this paper we extend Albrekht's method to the optimal stabilization of some smooth, nonlinear, infinite dimensional, continuous time control systems whose nonlinearities are described by Fredholm integral operators

Event-based Stabilization of Nonlinear Time-Delay Systems

International audienceIn this paper, a universal formula is proposed for event-based stabilization of nonlinear time-delay systems affine in the control. The feedback is derived from the original one proposed by E. Sontag (1989) and previously extended to event-based control of nonlinear undelayed systems. Under the assumption of the existence of a control Lyapunov-Krasovsky functional, it enables smooth (except at the origin) asymptotic stabilization while ensuring that the sampling intervals do not contract to zero. Global asymptotic stability is obtain under the small control property assumption. Moreover, the control can be proved to be smooth anywhere under certain conditions. Some simulation results highlight the ability of the proposals

General Formula for Event-Based Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems with Delays in the State

International audienceIn this chapter, a universal formula is proposed for event-based stabilization of nonlinear systems affine in the control and with delays in the state. The feedback is derived from the seminal law proposed by E. Sontag (1989) and then extended to event-based control of affine nonlinear undelayed systems. Under the assumption of the existence of a control Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (CLKF), the proposal enables smooth (except at the origin) asymptotic stabilization while ensuring that the sampling intervals do not contract to zero. Global asymptotic stability is obtained under the small control property assumption. Moreover, the control can be proved to be smooth anywhere under certain conditions. Simulation results highlight the ability of the proposed formula. The particular linear case is also discussed

An SOS-Based Control Lyapunov Function Design for Polynomial Fuzzy Control of Nonlinear Systems

This paper deals with a sum-of-squares (SOS)-based control Lyapunov function (CLF) design for polynomial fuzzy control of nonlinear systems. The design starts with exactly replacing (smooth) nonlinear systems dynamics with polynomial fuzzy models, which are known as universal approximators. Next, global stabilization conditions represented in terms of SOS are provided in the framework of the CLF design, i.e., a stabilizing controller with nonparallel distributed compensation form is explicitly designed by applying Sontag\u27s control law, once a CLF for a given nonlinear system is constructed. Furthermore, semiglobal stabilization conditions on operation domains are derived in the same fashion as in the global stabilization conditions. Both global and semiglobal stabilization problems are formulated as SOS optimization problems, which reduce to numerical feasibility problems. Five design examples are given to show the effectiveness of our proposed approach over the existing linear matrix inequality and SOS approaches

Challenges in Optimal Control of Nonlinear PDE-Systems

The workshop focussed on various aspects of optimal control problems for systems of nonlinear partial differential equations. In particular, discussions around keynote presentations in the areas of optimal control of nonlinear/non-smooth systems, optimal control of systems involving nonlocal operators, shape and topology optimization, feedback control and stabilization, sparse control, and associated numerical analysis as well as design and analysis of solution algorithms were promoted. Moreover, also aspects of control of fluid structure interaction problems as well as problems arising in the optimal control of quantum systems were considered
