Status of Designs of Lunar Surface Vehicles
This report summarizes the activities of the various organizations that have been giving some thought and design effort to producing a lunar surface traversing vehicle. It is a state-of-the-art rather than a technical report. It's purpose is to show where we are in this effort and to survey the trend of the various designers
Mechanical design of a contra-rotating propeller assembly for a small underwater ROV
Thesis (S.B.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, 2006.Includes bibliographical references (leaf 29).A project was undertaken to design and build a contra-rotating propeller assembly for a small underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV), with the intent of commissioning a production run at a later time. The desired production rate was greater than one assembly per seven hour day with one machinist, at a material cost of less than 496.02 at the time of manufacture. In the production run, the incremental time for making each assembly was under 5 hours, giving a large margin for overhead and work interruptions.by Thaddeus Stefanov-Wagner.S.B
Lunar surface construction and assembly equipment study: Lunar Base Systems Study (LBSS) task 5.3
A set of construction and assembly tasks required on the lunar surface was developed, different concepts for equipment applicable to the tasks determined, and leading candidate systems identified for future conceptual design. Data on surface construction and assembly equipment systems are necessary to facilitate an integrated review of a complete lunar scenario

Automated ammunition logistics for the Crusader program
The US Army`s next generation artillery system is called the Crusader. A self-propelled howitzer and a resupply vehicle constitute the Crusader system, which will be designed for improved mobility, increased firepower, and greater survivability than current generation vehicles. The Army`s Project Manager, Crusader, gave Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) the task of developing and demonstrating a concept for the resupply vehicle. The resupply vehicle is intended to sustain the howitzer with ammunition and fuel and will significantly increase capabilities over those of current resupply vehicles. Ammunition is currently processed and transferred almost entirely by hand. ORNL identified and evaluated various concepts for automated upload, processing, storage, docking and delivery. Each of the critical technologies was then developed separately and demonstrated on discrete test platforms. An integrated technology demonstrator, incorporating each of the individual technology components to realistically simulate performance of the selected vehicle concept, was developed and successfully demonstrated for the Army
3D locomotion biomimetic robot fish with haptic feedback
This thesis developed a biomimetic robot fish and built a novel haptic robot fish system based on the kinematic modelling and three-dimentional computational fluid dynamic (CFD) hydrodynamic analysis. The most important contribution is the successful CFD simulation of the robot fish, supporting users in understanding the hydrodynamic properties around it
Utilization of Extraterrestrial Resources
Eight state-of-the-art briefings intended to bring members of the Working Group up to date in technical areas relating to future manned expeditions to the Moon and planets were presented at the Meeting of the Working Group on Extraterrestrial Resources held in Washington, D. C., September 25-26, 1962 by recognized authorities in their respective fields. Since it was felt that the material presented at the meeting would be useful for reference purposes, most of the speakers submitted summaries of their remarks for publication. This document is a collection of the material submitted. Contents: Status of Designs of Lunar Surface Vehicles; Hydroponics or Soilless Culture; Processing of Water on the Moon; Lunar Base Construction; Lunar Rocks as a Source of Oxygen; Water in Lunar Materials; Summary of Apollo and Lunar Logistics System Plans
