    The improvement of supply chain performances through process modeling and multivariate analysis

    In the supply chain management (SCM), the ability to fulfill the highly fluctuative demand in the most efficient way without compromising the product and/or service quality is seen as a strong value added that can contribute to the organization's financial performance and reputation. This study will explore the significance of the fluctuative demand towards the supply chain KPI performances. As an industry that is prone to demand fluctuation, a pharmaceutical case study company will be used as part of the empirical study. The method will be implemented through business process modeling and simulation using ExtendSim 9 scenario analysis, followed by multivariate analysis using SAS. The objective is to understand how the seasonal demand fluctuation statistically impacts the SCM system and how can it be handled better to sustain and improve the SCM performance level. The results for this study is that both demand and process variation have statistically shown significance in affecting the KPI performances. It furthermore shows that both production methods that are done within the organization's internal location are more sustainable against the demand increase in comparison to the toll out manufacturing system. The minimization use for toll out manufacturing is seen as strongly beneficial in the long run as the system has shown high vulnerability, and an investment to increase the in-house production capacity is seen as pivotal move in order to provide a greater manufacturing flexibility in the long run.fi=Opinnäytetyö kokotekstinä PDF-muodossa.|en=Thesis fulltext in PDF format.|sv=Lärdomsprov tillgängligt som fulltext i PDF-format

    Metodologias de otimização de políticas de gestão de stocks em cadeias de abastecimento multinível utilizando simulação

    Mestrado em Decisão Económica e EmpresarialEste trabalho apresenta uma metodologia para a avaliação de políticas de gestão de stocks a serem aplicadas em cadeias de abastecimento multinível. Para tal, foi criada uma estrutura composta por um fabricante, um grossista e dois retalhistas, onde se consideram duas políticas de gestão de stock: ponto de encomenda e revisão cíclica. Ao todo, foram analisados sete modelos, que resultam das combinações destas duas políticas no grossista e retalhistas, através de um software de simulação e otimização, ExtendSim8®. Utiliza-se um processo de otimização integrada que recorre a um algoritmo genético e evolutivo associado à simulação, de forma a definir os parâmetros de gestão mais adequados à análise de um produto durável de alta rotação. Posteriormente, são discriminados os custos de gestão (custo de rutura e manutenção) para as estruturas ensaiadas e é concretizada uma análise de sensibilidade aos custos mais relevantes. Por fim, são realçadas as principais conclusões deste estudo.This research project applies a methodology for the evaluation of inventory control policies employed in multi-echelon supply chains. With that purpose, a structure was created that consists of one manufacturer, one wholesaler and two retailers, where two inventory policies were considered: reorder point policy and periodic review policy. In all, seven models were analyzed which resulted from the application of each of these two policies to the wholesaler and the retailers (respectively), by using the simulation and optimization software, ExtendSim8®. An integrated optimization process that applies a genetic and evolutionary algorithm associated with the simulation was employed, which sets the most appropriate management parameters to analyze a fast moving item. Afterwards, the management costs are discriminated between shortage and holding costs, for the different scenarios considered and a sensitivity analysis is performed for the most relevant costs. Lastly, the main conclusions drawn from this study are highlighted

    Penentuan Kebijakan Pemesanan Bahan Baku Gula Rafinasi Pada Pabrik Gula Batu Cap Kembang Dengan Pendekatan Simulasi

    Pada pabrik ini belum ada penetapan kebijakan pemesanan bahan bak. Saat ini pemesanan bahan baku dilakukan berdasarkan keinginan pemilik pabrik. Sehingga tujuan dari penelitian adalah mengetahui jumlah dan waktu pemesanan bahan baku berdasarkan jumlah permintaan, dengan meminimalkan total biaya persediaan yang dikeluarkan. Metode penelitiaan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan simulasi DES, dengan menggunakan software extend V.4. berdasarkan hasil simulasi didapatkan hasil penetapan kebijakan pemesanan bahan baku di Pabrik gula cap kembang adalah ketika permintaan tinggi dengan nilai diatas 5.000 sak/bulan digunakan skenario 2 dengan rata-rata lead time 3 hari. Saat permintaan sedang dengan nilai 4.500 sak/bulan hingga 5.000 sak/bulan digunakan skenario 1 rata-rata lead time 7 hari, dan ketika permintaan rendah dengan nilai dibawah 4.500 sak/bulan digunakan skenario 3 rata-rata lead time 3 hari. Total biaya persediaan yang dikeluarkan sebesar Rp.53.709.763/tahun. Sehingga total biaya persediaan mampu menghemat 83% dari total biaya yang dikeluarkaan saat ini
