Parametric Macromodels of Differential Drivers with Pre-Emphasis
This paper discusses the extraction of behavioral models of differential drivers with pre-emphasis for the assessment of signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility effects in multigigabit data transmission systems. A suitable model structure is derived and the procedure for its estimation from port transient waveforms is illustrated. The proposed methodology is an extension of the macromodeling based on parametric relations applied to plain differential drivers. The obtained models preserve the accuracy and efficiency strengths of behavioral parametric macromodels for conventional devices. Mini-mast CSI testbed user's guide
The Mini-Mast testbed is a 20 m generic truss highly representative of future deployable trusses for space applications. It is fully instrumented for system identification and active vibrations control experiments and is used as a ground testbed at NASA-Langley. The facility has actuators and feedback sensors linked via fiber optic cables to the Advanced Real Time Simulation (ARTS) system, where user defined control laws are incorporated into generic controls software. The object of the facility is to conduct comprehensive active vibration control experiments on a dynamically realistic large space structure. A primary goal is to understand the practical effects of simplifying theoretical assumptions. This User's Guide describes the hardware and its primary components, the dynamic characteristics of the test article, the control law implementation process, and the necessary safeguards employed to protect the test article. Suggestions for a strawman controls experiment are also included

Equalization of Third-Order Intermodulation Products in Wideband Direct Conversion Receivers
This paper reports a SAW-less direct-conversion receiver which utilizes a mixed-signal feedforward path to regenerate and adaptively cancel IM3 products, thus accomplishing system-level linearization. The receiver system performance is dominated by a custom integrated RF front end implemented in 130-nm CMOS and achieves an uncorrected out-of-band IIP3 of -7.1 dBm under the worst-case UMTS FDD Region 1 blocking specifications. Under IM3 equalization, the receiver achieves an effective IIP3 of +5.3 dBm and meets the UMTS BER sensitivity requirement with 3.7 dB of margin
SIMPEL: Circuit model for photonic spike processing laser neurons
We propose an equivalent circuit model for photonic spike processing laser
neurons with an embedded saturable absorber---a simulation model for photonic
excitable lasers (SIMPEL). We show that by mapping the laser neuron rate
equations into a circuit model, SPICE analysis can be used as an efficient and
accurate engine for numerical calculations, capable of generalization to a
variety of different laser neuron types found in literature. The development of
this model parallels the Hodgkin--Huxley model of neuron biophysics, a circuit
framework which brought efficiency, modularity, and generalizability to the
study of neural dynamics. We employ the model to study various
signal-processing effects such as excitability with excitatory and inhibitory
pulses, binary all-or-nothing response, and bistable dynamics.Comment: 16 pages, 7 figure
