    The Integral Construct of Science

A number of general theories of physics provide a model for the fundamental rules that govern our universe, becoming a structural framework to which the new discoveries must conform. The theory of relativity is such a general theory. The theory of relativity is a complex theoretical framework that facilitates the understanding of the universal laws of physics. It is based on the curved space-time continuum fabric abstract concept, and it is well suited for interpreting cosmic events. More so, a general theory based on abstract concepts and imagination facilitates the emergence of countless new extravagant theories. A new simplified theory of the natural world is necessary, a simple theory that provides a verifiable framework on which new discoveries can be integrated. The paper describes a view of the abstract time/space concept, and also a very simple model of our ever-changing universe. Views of physicists, mathematicians, chemists, engineers and of course philosophers have to be all in harmony with such a theory. We leave in a beautiful, uniform, and logical world. We live in a world where everything probable is possible. Contact email: [email protected]

The Complexity and Information Content of Simulated Universes

The emergence of a complex, large-scale organisation of cosmic matter into the Cosmic Web is a beautiful exemplification of how complexity can be produced by simple initial conditions and simple physical laws. In the epoch of Big Data in astrophysics, connecting the stunning variety of multi-messenger observations to the complex interplay of fundamental physical processes is an open challenge. In this contribution, I discuss a few relevant applications of Information Theory to the task of objectively measuring the complexity of modern numerical simulations of the Universe. When applied to cosmological simulations, complexity analysis makes it possible to measure the total information necessary to model the cosmic web. It also allow us to monitor which physical processes are mostly responsible for the emergence of complex dynamical behaviour across cosmic epochs and environments, and possibly to improve mesh refinement strategies in the future.Comment: 26 pages, 10 figures. Measuring the Water Surface Speed of the Cikidang River as a Supporting Facility for the Development of Ecotourism Areas

    Get PDF
Pangandaran Regency is famous for its natural beauty, especially the beauty of its beaches. In this district there are many famous beaches. Besides the beach, there are also rivers that offer beautiful views. However, not many tourists have made the rivers in Pangandaran as tourist destinations, especially the Cikidang River. Cikidang River has the potential to be used as ecotourism. In building an ecotourism area on the banks of a river, it is necessary to carry out an in-depth analysis of the damage that might occur due to erosion. One of the factors that can increase erosion is the speed of water on the surface. Therefore, in this paper, measurement of river surface velocity is carried out in a simple way and analyzed using the velocity formula. From the results of this measurement, a recommendation was made to direct all parties involved in measuring the surface velocity of the Cikidang River as a means of supporting the development of ecotourism areas

Individual and stage-level predicates of personal taste: another argument for genericity as the source of faultless disagreement

This chapter compares simple predicates of personal taste (PPTs) such as tasty and beautiful with their complex counterparts (eg tastes good, looks beautiful). I argue that the former differ from the latter along two dimensions. Firstly, simple PPTs are individual-level predicates, whereas complex ones are stage-level. Secondly, covert Experiencer arguments of simple PPTs obligatorily receive a generic interpretation; by contrast, the covert Experiencer of a complex PPT can receive a generic, bound variable or referential interpretation. I provide an analysis of these facts based on a novel proposal about the licensing of individual-level predicates (the ‘Licensing Condition on ILPs’). This condition states that all covert pronominal arguments of an individual-level predicate must be bound by the generic operator. Finally, I show that generic construal of the Experiencer is a necessary condition for faultless disagreement. This is evidence in favour of treatments of subjective meaning that appeal to genericity, and against relativism about PPTs

Foods Promotion to Children: Understanding the Need of Responsibility in Marketing to Children

    Get PDF
Children are bombarded with various forms of promotional activities by marketers of food products. It is known that children lack the necessary ability to understand that marketers direct promotions at them after a rigorous analysis of child psychology. They use simple criteria to evaluate products, get carried away by the use of cartoon characters, beautiful/irregular shapes or premiums offered to them. Therefore, relentless promotion often leads to overconsumption of nutrition poor and high density foods, leading to several health problems in children. Although parents also need to control food intake of their children or the government should intervene to check unethical practices of marketers, yet, their efforts are rendered unsuccessful if foods marketing companies themselves do not exercise self-restraint in marketing unhealthy foods to children and also market these foods ‘heavily’. The present paper discusses these issues and seeks to attract interest of academicians, marketers and policy makers in India

"I like how it looks but it is not beautiful" -- Sensory appeal beyond beauty

    Get PDF
Statements such as “X is beautiful but I don’t like how it looks” or “I like how X looks but it is not beautiful” sound contradictory. How contradictory they sound might however depend on the object X and on the aesthetic adjective being used (“beautiful”, “elegant”, “dynamic”, etc.). In our study, the first sentence was estimated to be more contradictory than the latter: If we describe something as beautiful, we often intend to evaluate its appearance, whereas it is less counterintuitive to appreciate an appearance without finding it beautiful. Furthermore, statements including “beautiful” appeared more contradictory than those including “elegant” and “dynamic”, pointing to its greater evaluative component. When related to artworks, sentences could appear less contradictory due to readers’ consideration of the divergence between conventional beauty and art-related sensory pleasures that can even include negative valence. Such ambivalence might be more frequent in art-objects than in other artefacts. Indeed, in our study, sentences referring to artworks were estimated to be less contradictory compared to sentences referring to other artefacts. Meanwhile, an additional small group of graphic design students showed a less clear difference between art-related and non-art-related sentences. We discuss the potential influence of art experience and interest as well as theoretical and methodological challenges like the conceptualization of beauty

The Effect of Personality over Student Insights on the Environment

    Get PDF
This study aims to determine the effect of personality on students' insights about the environment. This study uses a causal method that is formed through what is called ex post facto. Analysis using simple linear regression analysis techniques. The results showed that students could not understand the importance of utilizing the school environment and how to maintain, maintain the beauty of the environment at school so that a beautiful, safe and comfortable learning environment was formed. As a way to overcome environmental problems can not be with a business that is technical but must be supported by efforts that are educational and persuasive. The effort is carried out through environmental education that starts from kindergarten to college by instilling personality. The first conclusion, to improve environmental insight, personality factors need to be considered. Second, by knowing the dimension of personality called "Big Five", students can classify themselves in which dimension. In an effort to increase environmental insight students need to be held extra-curricular activities with the theme of the environment. It is necessary to instill students' love for the environment so that students can preserve the environment as the most important part

A Linguistic Specification of Aesthetic Judgments

    Get PDF
This paper aims to delineate the class of aesthetic judgments linguistically. The main idea is that aesthetic judgments can be specified by a certain set of assertibility conditions, i.e., by norms that govern appropriate speech-acts. This idea is spelled out in detail and defended against various objections. The suggestion leads to an interesting account of aesthetic judgments that is theoretically fruitful: It provides the basis for a non-circular and satisfying characterization of the whole domain of aesthetic research and it marks an important linguistic difference between aesthetic judgments and judgments of personal taste
