Outage Capacity of Incremental Relaying at Low Signal-to-Noise Ratios
We present the \epsilon-outage capacity of incremental relaying at low
signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) in a wireless cooperative network with slow
Rayleigh fading channels. The relay performs decode-and-forward and repetition
coding is employed in the network, which is optimal in the low SNR regime. We
derive an expression on the optimal relay location that maximizes the
\epsilon-outage capacity. It is shown that this location is independent of the
outage probability and SNR but only depends on the channel conditions
represented by a path-loss factor. We compare our results to the
\epsilon-outage capacity of the cut-set bound and demonstrate that the ratio
between the \epsilon-outage capacity of incremental relaying and the cut-set
bound lies within 1/\sqrt{2} and 1. Furthermore, we derive lower bounds on the
\epsilon-outage capacity for the case of K relays.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, to be presented at VTC Fall 2009 in Anchorage,

Multipair Massive MIMO Relaying Systems with One-Bit ADCs and DACs
This paper considers a multipair amplify-and-forward massive MIMO relaying
system with one-bit ADCs and one-bit DACs at the relay. The channel state
information is estimated via pilot training, and then utilized by the relay to
perform simple maximum-ratio combining/maximum-ratio transmission processing.
Leveraging on the Bussgang decomposition, an exact achievable rate is derived
for the system with correlated quantization noise. Based on this, a closed-form
asymptotic approximation for the achievable rate is presented, thereby enabling
efficient evaluation of the impact of key parameters on the system performance.
Furthermore, power scaling laws are characterized to study the potential energy
efficiency associated with deploying massive one-bit antenna arrays at the
relay. In addition, a power allocation strategy is designed to compensate for
the rate degradation caused by the coarse quantization. Our results suggest
that the quality of the channel estimates depends on the specific orthogonal
pilot sequences that are used, contrary to unquantized systems where any set of
orthogonal pilot sequences gives the same result. Moreover, the sum rate gap
between the double-quantized relay system and an ideal non-quantized system is
a moderate factor of in the low power regime.Comment: 14 pages, 10 figures, submitted to IEEE Trans. Signal Processin
Improving performance of far users in cognitive radio: Exploiting NOMA and wireless power transfer
In this paper, we examine non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and relay selection strategy to benefit extra advantage from traditional cognitive radio (CR) relaying systems. The most important requirement to prolong lifetime of such network is employing energy harvesting in the relay to address network with limited power constraint. In particular, we study such energy harvesting CR-NOMA using amplify-and-forward (AF) scheme to improve performance far NOMA users. To further address such problem, two schemes are investigated in term of number of selected relays. To further examine system performance, the outage performance needs to be studied for such wireless powered CR-NOMA network over Rayleigh channels. The accurate expressions for the outage probability are derived to perform outage comparison of primary network and secondary network. The analytical results show clearly that position of these nodes, transmit signal to noise ratio (SNR) and power allocation coefficients result in varying outage performance. As main observation, performance gap between primary and secondary destination is decided by both power allocation factors and selection mode of single relay or multiple relays. Numerical studies were conducted to verify our derivations.Web of Science1211art. no. 220
Regenerative and Adaptive schemes Based on Network Coding for Wireless Relay Network
Recent technological advances in wireless communications offer new
opportunities and challenges for relay network. To enhance system performance,
Demodulate-Network Coding (Dm-NC) scheme has been examined at relay node; it
works directly to De-map the received signals and after that forward the
mixture to the destination. Simulation analysis has been proven that the
performance of Dm-NC has superiority over analog-NC. In addition, the
Quantize-Decode-NC scheme (QDF-NC) has been introduced. The presented
simulation results clearly provide that the QDF-NC perform better than
analog-NC. The toggle between analogNC and QDF-NC is simulated in order to
investigate delay and power consumption reduction at relay node.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, International Journal of Computer Networks &
