    Performance analysis with network-enhanced complexities: On fading measurements, event-triggered mechanisms, and cyber attacks

For networked systems, especially large-scale systems such as multiagent systems and systems over sensor networks, the complexities are inevitably enhanced in terms of their degrees or intensities because of the usage of the communication networks. Therefore, it would be interesting to (1) examine how this kind of network-enhanced complexities affects the control or filtering performance; and (2) develop some suitable approaches for controller/filter design problems. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the performance analysis and synthesis with three sorts of fashionable network-enhanced complexities, namely, fading measurements, event-triggered mechanisms, and attack behaviors of adversaries. First, these three kinds of complexities are introduced in detail according to their engineering backgrounds, dynamical characteristic, and modelling techniques. Then, the developments of the performance analysis and synthesis issues for various networked systems are systematically reviewed.     Leader-following identical consensus for Markov jump nonlinear multi-agent systems subjected to attacks with impulse

    The issue of leader-following identical consensus for nonlinear Markov jump multiagent systems (NMJMASs) under deception attacks (DAs) or denial-of-service (DoS) attacks is investigated in this paper. The Bernoulli random variable is introduced to describe whether the controller is injected with false data, that is, whether the systems are subjected to DAs. A connectivity recovery mechanism is constructed to maintain the connection among multi-agents when the systems are subjected to DoS attack. The impulsive control strategy is adopted to ensure that the systems can normally work under DAs or DoS attacks. Based on graph theory, Lyapunov stability theory, and impulsive theory, using the Lyapunov direct method and stochastic analysis method, the sufficient conditions of identical consensus for Markov jump multi-agent systems (MJMASs) under DAs or DoS are obtained, respectively. Finally, the correctness of the results and the effectiveness of the method are verified by two numerical examples

    Distributed Fault-Tolerant Consensus Tracking Control of Multi-Agent Systems under Fixed and Switching Topologies

    This paper proposes a novel distributed fault-tolerant consensus tracking control design for multi-agent systems with abrupt and incipient actuator faults under fixed and switching topologies. The fault and state information of each individual agent is estimated by merging unknown input observer in the decentralized fault estimation hierarchy. Then, two kinds of distributed fault-tolerant consensus tracking control schemes with average dwelling time technique are developed to guarantee the mean-square exponential consensus convergence of multi-agent systems, respectively, on the basis of the relative neighboring output information as well as the estimated information in fault estimation. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant consensus tracking control algorithm

    Trust-based fault detection and robust fault-tolerant control of uncertain cyber-physical systems against time-delay injection attacks

    Control systems need to be able to operate under uncertainty and especially under attacks. To address such challenges, this paper formulates the solution of robust control for uncertain systems under time-varying and unknown time-delay attacks in cyber-physical systems (CPSs). A novel control method able to deal with thwart time-delay attacks on closed-loop control systems is proposed. Using a descriptor model and an appropriate Lyapunov functional, sufficient conditions for closed-loop stability are derived based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). A design procedure is proposed to obtain an optimal state feedback control gain such that the uncertain system can be resistant under an injection time-delay attack with variable delay. Furthermore, various fault detection frameworks are proposed by following the dynamics of the measured data at the system's input and output using statistical analysis such as correlation analysis and K-L (Kullback-Leibler) divergence criteria to detect attack's existence and to prevent possible instability. Finally, an example is provided to evaluate the proposed design method's effectiveness

    Switched Stackelberg game analysis of false data injection attacks on networked control systems

    summary:This paper is concerned with a security problem for a discrete-time linear networked control system of switched dynamics. The control sequence generated by a remotely located controller is transmitted over a vulnerable communication network, where the control input may be corrupted by false data injection attacks launched by a malicious adversary. Two partially conflicted cost functions are constructed as the quantitative guidelines for both the controller and the attacker, after which a switched Stackelberg game framework is proposed to analyze the interdependent decision-making processes. A receding-horizon switched Stackelberg strategy for the controller is derived subsequently, which, together with the corresponding best response of the attacker, constitutes the switched Stackelberg equilibrium. Furthermore, the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system under the switched Stackelberg equilibrium is guaranteed if the switching signal exhibits a certain average dwell time. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in this paper

    Bipartite Consensus for a Class of Nonlinear Multi-agent Systems Under Switching Topologies:A Disturbance Observer-Based Approach

    This paper considers the leader-following bipartite consensus for a class of nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs) subject to exogenous disturbances under directed fixed and switching topologies, respectively. Firstly, two new output feedback control protocols involving signs of link weights are introduced based on relative output measurements of neighboring agents. In order to estimate the disturbances produced by an exogenous system, a disturbance observer-based approach is developed. Then, sufficient conditions for leader-following bipartite consensus with directed fixed topologies are derived. Furthermore, by assuming that each switching topology contains a directed spanning tree, it is proved that the leader-following bipartite consensus can be realized with the designed output feedback control protocol if the dwell time is larger than a non-negative threshold. Finally, numerical simulations inspired by a real-world DC motors are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controllers

    Resilient distributed control of islanded microgrids under hybrid attacks

    In this paper, a resilient control strategy is proposed to improve the stability of frequency and voltage recovery for the islanded microgrid (MG) under hybrid cyber attacks. To deal with the common false data injection attacks (FDI) and denial of service attacks (DoS) in MGs, the proposed resilient control strategy utilizes the observers to accurately estimate the potential FDI signals on both the sensors and actuators of each distributed generation unit (DG) and reconstruct the unavailable states in the system to enhance the system’s ability actively. The ultimate uniform boundedness (UUB) of the system under hybrid cyber attacks is proved by the Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, an islanded MG system is established in MATLAB/SIMULINK, and multiple scenarios are simulated to verify the effectiveness of the method
