    Tracking research trends and hotspots in sperm DNA fragmentation testing for the evaluation of male infertility: a scientometric analysis.

    BACKGROUND: This article describes the research trends in sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) over the past 20 years (1999-2018) using a scientometric approach. METHODS: A stepwise approach was adopted to retrieve scientometric data (articles per year, authors, affiliations, journals, countries) from Scopus and analyze the publication pattern of SDF with reference to key areas of research in the field of Andrology. RESULTS: A total of 2121 articles were retrieved related to SDF. Our data revealed an increasing research trend in SDF (n = 33 to n = 173) over the past 20 years (R2 = 0.894). Most productive country in publications was the USA (n = 450), while Agarwal A. (n = 129) being the most productive author. Most of the articles in SDF were primarily focused on lifestyle (n = 157), asthenozoospermia (n = 135) and varicocele (130). Mechanistic studies on SDF were published twice as much as prognostic/diagnostic studies, with significant emphasis on oxidative stress. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) was the most widely used technique to evaluate SDF. Publications on SDF related to assisted reproductive techniques also showed a linear increasing trend (R2 = 0.933). CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis revealed an increasing trend in SDF publications predominantly investigating lifestyle, asthenozoospermia and varicocele conditions with TUNEL being the most widely used technique. A substantial increase in research is warranted to establish SDF as prognostic/diagnostic parameter to evaluate clinical scenarios and ART outcomes

    Madras Medical College is the one of well-known premier medical institution, situated in Chennai. The data was collected using PubMed database during 1989-2018, there are 646 Publications were found. Analyzed for year wise growth shows 53(8.20%) Publications found during 1989-1993 and Highest 283(43.81%) Publication found during 2014-2018 Authorship pattern shows single author have contributed 35(5.42%), multi author have contributed 611 articles, the mean relative growth rate is 0.0835 and mean doubling time is 14.65.     Research Productivity of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS): A Scientometric Analysis

    This study evidences the growth of research literature produced by AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) for the period of 2007 to 2016. A total of 14410 records were retrieved from the Scopus database. Descriptive statistics for the research publication output revealed mean = 1441, Sd = 318.92, minimum = 1087, maximum = 2141 at 95.0% confidence level. The curve fitting methodology was used to fit the growth of research publication of AIIMS. R square value for exponential growth model is higher (0.908) than the linear growth model (0.849). Journals are identified as most preferred publication pattern (69.42%). The research output of top 20 department aggregates to 57.77% of total productivity. This study also identified the top 20 most preferred journals by the faculties of AIIMS and comparison was made with the previous study revealed Indian Journal of Pediatrics, Indian Journal of Medical Research, and Indian Pediatrics were the most preferred journals among the faculties. The observation of this study exhibits that AIIMS plays a vital role in reducing disease burden of India by means of quantitative and qualitative research publications

    Research productivity of any university is a reflection of its status quo in terms of its position in Higher Education Institution (HEI) ranking framework. This Scientometric study is an attempt to highlight the key features of research productivity of Science Faculty of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University based on the data collected from Web of Science database over a period of 30 years from 1990 to 2019.This article studied the publication trend by analysis of the 2229 research records. The major objectives of this study were to evaluate the research output in terms of number and type of publications, prolific and productive author, most preferred publication, citation analysis and so on. The complete research output is 2229 with an Annual Growth Rate (AGR) of 6.23 % with 11.4 % of average citations per paper. The period from year 2004 to 2019 was highly productive block with year 2015 contributing highest 7.31 % of the total number of publications during the study period. Physics was found to the core subject in which high level of quantitative as well as qualitative research has been performed by Science Faculty of the university. This paper is an attempt to portray a scientometric profile of the one of the oldest and premier university of India which will be help to highlight appropriate measures required for enhancing the research benchmark of the university to a new high

    Citation Analysis and Visualization of Iranian Urology and Nephrology Scientific Publications

    Introduction: Urology and nephrology are the main sub-categories of internal medicine, and relevant research had been grown in recent years.  The present study aimed to analyze the Iranian scientific publications in urology and nephrology indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) from 1900 to 2020. Methods: This cross-sectional and scientometric study was conducted in 2021. The urology and nephrology records were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WSCC) with a time limitation from 1900 to 2020. Data analysis was performed in the Excel software in terms of descriptive statistics, and the scientific maps were visualized in VOSviewer. Results: Until 2020, 3439 urology and nephrology scientific publications by Iranian researchers were indexed in the SCIE. These articles had received 25393 citations in total, with an h-index of 55. More than half of the articles (56.12%) were original, and the majority were published in 2012 (345; 10.03%). Tehran University of Medical Sciences was the most productive and top-cited organization on urology and nephrology, with 914 (26.57%) documents and total citations of 7741. Kajbafzadeh (140; 4.07%) and Basiri (133; 3.86%) were the most productive authors. The most productive journals were the Iranian Journal of Kidney Disease (650; 18.90%) and the Urology Journal (386; 11.22%). Conclusion: The results demonstrated increasing of Iranian scientific publications, citations, co-authorship, and international collaboration. While the authors published their articles in higher ranking journals, more significant research budgets and open scientific diplomacy are necessary to promote visibility and motivate international collaboration among Iranian researchers

    A Scientometric Study on Graphene and Related Graphene- Based Materials in Medicine

    Here we carried out a scientometric analysis of scientific literature published referred to the use of graphene and graphene-based materials. We found that in the last 15 years, more than 1200 issues have been produced, with an H-index of 67 cited 2647 times. The countries that have a larger production, in terms of number of issues published, are China, the United States, South Korea, India, and Iran, and the most relevant subject categories in which they are indexed are materials science, chemistry, science and technology, physics, and engineering, while the biological and medical specialties seem to be actually not deeply involved

    Mapping the Scientific Outputs in the Field of Physiotherapy: A Co-Word Analysis

    Introduction: Evaluation and analysis of scientific outputs and between-keywords relationship could provide the investigators with useful information. The aim of this study was mapping of scientific outputs in the field of physiotherapy, with applying the co-word analysis in the ISI Web of Science database. Methods and Materials: This study was a scientometric approach using the co-word and network analyses in the field of physiotherapy. Published papers from 2000 to 2018 were reviewed and the results were analyzed by Excel, UCINET, Netdraw and VOSviewer. Results: Results showed an increasing trend of scientific outputs in the field of physiotherapy. United States of America (USA) achieved the first rank (7400 documents) followed by England and Australia. Among the Middle East countries, Turkish with 981 documents achieved the first rank while Iran with 235 documents owned the third rank. Regarding the frequently used subjects, the most scientific outputs in the field of physiotherapy were shared with Physical medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthopedic, Neuroscience, Sport medicine, Internal medicine, Surgery, Rheumatology, Health medicine, Pediatrics, and Pulmonology. Results revealed rehabilitation, physiotherapy, exercise, physical therapy, and management based on degree centrality and disability, therapy, physiotherapy, outcome based on both of the betweenness and closeness centrality had the most impact on the network. Conclusion: Regarding the trend of scientific outputs, physiotherapy is most related to orthopedic, neuroscience, and pediatric. Moreover, scientific interaction to increase scientific outputs in Iran and other Middle East countries seems to be essential. Additionally, mapping of co-word analyses could provide the policy makers with information regarding the research, key words, and the relationship between key words in the field of physiotherapy. Therefore, they can plan essential and appropriate programs to improve both the quality and quantity of the scientific outputs in this field
