Saccharinity
We present a method to iterate finitely splitting lim-sup tree forcings along
non-wellfounded linear orders. We apply this method to construct a forcing
(without using an inaccessible or amalgamation) that makes all definable sets
of reals measurable with respect to a certain (non-ccc) ideal
Fibre bragg gratings and their sensing applications
Fibre Bragg gratings have been investigated for their sensing of environmental
parameters, including temperature, humidity, axial strain, bending and flow rate. The
changes in different environmental parameters result in monotonous spectrum shift of the
fibre Bragg gratings. The sensitivities of acrylate-coating fibre Bragg grating on
temperature, axial strain and flow rate are 0.0102 nm/⁰C, 0.732 pm/με and 0.0092 nm/cm³s⁻¹, respectively. The sensitivities of polyimide-coating fibre Bragg grating on
temperature, humidity and axial strain are 0.0094 nm/°C, 2.60 pm/%RH and 0.99 pm/με,
respectively. The experimental results on the polarization characterization indicate that
the maximum polarization dependent loss of a single mode polyimide-coated fibre Bragg
grating and the Bragg wavelengths corresponding to the fast-axis mode and slow-axis
mode of a polarization maintaining fibre Bragg grating will increase with the rising
temperature.
We propose and demonstrate for the first time that a new multiplexed fibre Bragg
grating sensor system is capable of achieving simultaneous measurement of different
measurands. The multiplexed sensor system, which consists of two fibre Bragg gratings
with different coating materials of acrylate and polyimide, exhibits distinguishable
characteristics to different measurands owing to the unique hygroscopic and swelling
properties of the polyimide coating. Experimental results on the simultaneous
measurement of temperature and saccharinity/salinity indicated corresponding sensitivities of 0.0102 nm/°C and 0.0012 nm/°Bx I 0.0038 nm/%. Simultaneous
measurement of temperature and axial strain has also been achieved.
The results achieved in this thesis are promising for applications on multimeasurand,
quasi-distributed and in-situ sensing measurement using multiplexed FBG

Breadand Effervescent Beverage Productions with Local Microbes for the Local Revitalization
Local microbes such as yeasts fungi and bacilli, were isolated and used to apply for the food processing (bread making) and the production of an effervescent beverage (fruits kvass) for promotion of the local revitalization. Our yeast isolates could contribute to make the breads that can sell in alocal bakery shop. Furthermore, the same yeasts could be used for making the fruit kvass (a Russian effervescent beverage which was fermented by yeast) with local fruit products (lemon, dry grape, mandarin orange and apple that were produced in Hiroshima prefecture in Japan). Development of merchandise having the local brand, which was made with only products of Hiroshima prefecture was attempted. Results of these activities demonstrate that the search of local microbes can help to establish the regional brand product related to its local area. They also showed that the local microbes have the potential ability to lead the local revitalization and the local brand product
There are presented the results of longterm research of microbial preparation action at phosphate nutrition, crop productivity and saccharinity of sugar bee t root. It was established that use of albobacterin and polymyxobacterin in crops of sugar bee t increases the number of phosphatemobilizing bacteria in the rhizosphere of plants, as well as activation of phosphatase, that improve phosphate nutrition and increase content phosphorus in the root, crop productivity and saccharinity of roots
Solovay's inaccessible over a weak set theory without choice
We study the consistency strength of Lebesgue measurability for
sets over a weak set theory in a completely choiceless context. We establish a
result analogous to the Solovay-Shelah theorem
Ingredients of the Whole: Intuition, Environment, and Development
Despite Noah Webster\u27s best efforts, design and process are difficult words to define. Individually they resist our efforts to pin them down neatly as if they were the wings of an exotic insect on display
Exploratory graph analysis with estimated consumer utilities : a pilot study for uncovering the network dimensionality of iced tea claims
Using estimated consumer utilities for 21 different iced tea claims, this study
aimed to examine how typical factor extraction approaches, as well as exploratory
graph analysis, performed comparatively. Data was collected by an international market
research agency on behalf of a consumer goods organization headquartered in a
western-culture European country. The conceptual and statistical worth of exploratory
graph analysis within the greater consumer beverages context was then evaluated.
Exploratory graph analysis was able to reorganize claims into dimensions that were not
only in agreement with most other factor extraction methods, but also those which were
distinct and conceptually appropriate. Despite achieving such clear theoretical
groundwork for future efforts on latent constructs in market research, much was still
desired in terms of the statistical fit of this particular iced tea claims model. This
provides applied market researchers, as well as social science academics, a unique
opportunity to better understand the network dimensionality of products and services
using consumer utilities. As such, continuation of this interdisciplinary, original research
is highly encouraged.Thesis (M.S.)Department of Educational Psycholog
STRANGE RARITIES
‘Strange Rarities’ is a compelling and odd coupling of words, and similar to this body of work, this phrase both masks and reveals its references. ‘Strange’ defines something unfamiliar or extraordinary; ‘Rarity’ describes something that is uncommon, or the quality of being rare. Paired together, a ‘strange rarity’ refers to an object, a feeling, or a something, which discourages familiarity and excites wonder and awe
