Neural network-based compensation control of mobile robots with partially known structure
This study proposes an inverse non-linear controller combined with an adaptive neural network proportional integral (PI) sliding mode using an on-line learning algorithm. The neural network acts as a compensator for a conventional inverse controller in order to improve the control performance when the system is affected by variations on their dynamics and kinematics. Also, the proposed controller can reduce the steady-state error of a non-linear inverse controller using the on-line adaptive technique based on Lyapunov’s theory. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective in controlling dynamic systems with unexpected large uncertainties.Fil: Rossomando, Francisco Guido. Optimized state feedback regulation of 3DOF helicopter system via extremum seeking
In this paper, an optimized state feedback regulation of a 3 degree of freedom (DOF) helicopter is designed via extremum seeking (ES) technique. Multi-parameter ES is applied to optimize the tracking performance via tuning State Vector Feedback with Integration of the Control Error (SVFBICE).
Discrete multivariable version of ES is developed to minimize a cost function that measures the performance of the controller. The cost function is a function of the error between the actual and desired axis positions. The controller parameters are updated online as the optimization takes place. This method significantly decreases the time in obtaining optimal controller parameters. Simulations were conducted for the online optimization under both fixed and varying operating conditions. The results demonstrate the usefulness of using ES for preserving the maximum attainable performance
Navigation of Automatic Vehicle using AI Techniques
In the field of mobile robot navigation have been studied as important task for the new generation of mobile robot i.e. Corobot. For this mobile robot navigation has been viewed for unknown environment. We consider the 4-wheeled vehicle (Corobot) for Path Planning, an autonomous robot and an obstacle and collision avoidance to be used in sensor based robot. We propose that the predefined distance from the robot to target and make the robot follow the target at this distance and improve the trajectory tracking characteristics. The robot will then navigate among these obstacles without hitting them and reach the specified goal point. For these goal achieving we use different techniques radial basis function and back-propagation algorithm under the study of neural network. In this Corobot a robotic arm are assembled and the kinematic analyses of Corobot arm and help of Phidget Control Panel a wheeled to be moved in both forward and reverse direction by 2-motor controller have to be done. Under kinematic analysis propose the relationships between the positions and orientation of the links of a manipulator. In these studies an artificial techniques and their control strategy are shown with potential applications in the fields of industry, security, defense, investigation, and others. Here finally, the simulation result using the webot neural network has been done and this result is compared with experimental data for different training pattern
Energy-saver mobile manipulator based on numerical methods
The work presents the kinematic and dynamic control of a mobile robotic manipulator
system based on numerical methods. The proposal also presents the curvature analysis of a path
not parameterized in time, for the optimization of energy consumption. The energy optimization
considers two aspects: the velocity of execution in curves and the amount of movements generated
by the robotic system. When a curve occurs on the predefined path, the execution velocity is
analyzed throughout the system in a unified method to prevent skid e ects from a ecting the mobile
manipulator, while the number of movements is limited by the redundancy presented by the robotic
system to optimize energy use. The experimental results are shown to validate the mechanical and

Advanced Strategies for Robot Manipulators
Amongst the robotic systems, robot manipulators have proven themselves to be of increasing importance and are widely adopted to substitute for human in repetitive and/or hazardous tasks. Modern manipulators are designed complicatedly and need to do more precise, crucial and critical tasks. So, the simple traditional control methods cannot be efficient, and advanced control strategies with considering special constraints are needed to establish. In spite of the fact that groundbreaking researches have been carried out in this realm until now, there are still many novel aspects which have to be explored
Sliding mode control applied in trajectory-tracking of WMRs and autonomous vehicles

• Chapter 2: Trajectory tracking problems are summarized.
• Chapter 3: Kinematic and dynamic modeling of theWMRs and car-like robots are presented.
• Chapter 4: The concept of sliding mode are first introduced. Then the fundamentals of SMC are summarized, including basic definitions, methods of sliding surface and control law design, robustness properties and the methods on handling chattering problems. New sliding-mode trajectory-tracking and slidingmode path-following controllers for WMRs and car-like vehicles, are also proposed in this chapter.
• Chapter 5: The trajectory/path planning are developed, including the velocity profile.
• Chapter 6: A model with two freedom degrees is considered for the HNC model. The user comfort is examined not only in the time domain, but also in the frequency domain.
• Chapter 7: Experimental results obtained with the implementation of the proposed controllers in RobChair are summarized and discussed.
• Chapter 8: Finally, conclusions are drawn and some suggestions for future work are provided
Sensor Network Based Collision-Free Navigation and Map Building for Mobile Robots
Safe robot navigation is a fundamental research field for autonomous robots
including ground mobile robots and flying robots. The primary objective of a
safe robot navigation algorithm is to guide an autonomous robot from its
initial position to a target or along a desired path with obstacle avoidance.
With the development of information technology and sensor technology, the
implementations combining robotics with sensor network are focused on in the
recent researches. One of the relevant implementations is the sensor network
based robot navigation. Moreover, another important navigation problem of
robotics is safe area search and map building. In this report, a global
collision-free path planning algorithm for ground mobile robots in dynamic
environments is presented firstly. Considering the advantages of sensor
network, the presented path planning algorithm is developed to a sensor network
based navigation algorithm for ground mobile robots. The 2D range finder sensor
network is used in the presented method to detect static and dynamic obstacles.
The sensor network can guide each ground mobile robot in the detected safe area
to the target. Furthermore, the presented navigation algorithm is extended into
3D environments. With the measurements of the sensor network, any flying robot
in the workspace is navigated by the presented algorithm from the initial
position to the target. Moreover, in this report, another navigation problem,
safe area search and map building for ground mobile robot, is studied and two
algorithms are presented. In the first presented method, we consider a ground
mobile robot equipped with a 2D range finder sensor searching a bounded 2D area
without any collision and building a complete 2D map of the area. Furthermore,
the first presented map building algorithm is extended to another algorithm for
3D map building
Navigational Path Analysis of Mobile Robot in Various Environments
This dissertation describes work in the area of an autonomous mobile robot. The objective is navigation of mobile robot in a real world dynamic environment avoiding structured and unstructured obstacles either they are static or dynamic. The shapes and position of obstacles are not known to robot prior to navigation. The mobile robot has sensory recognition of specific objects in the environments. This sensory-information provides local information of robots immediate surroundings to its controllers. The information is dealt intelligently by the robot to reach the global objective (the target). Navigational paths as well as time taken during navigation by the mobile robot can be expressed as an optimisation problem and thus can be analyzed and solved using AI techniques. The optimisation of path as well as time taken is based on the kinematic stability and the intelligence of the robot controller. A successful way of structuring the navigation task deals with the issues of individual behaviour design and action coordination of the behaviours. The navigation objective is addressed using fuzzy logic, neural network, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system and different other AI technique.The research also addresses distributed autonomous systems using multiple robot
Intelligent Control and Path Planning of Multiple Mobile Robots Using Hybrid Ai Techniques
This work reports the problem of intelligent control and path planning of multiple mobile robots. Soft computing methods, based on three main approaches i.e. 1) Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm, 2) Radial Basis Function Network and 3) Bees Algorithm are presented. Initially, Bacterial foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFOA) with constant step size is analyzed for the navigation of mobile robots. Then the step size has been made adaptive to develop an Adaptive Bacterial Foraging Optimization (ABFO) controller. Further, another controller using radial basis function neural network has been developed for the mobile robot navigation. Number of training patterns are intended to train the RBFN controller for different conditions arises during the navigation. Moreover, Bees Algorithm has been used for the path planning of the mobile robots in unknown environments. A new fitness function has been used to perform the essential navigational tasks effectively and efficiently. In addition to the selected standalone approaches, hybrid models are also proposed to improve the ability of independent navigation. Five hybrid models have been presented and analyzed for navigation of one, two and four mobile robots in various scenarios. Comparisons have been made for the distance travelled and time taken by the robots in simulation and real time. Further, all the proposed approaches are found capable of solving the basic issues of path planning for mobile robots while doing navigation. The controllers have been designed, developed and analyzed for various situations analogous to possible applications of the robots in indoor environments. Computer simulations are presented for all cases with single and multiple mobile robots in different environments to show the effectiveness of the proposed controllers. Furthermore, various exercises have been performed, analyzed and compared in physical environments to exhibit the effectiveness of the developed controllers
